Are there some actual Brazilians that could tell me what things to improve when playing some Bossa Nova? I love that style of music, even though here in Finland nobody knows any bossa songs.

A live performance of Antônio Carlos Jobim's "Chovendo na Roseira," arranged in a 3/4 groove.This arrangement is performed entirely live and simultaneously without the use of loop stations. I hope this reaches all the Marcos Valle fans out there because what this man has done for me is truly remarkable. I’m a 20 year-old professional athlete, multi instrumentalist, and linguist, and I taught myself Portuguese six years ago, just to be able to speak with him. I fell in love with bossa nova and Samba as well as Marcatu! Marco says over 150 songs which I’ve memorized to be able to speak Portuguese and I’ve studied so many interview clips with him. He gave me around 10 minutes of his time and he was one of the nicest people I’ve met and he was so appreciative of my journey. I hope to meet up with him in Brazil and maybe record a song! What a freaking legend of Brazilian music.

I started posting videos of myself singing to some of his older unless they’re known songs in he began to take notice on Instagram so before the July 10 show in Miami at ZeyZey I DM him and he responded saying he would love to meet me and I got to see him during the weather delay because of the absolute monsoon we almost experienced! I’d recommend flattering a celebrity and making a hoodie saying you’re his number one fan so that it’s sure you can meet the man who inspired you. Ive always knew who Yamundu Costa was but its only now that ive got the time on my hands to listen to him. Ive been listening to this album only for the past 2 days and cant get enough this stuff. Do yall know any other albums like these where it's more or less just guitar with the same kinda style ?

Never gave Steve Allen much thought--just kind of lumped him in with the umpteen easy-listening records from the 60's, but this 1967 record is great. Light n breezy, all high-quality originals, featuring Steve on piano and melodica, also with Laurindo Almeida on guitar and Bud Shank on sax and flute. It's not a party record (unless it's an extremely mellow party). If you need your blood pressure instantly lowered, give this album a spin.

Anyone a fan of Walter Wanderley? I've noticed a lot of the songs he's played on or arranged he isn't credited on or is credited by pseudonyms such as "Sir Walter Scott" or "Mike Falcao". This makes it hard to actually find the entire of his work. I know Spotify is missing a lot of albums he worked on. But, it's where I listen to music, so I decided to compile every bit of Wanderley's work I know of available there together. This is a working list, and if anyone knows of anything else obscure he may have had a part in, please speak up!

I recently read Ruy Castro’s fantastic book on the history of Bossa Nova, and this led me to discover the 1964 album Bossa Nova at Carnegie Hall.

There’s a track called Sound of Bossa Nova in New York / Bossa Nova em Nova York, which says it’s by Caetano Zama & Oscar Castro-Neves Quartet. If I look at the song credits on Apple Music it says Caetano Zama is on vocals is and listed as a composer (in addition to Oscar Castro-Neves Quartet listed as “performer”).

What’s confusing to me is that I can find nothing on Caetano Zama otherwise. On Apple Music this is the only track he’s credited to. A general web search tuns up one 1963 single Menino Triste, for which I found a Youtube video of a microphone recording an old record playing. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RX3ZUnuzTB4)

That’s it. Who is this guy? Presumably if he was sent to New York with the rest of the gang for the famed Carnegie Hall concert then he must have had some Bossa Nova bonafides, but it seems he dropped off the map after this.

I just really love both of their music so much. And so does my teenager. I’ve always loved bossa nova but grew up what kind of punk and Indie rock kid in the 80s and 90s. Just found out about the whole genre and very interested in it.
