After years of not playing, I’ve started collecting… 🙌

Here's some photos of an old E flat tuba I got not that long ago. I've since had it professionally repaired and the best they could tell me was that it's around 1930s to 1940s given the style of the buttons and bracing, but I have yet to find another tuba that has the same combination of wrap and bell proportions. Anybody here have some better idea of what kind of horn I have here? It has no markings except for a serial number, D10114

I'm a two days old tenor horn player.
I have found videos from Mr Sagar's Brass Channel to be really great but I really struggle to get to the upper notes (I know that when I say C to G and G to D this is a fiction as the instrument is in Eb).
Any tips?
Perhaps videos showing how to blow higher pitch notes that actually show how to achieve that.

So i recently bought a 2ndhand trumpet from a stranger and it came with this mouthpiece.

The shaft is a lot shorter then that of a normal trumpet mouthpiece.

When i try to put it on the trumpet the whole shaft just sinks into the leadpipe.

Can anybody help me identify it?

I'm a flute player learning brass and this month's instrument is bass trombone. I've played euphonium for the last 10 or so months, but trombone only for 1 or 2. Tone/support, trigger usage, slide technique, anything helps.

Hello! I am going to be helping out with the marching band (specifically the brass people) and I know that a lot of them struggle to read music, and memorize fingerings. Something that really helped one kid was BrassFlows and I was curious if anyone knows of a mobile alternative so that I can have all of them download it and try and have a competition to see who can get the highest score by the end of band camp. It is like five kids total and if I can get them all able to read and correlate each note with it's fingerings we will be extremely successful. Thank you!

Hi all, long time lurker, first time poster. I recently purchased an antique Frank Holton and Co alto horn, circa about 1917, an old USQMC surplus piece. I just had it restored, but it doesn't have a mouthpiece, and I'm looking for advice on what type of mouthpiece would be good for a beginner. I have a background in low brass - tuba and euphonium - though I'm a few decades out of practice. Technically, the horn has an adapter for a French horn mouthpiece, and the shop gave me a leftover, but it really struggles to hit the lower register.

The brass specialist at the shop had never worked with alto horns and really didn't have many suggestions other than recommending brands (Garibaldi, Denis Wick). The only thing he could tell me pretty definitively was that it should take a standard alto horn mouthpiece. I live in the US, so knowledge about the instrument is pretty limited.

Do the lips vibrate both outward and inward, like saloon doors, or outward only?

I’m raising funds to restore a rare Julius Ludermann trombone This instrument is a piece of early 20th century brass history and represents a time when many instruments were individually crafted with incredible attention to detail Unfortunately due to its age it needs restoration work to preserve its condition and bring it back to playable shape My goal is to repair it while keeping as much of the original craftsmanship and character intact as possibl I’m hoping to preserve this instrument rather than let it continue to deteriorate allowing it to continue making music for future generation If you’re interested in historic brass instruments restoration or supporting the preservation of musical history help or even just sharing the project would mean a lot

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help. I started tenor horn 5 months ago (never played brass before), have had a few lessons for breathing and technique... and practice every week with a very inclusive and patient local brass band. Even though I practice the lessons and pieces and scales I've been given every day for at least 30 minutes, I still can't consistently reach E. I haven't had any problem with all the low notes, and I practice those a lot because I know it is supposed to help. Am I never going to get this? Feeling a little demoralised. I don't want to let the band down. The 2nd horn parts often go up to F, and that is a distant dream for me right now! Are there any tips? Are there just some people who simply never get there? Or should I just keep plugging away? I'm even worse at the high notes when I've been playing for a little while for some reason.

It’s on Marketplace described as “LJM brand”, but I can’t find anything resembling this logo! Described as a student instrument, and in Australia.

I’d be happy to learn anything! I’m guessing it’s not great quality, I am just hoping to get started and looking for something cheap that might take me through the baby steps :)
