My friend and I (both 26-year-old men) are flying to Sarajevo in mid-August, and we'd also like to spend some time in Montenegro during our trip. We'll be away for a total of nine days.

The best option we've found so far is the bus, but it takes more than six hours each way. We're not particularly excited about spending that much time on a bus twice during a relatively short trip.

I was wondering if anyone with experience traveling in the region could recommend any alternative routes or ways of getting from Sarajevo to Montenegro. Might as well take the same amount of time, but train or perhaps boat would feel a lot more enjoyable. And for those of you who have taken the bus, what was your experience like? Was it comfortable and reliable? Any general tips or advice would be much appreciated.

Hi everyone! In a few weeks me and my gf will be doing a roadtrip through Bosnia, but we have little time to do it (5 days).

First we were planning to do: Lukomir->Mostar->Kravice waterfalls & Stećci Medieval Tombstone Graveyards ->Una park -> Jajce and back to sarajevo. But this seems too tiring.

Now we are trying to decide if we should go south and keep that part of the route or if we should go north and only visit Una park, Jajce and add Banja Luka for example.

In general we are looking to balance nature and culture, don't spend a lot of money because... we are Portuguese and escape super crowded places since it's August. We don't want to instigate a discussion on which part is "better". Every part of a country is precious. Thank you!

Hi everyone! My grandma lives in a smallish town in Bosnia. Maybe 100k people total.

She’s been saying how much she wants a laptop. I would love to buy and send her one, however I am in the US and the tariffs are outrageous.

I have been looking online and I cannot for the life of me figure out where to buy a laptop and have someone pick it up and bring it to her. All I see is some place called Bingo and they have One(1) Lenovo laptop.

I’m getting very frustrated 😭 can anyone help me out with an online retailer?

But also, what stores do you guys go to to buy them in general because now I am curious? Where do people get their iPhones and Mac’s from?

Today I was in Martin Brod and visited the two caves right next to each other in the village. Now I’m curious if anyone knows more about them.
Does anyone know if these caves have names, how long they are, or if the two caves are connected? I couldn’t really find much about them online.

I am not Bosnian but I’m interested in the history and culture of the area and would love to learn more from that community. My husband and I will be in BiH for about 90 days (October - December). We usually stay in 1 location for month and then move to another location and stay for a month. Would that be a good strategy in BiH? The only places I've looked at are Sarajevo, Mostar, and Trebinje... not sure if staying a month in those locations is a good idea or not.

Would you recommend staying in those locations for a month each? Are there other locations that you'd stay a month? Or is a month just too long?

We are planning to enter through Šamac prielaz amd exit through Strmica back to croatia.
Are there toll booths or some kind of vignette?

I’m planning a trip to Bosnia next year after starting FY1 as a doctor in the UK. I’ll most likely be flying from Glasgow (GLA) to Sarajevo (SJJ), and I know it’ll probably involve at least one connection.
A few questions:
Which airlines/routes have worked well for you from Glasgow?
Which connection airports are the easiest (Amsterdam, Vienna, Munich, Frankfurt, etc.)?
How much connection time would you recommend to avoid unnecessary stress?
Is a 4-day trip (Friday–Monday) enough if I take Friday and Monday as annual leave?
My plan was to base myself in Sarajevo and do Mostar as a guided day tour rather than stay overnight. Does that sound like the best approach for a first visit?
For context, I enjoy history, old towns, football, scenic walks and good local food. I don’t drink alcohol, so I’m mainly interested in the culture, architecture and scenery.

I'd love to hear your recommendations, whether it's a place with an amazing view, a beautiful hike, a hidden waterfall, a great restaurant or café, a fun activity, or just somewhere you think is worth visiting. I know Bosnia has experienced political tensions for many years, and thankfully they have never escalated into another war. However, some recent developments have made me wonder how prepared the country would actually be if the worst were to happen.
For example, Serbia has reportedly agreed to a major weapons deal with Israel worth around $1.6 billion. I also saw statements by Željka Cvijanović about the need to protect Christian communities in Bosnia. Combined with the ongoing political disputes involving Republika Srpska, it made me think about Bosnia's ability to defend itself if a conflict ever broke out.
The 1990s were devastating for Bosnia, and despite starting at a huge military disadvantage, the country managed to build an effective fighting force over time.
Today, how prepared are the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina? Have they been modernized enough to defend the country if necessary? Given the political divisions within Bosnia, especially the stance of Republika Srpska toward the central state, would those internal issues affect Bosnia's ability to respond?
I'm not saying I think war is imminent, I sincerely hope it never happens. I'm just interested in understanding how capable Bosnia is of defending itself today compared to the 1990s.

I just found out you have you register yourself at the police on arrival and I’m confused about what you have to do. Me and my boyfriend are going to bosnia for 6 days and I have been there many times but never registered myself. We are staying at a relatives house but some people say you have to have them with you when you register but a family friend who is a police officer in Bosnia says you don’t have it. Does anyone have any experience with this? I already know that hotels and airbnb hosts are obligated to register you.

I will try to make this post short and simple and in english - Još ne govorim/razumjiem dobro bosanski, ali bih ga želio vježbati! I do find reddit a bit more charming than the bumble bff mode for example.

Over my ex I established quite a big attachment to BiH. I learned to love and admire the country, the multifaceted culture, the fun and lively people and the amazing food. I miss these aspects of the past.

I also dove really deep into its history and the complexity + unfairness, the country has faced in the course of time.

I realized, that I would like to keep connecting with other people from Bosnia and/or the Diaspora - if there is mutual interest for such a thing!

So if there is anyone between mid 20s and mid 30s wanting to chat/meet up with a potential friend (f, early 30s) from Italy (who lives in the capital of Austria) - hmu!

I am a rather geeky (internet culture, video games, anime, lotr), active (outdoors), ambivert and adventurous (hobbies..) person with study/work background in STEM (science and stuff).

Aaand I am motivated to continue a Bosnian-language course in fall as well as planning to revisit next year (esp. for the film festival and the wild horses).
