I (F) have a long-running friendship with a male gaming friend that has become emotionally complicated for me. When we are gaming i am always his first priority.
We met through gaming and have never met in person, but over time we developed a very close daily routine. We often play together (almost every day) send each other good morning and good night snaps, update each other throughout the day, and share small moments from our lives. He frequently sends me photos, videos, random updates, and reactions, and I have often found myself wondering whether his behavior reflects friendship, attraction, or something in between.
Some examples that stood out:
He regularly sends good morning and good night snaps.
When conversations appear finished, he often sends an additional emoji or message instead of letting the interaction end.
He frequently reacts with 🤩 to my messages, selfies, or responses.
When I become less responsive, he sometimes sends multiple snaps or seemingly meaningless snaps just to get a response.
He shares many details from his daily life, including home projects, family visits, travel updates, pets, gaming plans, food, and random observations.
Another aspect that has contributed to my confusion is that I have occasionally sent him somewhat provocative or flirtatious snaps that most people would probably not send to an ordinary friend.
These were not explicit photos, but they were often more revealing, playful, or suggestive than typical friendship photos. In some cases I intentionally pushed the boundaries a little to see how he would react.
What makes the situation difficult to interpret is that he generally seems to enjoy receiving them. He often responds with enthusiastic emojis such as 🤩 or comments that suggest he likes what he sees. However, despite reacting positively, he rarely takes things further himself.
He does not usually turn the conversation sexual, ask for more photos, pressure me, or openly cross any boundaries. Instead, he seems to acknowledge the flirtation, enjoy it, and then return to normal conversation.
As a result, I have often felt caught between two interpretations: on one hand, his reactions suggest attraction and interest; on the other hand, his reluctance to escalate anything makes it difficult to understand exactly how he feels or what he wants from the relationship.
Just to clarify, he is 14 years older than me and i am in my mid twenties.
What do you guys think, does he have feelings for me, and if so should i ask him about it?
