Greg Bovino sightings

Has anyone seen Greg Bovino around lately? Or has he figured out that he’s not respected in this area? I’m hoping he’s decided to pack up and move. Boone doesn’t need Nazi wannabes hanging around and giving the entire area a bad name. My personal opinion.

Duke Energy wanted an 18% rate increase on families. We pushed back, now they want 9.5%. Still too high. No deal. - AG Jeff Jackson

Attorney recommendations

We are looking for an attorney to add myself to the deed to the house my husband purchased before we married. We didn’t think it was necessary at first bc we thought that if something happened to him, it would automatically transfer to me (I have been paying half the mortgage for years). But now reading that in NC, it always goes to probate court if spouse is not listed on deed or mortgage. Hoping to keep it relatively affordable. It seems like we could go with an option off the mountain, we would just have to see a notary and file the docs at the courthouse. Anyone have experience with this or have any recommendations?

Dog has a collar on, was in traffic and very distressed. I tried to catch him. Just beware while driving on bamboo towards or away from the hospital. I couldn't catch him to help him. He's fast and scared. He's definitely someone's fur baby

august trip recs

looking for recommendations for fun summer activities/plans for a 3 day trip in August. We’ve got an off grid campsite and will spend a bulk of our time there, however, looking for some extra fun that isn’t hiking (we’ve got our favorite hikes planned out already). What are your best kept secrets!!! We’re both in our 20s, mobile, we drink but that’s not all we wanna do 😭😭

Pic taken from the Grandfather Mountain mile high bridge. I’m assuming a resort but couldn’t verify on the internet. Not sure what city it would actually be considered?

Update to the Capone's Pizza Game Night!

Since I'm the one that started this, I felt I should post that I probably won't be there until 5:30 due to a previous obligation I forgot about. If you're interested in playing board games at Capone's Pizza, I will see you there on Sunday the 19th!

Locals Discord

Hi friends!

I noticed a lot of people posting looking for friends in the area. As far as I know, there is no discord for locals to connect, so I made one.

There aren't many rules besides be respectful (no doxxing, no -phobias, etc) and no NSFW (keep it to the DMs).

Feel free to join, and please make suggestions on things you'd like to see. Thanks!

Game Night at Capone's 7/19

Hey everyone! I posted about this recently but wanted to get a reminder out there. I'm starting a new game group for any board game enthusiasts and the owner of Capone's has graciously offered space to play. Sunday 7/19 at 5pm, I'll be there with a few games and would love to meet fellow players! I'm also hoping to do this bi-weekly.

A little about me. My name is John and I'm a 40yo game enthusiasts with a sizable collection, much of which I haven't even played yet. (Collecting and playing are two separate hobbies, lol.) Father of two, so family game night is a big deal in our house. I like almost any kind of game but have a preference for rpg-lite experiences, euro strategy, and anything with an impressive table presence. Some of my favorites include King of Tokyo, Mice and Mystics, Flamecraft, and Merchants Cove.

The games I'll have with me Sunday will be King of Tokyo, Takenoko, and Flamecraft. Easy to learn and get into! Hope to see you there!

Site engineer

Not sure if what I’m looking for exists… we have some family land about 30 mins outside Boone and we are considering adding a house on the property. Was hoping to find an engineer to walk the property and help me determine best place to locate the house, where to potentially dig a well, etc. I’ve found some commercial site engineers online but can’t really find any residential engineers. Any ideas of local folks I could talk to?

Thx!

Where can I find photos from Boonerang?

I was in the parade sunday, June 20th this year. I saw tons of photographers that captured some of my family members who were also in the parade and I'd love to have those photos but wouldn't know where to look.

Beech Mtn Summer Concert Series - Turnpike

Hey all — I'll be up at Beech Mountain this weekend and was looking to catch the Turnpike Troubadours show Saturday, but it's sold out and I wasn't able to grab a ticket in time.

If anyone finds themselves with an extra or can't make it last minute, I'd really appreciate the chance to buy it off you (happy to pay face value or work out whatever's fair). Figured I'd put it out there just in case!

Thanks for reading, and hope you all have a great weekend.

Beech Mtn/Boone Solo Trip Advice

Hey all,

I am planning an solo trip to the area for about a month in the winter. My primary focus will be to snowboard as much as possible, but I would also really enjoy some socialization, as I don't anticipate wanting to be alone for a whole month. As of now I am leaning toward Beech over Sugar, as the season lift passes are half the price for Beech.

Here is the main question: Would it make more sense to find a place on the mountain, and make the drive into town every time I wish to meet people? Or stay in Boone, and make the drive to Beech a few times a week to board?

If I stayed on the mountain would there be bars/someplace to go to meet people nearby? Any thoughts/recommendations are appreciated.

Thanks!
