The first episode is a great example. She can jump high enough to easily swoop over the school gate, a feat she’s never shown repeating throughout the series. And then less than ten minutes later, this lower body strength seems to have given up on life when a vampire grabs her leg as she’s trying to climb out of the sewers and instead of being able to kick it through the earth’s crust as the previous scene established, Xander has to yank her back.

I was mentioning about Buffy's romance with Angel and her being 16 in Season One of the show and it occurred to me that the Bronze being a nightclub that 16 year old High Schoolers went to regularly is incredibly weird.

First of all, how many parents would let their 16 year old kids go there and why would a nightclub be letting them in?

Is this a common thing in a America? If a bunch of 16 year old kids went to a pub where I live without parents, they would be asked to leave. Even with parents, you would be asked to leave early enough unless there was a function on.

Given the rise of AI in the modern day, combined with how at the end of the episode Moloch's physical body was destroyed but the demon itself is likely immortal as it still resides within the depths of the internet - waiting for its next victim; I feel like he's tailor-made for the continuation to do something bigger with!

S5E22 of Just Shoot Me. I was suprised to see Pam from True Blood was Allie. Was even better when she & Finch talk about Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And to top it off a few seconds later, Finch called her* a bloodsucker!

The reviews for the show have been mixed, but the actress portraying younger Elle is so spot on that you question whether or not it’s Reese Witherspoon herself! 😆 Aside from good casting, there’s good dynamics, funny moments, and tons of pop culture references (yes, Buffy was one of them)!

Maybe Buffy wouldn’t have been decked out in pink like Elle, but she sure would’ve rocked some of Elle’s outfits bc she’s literally the inspiration for Elle! I’ve been thinking about how similar they are personally wise too! Both bubbly, witty, smart, and so on! If Lexi Minetree (the actress) was around in the 90s, she would’ve made an amazing Buffy! 😁

I walked down to my comic shop this morning really looking forward to the first issue only to see it not on the shelf. When I went to the front desk, it wasn’t on their list for today. Then I checked Twitter and Gemini and turns out Dynamite have quietly delayed the first issue. So call your comic shops to confirm but hopefully this will save people the journey I had to make.

Recently been playing the old games and have decided to try and make some outfits, anyone tried this or got some tips?

When this episode initially aired I saw it. It didn't have too much of an impact on me because I didn't get the chance to see the prior seasons. I wasn't sure how I would react to it now that I've seen almost every episode...

I felt strange and I can't explain it, but there was a part of me that wanted to vomit. It wasn't until the paramedics left and Joyce was on the floor that I began to think: "Joyce, get up. Wake up." I started crying.

It hurt to see Willow panicking about her outfit and I understood Xander's anger and wanting to blame anyone for what happened.

It's the only time in the entire series where I wanted Anya to shut up and not say a word and I love Anya.

I didn't care to see any demons, vampires, or Glory.

I'm glad Tara was there to let Buffy know she went through it too and she has an understanding of what it's like to lose a parent.

I'll always love and respect Joyce for her unconditional love for Dawn when Buffy tells her the truth. Joyce was the parent a lot kids wanted and needed.

Now, I'm questioning why they had to write her off of the show.

I always wondered if Buffy ever got nervous or scared while patrolling or when facing off against a demon. Sure, she’s got her Slayer powers, but there’s always a chance she might not come out of it alive. There have been a few times when she seemed worried if she’d be able to defeat a particular evil (like Glory) but do we think that part of being the Slayer is having a natural confidence in one’s ability to win in battle? Does her instinct to slay override any anxieties or adrenaline she might feel?

1. Season 7: Unpopular but I thought this and season 5 had the strongest overarching stories and subplots. There was also always something going on. I thought the introduction of the potentials was a really creative idea and I think this season has some of the strongest development for Buffy. I really appreciated how they handled the Buffy and Spike relationship too. I know he has a soul and that he is a completely different man but I don't think it would have been good if they started a sexual relationship again. I don't think something that traumatic should be glossed over and it was done so beautifully. I think season 7 Spike is the healthiest man Buffy had ever been with, which is not saying a lot.
2. Season 5: Just a really strong season and the Dawn plot twist is one of the best the show ever did. I am someone who loves Dawn and I don't get the hate. I also think the growth Buffy goes through in this season is amazing. She really gets to shine in seasons 5 and 7. So many iconic moments in each. I also think this season perfected the ratio of serialization with motw episodes. Imo the pacing is just a lot better in the later seasons. I can't mention this season without talking about "The Body." It is the best episode of television period.
3. Season 6: Probably the most important season the show has ever made. The whole show is character driven but this is the season where all of their issues come to light. I firmly believe SMG should have won an emmy for her performance in multiple seasons but her acting is especially stellar here. I also thought the trio were really well written and it was unexpected how evil they became.
4. Season 2: I feel like the characters are very enjoyable in this season and it is when the cast really gels. I love the MOTW episodes and Cordelia/Oz become apart of the gang. The Giles and Buffy dynamic is at its peak here as well. Spike and Drusilla are so interesting to watch and I loved Dru's backstory so much. I think Kendra's introduction elevated the show because we eventually get to meet Faith and I love how she is a foil for Buffy. Of course, the Angelus arc is amazing and had me sobbing. Buffy did not deserve that and her guilt was so sad to watch. I will say that the pacing of this season is kinda funky as well. Angelus legit doesn't do anything for episodes at a time and I think they should have killed Xander in this season, as it would have really raised the stakes. I love "Passion" but Angelus doesn't really do anything again until the finale. I love "I Only Have Eyes For You" and the way it deals with Buffy's guilt but I feel like they needed a more elaborate plan to fill up 22 episodes. Maybe keep the Judge around since he got killed so easily. Overall, a really great season but it has some weaker episodes and odd pacing.
5. Season 3: Good season but I feel like the ones above are significantly stronger. There are some great episodes but the characters are kinda off this season. I felt like they changed them in order to service underwhelming plotlines. "Dead Mans Party" is the most infuriating episode of the show for me and I think the writing is just ugh. I don't understand why they were so mad she left when she went to LA last summer to visit her Dad. It just didn't make any sense and they were so cruel. Willow and Xander cheating was so sloppy and I think it was poor timing. This should have happened in early season 2 for sure. Not when they are in happy couples. Cordelia is also my fav character besides Buffy in the early seasons and they sidelined her. It is unfortunate because she was developing so well and then they just made her season 1 Cordelia again. Also, what was the point of Wesley and Cordelia???? I did not like the changes they made to Buffy's character. She became super goody goody and they were not subtle about her being the "good slayer." So much about her changed and I couldn't stand the love triangle of Faith/Angel/Buffy. They should have kept Angel dead. They broke up so many times and I think it was really off putting. Lastly, can we talk about the Mayor's plan being one of the worst of all the big bads. Why did he want to become a giant snake? The pacing is just a bit off too, as nothing of note happens until episode 14. Anyways, I still thoroughly enjoy this season but it kinda annoys me after a couple rewatches.
6. Season 4: Banger after banger in this season tbh. The standalones and college vibe are amazing but I wish Maggie Walsh stuck around. I also think the pacing is probably the worst of any season besides 1. Nothing really happens with the plot in the second half. They could have done some cool things with Adam but he isn't really around. That doesn't bother me much though because the standalone episodes are fantastic and everyone goes through a lot of development. I will say that they should have made Xander join the initiative. Would have been so interesting to see. I also think Buffy and Riley are a big step up after Angel and Buffy from season 3. I even like "Beer Bad" sorry not sorry.
7. Season 1: Great season still and I don't have many complaints. Characters are great and it sets the whole show up. However, it is the weakest because there are so many weak episodes with none of the highs found in other seasons. I think this could have been a great season if they had focused more on the Master, but he was barely featured. Probably the most disappointing villain because we could have learned so much more about his connection to Angel. Prophecy Girl is amazing tho and SMG acted her ass off.

So I have seen both series' more times than I can count and I went on a spree buying most of the books, but I didn't really get around to reading very many of them. Has anyone read them? Are they any good, the few that I have read were decent but I felt like they didn't follow the established canon from the shows. Anyways I picked one up last night and started reading it, it was one that I always wanted to read but never found the time to sit down and read, Spike and Dru, pretty maids in a row. I was only a few pages into it and I realized that it was directly contradicting the show, it takes place in the 1940s during WW2, but in the last season of angel in the episode "Why we Fight" (I think) it's established that spike was being held by the Nazis because they were doing experiments on demons and trying to find a way to use their power in the war. Do all the books contradict the shows that much? I would like to get some opinions on whether they are worth reading or not

With physical media getting an uptick in sales and interest from the general population as of late, now seems like a perfect time to release a new scan of Buffy on 4K. With boutique labels releasing all kinds of sets including Stranger Things, it doesn’t seem as impossible anymore. 🥹🙌✨ help me manifest.

So I have been a fan of the Buffy/Angel series' for a long time and I think that they have some of the best written characters in any fictional universe. I want to know who everyone else thinks has the best story arc. I can't decide if it's Wesley or Spike.

Wesley started out as a bumbling fool, and then he grew into a capable fighter alongside angel, and then he betrayed angel not out of malice but because he thought he was doing the right thing. He later finds angel in his underwater tomb that Connor left him in to rot, while he has a morally ambiguous relationship with Lyla, all the while he's pining over Fred. When he finally gets to be with Fred she is soon infected with allyria (don't have a clue how to spell that) and her body is taken over by the ancient god, but he puts his feelings aside and tries to help her find her place in the world after he helped angel get her powers down to a more manageable level which actually saves her. While all that is going on he slips farther into alcoholism, and in the last battle he was beaten and while he laid there dying allyria shows up and finished off his adversary and as he was dying she asked him if he wanted her to lie to him again and he said yes, so she reverted back to Fred and gives him his last moment with her. I'm a 43 year old man and I will cry like a baby everytime I see that scene.

My other choice would be spike, he started as a vampire that had one goal to kill the slayer. Throughout flashbacks we learned that he was a failed poet and his life was taken by Drusilla, and then over the next decades he killed 2 slayers. When he was captured by the initiative he had a chip implanted in his brain and he couldn't hurt humans anymore but his pentient for violence put him on the same side as Buffy and her friends, after he spends quite a bit of time fighting along side the slayer he gains her trust and she helped him get the chip out of his head and he falls in love with Buffy and while she doesn't return his love she does find herself sleeping with him and when she breaks it off he is overwhelmed and he crossed the line and sexually assaulted her, he's sickened by his behavior he leaves and fights to get his soul back which he succeeded in doing. He comes back to show buffy that he's a changed man only to find that she still doesn't want to be with him but he's grown and accepts her wishes and still fights along side her to the end, where he plays a pivotable role in the final battle. He is then resurrected by Lindsey in as part of his plan to get back at Angel but when he discovered that he was being used he joins Angel and his crew to help them in the fight against evil where he once again plays a pivotable role in the last battle and saves a baby who is held by a demon clan and is supposed to be a leader for them in the future.

My hot take is that spike is more of a hero than Angel sure angel fights for against evil and he's on the right side of the battle between good and evil but his soul was thrust upon him as a curse that he feels the all pain and guilt that he inflicted on his victims, but spike fought for his soul and overcame the odds to become a champion of good.

I think that all the characters in both shows have incredible story arcs some of the best in all of fiction and I'm excited to hear what everyone else thinks and who they think are the best characters.
