Need some guidance. Is the red switch in the correct position here? Which direction is choke open and closed? Where should it be normally? Engine seems to flood often when starting. Thanks for any help! (Currently pointing toward back of motor)

Hey guys. Bought a 2019 Hurricane SS202. Had it in the water for a week and took it out. Had run the bilge pump when it rained, so it was dry in that area. But when I took it out of the water and removed the drain plug, a good amount of water came out. So the compartment for the bilge pump is definitely raised above the actual hull of the boat, seems problematic to me, but maybe this is normal? Been boating all my life, but this is the first boat that's been under my care, so I'm still learning the ropes. Wondering if I should run a secondary pump, that brings water from the hull up to the bilge pump compartment.

Does anybody know what kind of boat this is / some sort of outboard ski / speed boat with a 1 piece windshield

My family are going to the lake next weekend and in preparation we’re tuning up about boat, merrier 4.3L inboard. For reference it had sat for 4 years, it’s like a 30 year old boat. He struggled to get it to start, but he ended up having to knock on the carb and it started, I believe he did a regular tune up, new oil/filter,bilge etc. he got it running for 20 minutes.

We take it on a test run at a nearby lake, went a lap it’s great.. full throttle, good stuff. Then we go to help these ppl their boat that’s stranded. We pull it in and it stalls. Still cranks but won’t idle, took the connecting line and it squirts fuel. We’re not sure what’s up and we’re running out of time. Ive included photos/videos!! Please help!! Anything we can try first?

Looking at an 18’ tri hull that I would like to use for fishing on a lake.

I’ve read they are more stable at rest but a bit rough if the water is choppy?

So I bought this boat last year and have been slowly fixing it up. Which included cutting out the rear floor area getting a new tank welded up and installing it (sucked). Anyways it came with an old force125hp whicj I switched out with this newer 125 merc 2stroke. I also put a 9.9 merc kicker on there. Not sure how heavy it is. Can’t be that bad though as I can pick it up and put it on myself. The problem is I think the scuppers are too low. They are like 6” under water. Now they go uphill so the inside scuppers are technically out of the water but if I stand behind the seat area water will start coming in the scupper whatever side I’m standing on. Water also will come in the splash well scuppers if I am standing back there as well. Now it goes back out as soon as I move forward a bit but this still doesn’t seem right. I shouldn’t have to watch where I stand in my boat so I don’t flood it . Is the newer merc and kicker too much? I did but some of the ping pong ball style scuppers yesterday to install I’ll see if that helps. If it’s too much weight I could remove the kicker I just really wanted it for a backup a for trolling for salmon in the puget sound. I put some pictures sitting next to the dock with no one in it so you can see how low it sits. Any advice would be great.

I am looking at purchasing the boat, which was never used, from a private seller. The boat was acquired by the seller at an auction. Apparently, a vehicle backed into the lower unit while the boat was for sale on the dealer lot. Insurance replaced the boat and the damaged one went to auction. The private seller says the only damage was the lower unit and lower cowling, which was replaced with new OEM parts. There is a different propellor, which is strange, given the fact the lower unit is OEM. Everything else looks brand new and in really good shape. Anyone have any input about what to look out for? Would you suggest to stay away from these types of deals? If lower unit was damaged, could that have affected any of the internals of the engine? Please, share your thoughts, Thank you.

Oh yah, and the asking price is around $40k lower than msrp!

Just picked up this barn-find boat. The outdrive on the prop side is stuck (2nd-to-last photo). That gear seems to be stuck. I tried to turn the gear with a pair of pliers and it wouldn’t move the prop spinds and when I pull on the shift cables it shifts (2nd-to-last photo black tube) it shifts fine and I can’t turn the gear. If anyone can help with fixing it or finding one that would be greatly appreciated.

I use foam insulation boards to skirt my 5th wheel RV. The white side of the boards are not only ugly, but blind you to the point of tears. Would I be able to use marine boat paint on these boards? would the paint be too heavy, and peel off the protective film? Would the paint even stick to the plastic on the boards? ​

Have an issue with my ozark boat lift. The front upper and lower bolts on both sides loosen as the day goes on. I’ve put my big wrench on them and hit with a hammer to tighten but they work loose regardless. What can I do to keep these in position? Being loose, it causes the boat to lean to one side after awhile. There is no lock washer on these, just a flat washer on top and bottom. I thought about using locktite but this area is wet. Appreciate any input.

The Strait of Hormuz is littered with these boats, maybe 50-foot, always sitting at anchor. What are they?

Looking into get a boat soon to duck hunt and fish out of decided between the havoc and reaper boats which would you recommend more i have thought about the edges but was talking to a guy today who said he had to reweld his a lot in the short time he's owned it.

It's a hard plastic channel cover , maybe? It's falling out either way, all the adhesive is gone and I don't want it to fall out in the middle of the lake. Just can't seem to find exactly what it's called to try and replace it. It's the lower piece that you can see sticking out kind of. That part is all warped, so it won't sit down in there properly to re glue it in.

So long story short I bought a 1998 Lowe Roughneck 17. Boat appears to be in great shape (I am going to redo the wiring as it’s a bit of a mess. I discovered the old Evinrude 115 was shot so before I repower it I’m going through everything to make sure it’s worth the investment. Can anyone tell me what this hole in the bottom of the boat ( about halfway between transom and bow) is? I’m thinking it’s an intake for the Live well but not sure). I have spot checked and the foam is dry so trying to avoid pulling out the deck if I can avoid it to replace the live well pump. There is a bilge pump and a LiveWell pump at the transom but I’m guessing that only fills the LiveWell at the back?

I have an old Minnkota endura 30# I bought used off FB a couple years ago. I believe it had a white top which has since been thrown away because it's all modified and adapted to my fishing kayak. It locked up on me today. I took it apart at the launch and it was all full of sand and the brass bushing was very scratched up. I just looked up rebuild kits and can seem to find that bushing. This one is a almost perfectly round ball with a hole in it that the shaft rides on in the back end of the motor. The ones I can find are hat shaped.

Alright looking for some knowledge here, been trying to figure out what the name of the metal slots are on the dash of the boat, each side has one. I’m guessing they are some form of multi use mounting system but no amount of research is providing a name. Any help would be appreciated!

$1500 is the asking price. Hasn’t been ran in a few years but motor still turns over and no transom rot. Desperately needs cleaned and re-wired. So my question is would it be worth getting this thing back on the water?

I broke this plastic piece and have no idea what it’s called or even what it’s for, any help would be greatly appreciated!

I was talking to my friend, Mike Montoya (alameda native), one of the fisherman who was first to help rescue some the passengers on the boat that capsized in the bay. His story is wild and wanted to share. I hope this encourages more people to stop what they r doing and help out if something doesn't look right. Ive known Mike to be a fisherman so I wasn't surprised he happened to be there, I thought it was just a coincidence. But he told me he was far out fishing and noticed the steam and stopped everything and went to help, he was the first boat to make it over and saved 8 lives along with his other fisherman. Anyways here's his story:

We were fishing Fort Mason when I spotted what appeared to be a vessel billowing smoke or steam from it. We pulled up our lines and pointed it out to a charter boat. Thinking they would make it there first because it was windy and the charter boat is much heavier than the boat i was on. I made it from Fort Mason to the vessel in 4 minutes or less.

When we arrived on scene I saw debris everywhere. We saw 6-10 people with no life jackets. With my experience on this particular boat, I was able to navigate the debri field and pull 1 male out of the water whom had no life jacket clinging to a life ring with no rope! He kept saying "Please get my girlfriend" .... we pulled her in 2nd. There was a woman on a kayak with a self inflating pfd saying " I can't swim, I dont want to die"... Got her in the boat and returned to the sinking boat where I witnessed 3 people trapped inside unable to get out, consistently trying to break the glass from the inside out. We then saw a woman who had only her hands in the air with her body bobbing up and down out of the water, she kept saying im sorry for getting all these people together for a memorial ceremony.... I would maneuver the boat in and just would grab them and i would back away from the wreckage. We would pull up to the kite boarder who had 4 additional souls clinging to him. Another 2 males and 2 older woman. 1 of which was the captain!

He also mentioned he has a gofundme because hes been homeless and living in someone's kitchen. If you have some money to spare for our hometown hero! Thank you so much!

This is a photo of my dad — I’m guessing from the 60s — and I’m trying to figure out the make and model. My best guess is that this is a Penn Yan, but not 100% sure and don’t know the model.

Any ideas?

I feel like there’s a simple fix to this but my patience is maxed out tonight. The O ring seems too big. I tried the old O ring and it’s the same size. Clearly I’m the problem here. Does anyone have some tips to getting this O ring in the groove? Or Is there an adhesive I can use without compromising the seal?

The axle broke,l die to rust. I’m going to order a new galvanized trailer, but I’m unsure how to lift it off this trailer.

I think I can put a 4x4 post across the front toons and lift it with floor jacks, but there is not much room for a post to go across the back toons (shown by my hand). Maybe an inch or so of room is all behind that thin lip on the toon?

What about lifting it on that center toon around where the engine is mounted? This boat is pretty heavy, around 3500-4000 lbs I think.
