For years, my whole closet was filled with crazy things I found at thrift stores and nothing matched. The past few years, have been working to create a better wardrobe with more constant colors and cohesive matching. I have this 100% cotton skirt that was perfect other than that it was BRIGHT red. Practically neon red. I didn't like it with white and I didn't like it with black so it was very hard to match. It was also way out in left field for any of my other clothes. Then I had the idea to dye it with purple RIT dye to get it to be wine/ burgundy color which is one of my colors and match it with black/ cream. I am super excited with how it turned out and wanted to share!

Over the past year, I've been gradually building a classic wardrobe. The goal wasn't to have a lot of clothes, but to have pieces that go well together.

In most of my looks, I use neutral colors, loafers, Chelsea boots, dress pants, polos, knitwear, and sports jackets.

I recently organized my digital wardrobe to better see what I actually own and avoid buying duplicates.

Im not fussy about labels or designers, but natural materials are a must (or at least mostly natural). If the garment isn’t of natural material then it needs a reason - sports wear, waterproof etc.

My main items Im looking for the bottom half 😅 I’ve recently lost weight and my bottom half clothes are getting lose. They don’t need replace just yet however over the next twelve months i think they will become too big to wear. My staples are straight leg jeans, wide leg trousers, pleated skirts.

I just thought I would get some appreciation for the coordination and that (most) everything theoretically matches 🥲

My work involves a lot of moving around, bending, lifting, and being outside in all kinds of weather. I genuinely cannot wear the clean neutral pieces that show up in every capsule wardrobe guide. By end of day, anything light colored is destroyed and anything structured is uncomfortable. So my wardrobe has just defaulted to whatever survives, which isn't really a capsule, it's just a pile of dark functional stuff with no real intention behind it.

What I'm trying to figure out is how to build something that actually works for work but doesn't make my offhours look like I forgot to change. The usual advice about a few quality basics and some versatile layers isn't wrong, but it assumes your basics aren't getting wrecked constantly.

Right now I'm thinking darker bottoms that can pass as casual, some kind of midlayer situation that looks intentional rather than just practical, and footwear that handles rough conditions but isn't completely hopeless elsewhere. The problem is finding pieces where those things overlap.

Has anyone built a capsule around a job that physically demands a lot from clothes? Curious what categories actually held up for you.

Hi all :) Im going to be traveling to Istanbul for the first time in September for 17 days. We’re going to be doing the usual activities: walking, eating, shopping, sightseeing, visiting relatives. Im from a climate with more extreme temperatures than Istanbul, so I think I should be fine temperature wise.

This is so far the wardrobe I have planned, as well as a few sample outfits. Im normally an insane over packer so I’m trying to be realistic and bring only the things I can see myself actually wearing. Is there anything that you guys think might be too much or not enough?

Here’s some of my thoughts and concerns so far:
I don’t wear jeans much, and would prefer to wear something more comfortable and free flowing. I’d like a few options for layering overtop. The cardigan and white button down could be for daytime looks where I may need to layer up before going inside somewhere but could drape on my shoulders if I’m warm. The scarf wrap could be for the same purpose or used as a head covering if needed.
I can see myself not wearing the halter top, but I feel like I just needed more tops. The shoes might be overkill but I’d want the birks and the white walking shoes for sure. Also I feel like I might need a little nicer shoe if I go out to an evening dinner?

I just recently sold almost my entire wardrobe and used the money from that to invest in capsule pieces. I am thrilled with the downsizing I’ve done, but even now, looking over what I have, I’m wondering if it’s too much (for me and my lifestyle), and I’m trying to figure out exactly where I can pare down. I’m thinking I’ll start by trying the hanger-flip method, but I was also trying to figure out if I could/should start in another way.

All you knowledgeable folks, I need help! I’m at my wits end trying to find jeans. I’m 5’ 3”, 162 lbs with the typical menopausal body and I’m getting desperate. I assume I’m an apple … can’t seem to figure out kibbe body types lol. Main thing,I cannot find a pair of jeans to save my life.

I’ve tried high waisted and the waistband rolls and slides under my pooch.

Low waisted is uncomfortable.

I’ve tried petite and regular and I’ve tried several different sizes and they all sag off my butt when I wear them even with a belt.

My favorite jeans in the past are Christopher and banks but they don’t make that style anymore. Penney’s brands sag, Liz Claiborne petites sag, Gloria Vanderbilt jeans sag and so on.

Main problem is sagging. They’re snug when I put them on but walking around I have to constantly tug them up because the crotch starts hanging lower and it’s miserable.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I am looking to upgrade my spring summer wardrobe/capsule, and I realized that most challenging pieces are base layers. I’m on the seemingly impossible hunt for structured, opaque shells to wear under my blazers, but is is difficult to find something that is comfortable and professional.

Here is what I have at the moment that I am not too happy about:

• Tradional button-downs: The constantly gape at the chest (my chest are on the bigger side) and gets wrinkled as soon as I sit down or move around.

• Silk camisoles: a bit too sheer and too revealing, so I have to wear an uncomfortable strapless bra underneath.

• Standard cotton tanks: The ones I have are a bit flimsy and too casual for my strict work environment.

TBH, wearing a stiff blouse paired with an underwire bra and a summer blazer is so restricting, not to mention too hot for this summer heat.

Right now I have a couple pieces that I rotate heavily, a heavy-weight rib tank (looks professional, but I still have to wear a strapless bra) and this one brami I like (which is thick, matte, and has built-in support, so bye bye bra).

I want to expand my choices. Does anyone have other recommendations for corporate base layers? I am looking for something that make thick, high-density tops that mimic the look of tailoring but is also stretchy and breathable.

I’m new to capsule wardrobes. I’m a bit of a shopaholic and I always buy clothes and accessories because I like them.

Since starting capsule wardrobes (professional, summer everyday, winter everyday, and fancy) I have changed how I buy and use my wardrobe.

I focus on my closet gaps. I consider what outfits I can make with new purchases. I make my wardrobe work harder by really thinking about how one piece can slot be a part of different outfits.

As much as I love the concept and execution of indyx- I feel like in 2026 there has to be something more convenient that allows you to extract just the clothes out of a fit pic instead of flat lays, it would be so nice to build your digital wardrobe over time just from photos you're already taking, and of course the result is more realistic than a flatlay as well. My wardrobe has been slowly collapsing into chaos and I finally decided to anchor everything around one base color, sand/offwhite, and just build from there. The idea was that everything touches everything else and nothing sits unworn at the back of the rail.

It worked for about two weeks and then I bought a burgundy linen shirt because it was perfect and now I am staring at a growing burgundy subcluster forming in the corner.

The thing I keep going back and forth on is whether a true capsule needs one strict base or whether two neutrals is still legitimate. I have seen people here pull off navy and camel together as a foundation and it looks cohesive. But whenever I try to give myself that flexibility I end up drifting and adding a third thing and suddenly it is just a regular wardrobe with aspirations.

Curious whether anyone here actually holds to one base color rigidly or if that level of strictness is more of a starting framework than a permanent rule. Also wondering if people who travelpack their capsules find it easier to stay disciplined because the constraints are physical rather than just mental.

I was originally going to build my wardrobe almost entirely from SHEIN because it’s cheap, but after reading lots of Reddit posts I’ve decided against it. The quality and fast fashion aspect just aren’t what I want long-term.

I realized my biggest wardrobe problem was buying clothes because they looked cute on their own.

For years, I would see something I liked from brands like H&M, Zara, and Few Moda and convince myself I needed it. The problem was that a lot of those pieces only worked with one outfit or for one specific occasion. They looked great when I bought them, but they rarely became part of my everyday rotation.

I need help with basic rules. Specificaly- how many pieces of what kind of clothes should I have. For context: I live in place with "moderate climate", and I work corporate job, where I can dress casually.
