Any good builds for around 2k In the big 2026?

2 Upvotes

* New build or upgrade?

New build

* Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)

No existing parts except my old key board and mouse

* PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)

Mainly gaming, like modded Minecraft or the occasional marvel rivals. Also can handle being streamed in discord

* Purchase country? Near Micro Center?

US, and nowhere near a micro center

* Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)

Yes 1-2, 24", 1080p or 4k doesn't matter, unsure for refresh rate

* Budget range? (Include tax considerations)

I would like the PC to be around 2k, I'm willing to go above it at most 200

Monitor less than 1k

* WiFi or wired connection?

Only a wired ethernet connection is fine for now.

* Size/noise constraints?

Im fine with the noise but nothing too loud

* Color/lighting preferences?

No preference as long as I can go from purple to green

* Any other specific needs?

I would like at least 2TB storage and 32GB RAM(if that's possible anymore :')) Please include brackets to prevent GPU sag

PC to play single-player games

4 Upvotes

Hey all, I've been a console player my whole life but now I want to get into PC gaming since there's a wider variety of games to play.

  • New build or upgrade?
    • New build
  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
    • None
  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
    • Mostly single-player games like Victoria 3. Might try to play online with my friends, but that is not a priority since I have a PS5 for that. I'm also not picky about graphics.
  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors)
    • USA. Not anymore unfortunately :(
  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
    • Already have monitors. If I need to upgrade after building the PC I'll look into it then.
  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
    • Prefer under $1,000, but ok with going a little over. I'm ok waiting until after the holidays to build the PC in order to take advantage of sales.
  • WiFi or wired connection?
    • I have an ethernet cord.
  • Size/noise constraints?
    • Prefer quiet but this is something I'm willing to budge on.
  • Color/lighting preferences?
    • None
  • Any other specific needs?
    • No.

I don't know anything about building a PC but I really want to learn, so I appreciate this community!

Help me build my own high end Steam Console

2 Upvotes

I'm trying to build something as small as possible so it fits neatly on my TV unit and looks more like a console. Want to run SteamOS on it, strictly just for my TV. I know SteamOS is still relatively new and runs better with an AMD GPU, I'm happy running Windows OS in the interim. I already have a gaming PC with monitors, keyboard and mouse etc, but since Sony's moving away from physical discs, I want to build my own console instead. I much prefer to play my single player games on my couch and TV.

This is my project over the next year. Since parts are expensive thanks to AI, I will be purchasing my hardware slowly over 12 months.

Goal is native 4K gaming, minimum 60fps, ultra graphical settings with all the ray tracing bells and whistles (no need for path tracing). Also want it to be future proofed. Hence, 64GB ram, etc.

I've played with a options but since I want it as small as possible, my main concern is sufficient mounting depth to support a liquid CPU cooler, and also the RAM clearance with the CPU cooler and other parts.

Details as follows:

- New build or upgrade?

NEW

- Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)

FOR MY 65IN LG C4 OLED TV

- PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)

GAMING. MAINLY AA/AAA SINGLE PLAYER TITLES.

- Purchase country? Near Micro Center?

AUSTRALIA

- Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)

NO

- Budget range? (Include tax considerations)

AIMING FOR NO MORE THAN $6000 AUD.

- WiFi or wired connection?

WIRED. BUT MIGHT AS WELL HAVE WIFI WITH MOBO.

- Size/noise constraints?

ALMOST LIKE A LUNCH BOX. SMALL SIZE. COMPACT, SLEEK AND EFFEICIENT.

- Color/lighting preferences?

NO RGB. ALL BLACK.

- Any other specific needs?

CPU: RYZEN 7 9800X3D

GPU: RTX 5080

RAM: 64GB (2 X 32GB DDR5-6000)

STORAGE: MINIMUM 2TB M.2

OS: SteamOS/Windows 11

PS: MINIMUM GOLD+ 850W. PREFER 1000W.
