Have this 7 years old Podocarpus for 6 months now and in the last few days it started to get very dry even though I water it every day.
Yesterday this white stuff appeared in the base.
What is this? Please help me, I think it might be sick or with some kind of bug.

He's Kogi (yes, I gave him a name) and he's my new bonsai, a Chinese pepper tree... I've had 2 in the past (both ficus ginseng) but the second one was given to me sick (he had a fungus or something) and he infected the other one (which I had for 2 or 3 years) and they both died: (... I wanted to try again! Any advice? I've already pruned it a little bit but I have no idea if I should bring it again (the bro has too many leaves Lol). He also drinks a lot of water...I leave in sicily (Italy) and in general I spray demineralized water on the leaves once a day and give the water in the pot every 4 days but he drinks it all in 1 day!

Still a lot of growing needs doing , but I'm happy with this , what do you think of this bonsai ?

It's a ficus ginseng. I know they lose leaves on a whim, but seeing the images side by side is really depressing for me and I'd like to do something to help my plant bounce back. I think I may have overfed it, what do I do if that's the case?

Hello! Very new to all things bonsai and sorry if this is a dumb question, but this tree means a lot to me since it was gifted to me by my friends right after my dad died. so it feels very irreplaceable to me. i’m very nervous that the leaves are shriveling. it was super thirsty the other day so i watered it, probably too much, cause now the soil is quite damp still after a couple days and the leaves still look bad. i’m scared, I can’t lose this plant. i literally call it my dad lol.

Can cutting this of make a new branch grow out?

I have 4 Japanese yews in my front yard. I would love to bonsai them but I don't have a clue where to start. Any advice would be appreciated. TIA

Hi, i want to show you one of my small jade trees. This is a 2 year old cutting before and after summer trimming last weekend. Its just a pleasure to play with this small ones. I think IT will have a bright future ❣️

Will my samplings grow more branches further down the stem. I transplanted these from 2 qtr containers into this bigger pot. I did trim them and so far I’ve only gotten leaves and branches at the very top.

I have a few more still on the grown which I plan to leave there to see how much quicker they will grow

Bought a bonsai starter kit thing and this is a royal pocina, bottom large leaves have started turning yellow ive followed the instructions to keep the soil "damp like a wet sponge" it does stay on a windowsill on the side of my house

First time poster and just joined but I wanted to gauge people’s opinion on this thing I made. So I got a Fukien Tea Bonsai earlier this year around March. Made a full enclosure for it because I had previously been unable to grow a cactus. So keeping this thing alive became personal lmao anyways it’s mainly just to help keep the environment stable, help with watering, and monitor humidity & temp levels for easy checking. It has a moisture sensor but I haven’t set it up yet so it just chills in the back of the enclosure (is wired up tho). If I made files available (like open source it), would any of you make one for yourselves? I’ll plan on making a better/cleaner version but wanted to gauge interest or improvements before doing a V2. Please let me know what you think! Here’s some photos of my Bonsai too over the course of having it! 🙏💜

Can i leave my ficus bonsai outside during my vacation for around 2 weeks? I looked tp the weather and the temperature qill not drop below 12 degrees celsius and they only have morning sun, shielded by the wall in the afternoon. I'd like them outside seprated from the rest as they are treated for trips and i do not want to infect my other plants inside. I will connect them to my irrigation system outside so they get water.

Is it true that cutting small holes can make new branches grow?

My bonsai's don't have many branches, which are annoying due to two of them having somewhat thick trunks.

Someone gave me a bonsai starter kit, which contained jacaranda seeds, and they are doing surprisingly well; alas the starter kit did not mention how to make them into bonsai. From what I learned so far, I'm just letting them grow in larger and larger pots. But what should I aim for style-wise? I have four of them;

-one I didnt do anything with, it is now a stick with leaves; when the trunk is wide enough can I cut it down bach to a stocky straight trunk?

-one looked the same, a stick with leaves but I wired it last week in a yolo attempt (just following Claude's advice) at a later literati style.

-Two of them I wired and cut back early, and they are branching; should I do anything specific to help them develop? Also the roots at their base looks like they are ready to run away.

And for all of them, I will probably move to bigger pots next spring, should I mess with root pruning, or just let them go?

My juniper I have done some basic cleanup and pruning does anyone have any advice on the future of this piece? I haven't worked with this species too much but I think this piece has a lot of potential any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Stumbled across some videos online and decided that I would like to add bonsai to my Rolodex of random hobbies.
Found this guy at Home Depot for 6 bucks and decided to take a crack at it. Didn't want to go too far before getting any more opinions. How did I do so far? Where to go from here? (Feel free to roast me if this is the biggest abomination you've seen😂)
