I couldn't find this information anywhere. Decathlon employees (bicycle service folk) told me that, because the battery has a CAN BUS, you can't replace it with a non-decathlon battery, because it won't communicate with the controller anymore.

Because my battery completely died and there are none in stock in my country nor in the surrounding 4 countries, I ordered a universal 48v battery from aliexpress without can bus or any comms, just plain +/-. It works, so you likely can put a universal 48v battery on any Decathlon R500E, not just v2 like mine, but I haven't tried any of the other generations.

I cut the controller's cables and soldered on a pair of XT60 plugs, because the battery's holder came with XT60 itself. When you order a battery, make sure you also order some T or XT or other high current plugs and you solder them on. Crimping likely makes the motor rattle.

The only thing I noticed is that, because can-bus is disconnected, the battery % doesn't show the percentage anymore, but shows the actual voltage (see first picture).

Hi Bikers. I just finished restored my Babboe city mountain from late 2018 and found out it was recalled by Babboe. The recall was in the back of my mind, but I at one point convinced myself the mountain versions were not affected.

The bike had a lot of surface rust, which I removed and repainted with anti rust primer (Hammerite) and spray paint. Everything looked good and stable. No cracks or rust penetration.

Out of interest, I uploaded my bikes serial to Babboe and they started a recall. They will collect the bike and pay me 1800 eur as a voucher.

Would you take the trade and invest in a new Babboe for 4000 euros keep the old one.

I am only using the bike for fun trips around my city with my daughter.

So I was just at a local dealer in Munich. And he wanted to sell me the Cargoo for 6803€. A quick online search showed me prices for way less. But I don’t know if this is the normal price for the configuration. Is this overpriced?

I have a 2x10 deore Bullitt that I have been using as my every day bike. I've had it about 18months and it's been a life changing investment BUT

I have a handful of short but very steep climbs on my 15min ride to work, and I have had problems controlling the bike when climbing at very very slow speeds since day one. Especially on days when I'm tired and I'm using the small ring to crawl up with minimal physical exertion.

It's really hard to keep the bike going in a safe and predictable path, and alongside traffic it's just mentally very draining and doesn't feel safe at all. I'm tired of fighting this front wheel every day zig zagging like an idiot up the hill! And with a background of 15 years mtb experience, I'm so frustrated at myself that I can't get the hang of it 🤣

For reference and criticism... My preffered setup:

100mm stem

Bars: Magic Components KT-800 bars (40mm rise, 800 wide, massive 37° back sweep)

Cane Creek visco set.

No easy up.

For me at 175cm, this gives a nice wide but relaxed, somewhat upright posture, the grips are a touch under being level with the saddle thanks to plenty of upsweep. Reach wise, it would be pretty similar to running a super short stem, and normal mtb bars. Far from an aggressive setup in my opinion and it's super comfortable for me. It might also be worth mentioning that I check the steering components a lot, hoping for something to be loose but everything has been mint since new and the bike otherwise rides beautifully.

Please let me know, if this is just a normal thing that Bullitt owners in hilly areas have to deal with, and if there is anything I can do to try and calm the front end on the climbs. Would the steering damper be better than viscoset here? maybe I need to get even more upright relaxed position, basically no weight on the hands?

Im also painfully aware electric assist will solve the problem 😂 not a line I'm willing to cross!

this is made by a small bike shop in Japan, ToxicWorks. has anyone seen anything similar to this in the US? I don't feel like paying $100+ for shipping and the stupid tariffs. I might have to ask some machinists, the important part is the collars for the head and down tubes.

I recently bought a tern quick haul then found there is only one anchor point in the office bike room that I can lock it to, even with the extra long folding lock (which I also hate), which might be fine because I'm an early bird. But I'm looking for another option in case someone gets there first.

I was looking at chains but the one that seems long enough is 10lbs (one of the cinch/noose style). It is a fobbed space, so it has that layer of security as well, but I'm also looking for something to lock it up at home.

Has anyone faced this? Any suggestions?
