Any mill operators on here? What your pay looking like in your state? Hours?

The project manager, who I didn’t know was her, heard me talking about other companies’ salaries. She approached me asking if I was new and suggested I go to the office, which was 2 hours away from the jobsite, just to get me fired.

Now I’m without a job.

Looking for trades that allow me to work 60+ hours a week starting out. Which would be the best? I’m in my late 20s.

I got a coworker whose humor is making people feel uncomfortable. He’s so damn good at it on purpose, and it’s really funny but unnerving as fuck.

I have been sweating like crazy this summer, lifting shit, throwing shit, running around and i started bringing with me chips and resorb so i can replenish and not burn out halfway through. but chips are expensive, do you have like a homemade alternative that isnt just table salt that you use?

i’m a pre apprentice and i’m doing concrete work rn. i leave my lunchbox in my car and it’s just barely keeping everything cold. the ice packs are all melted by the time i get back for lunch. any nice lunchbox suggestions?

Im 18, female, newly graduated and im looking to go into a trade. Im 5'4, 122 pounds, I dont work out, and i have a possible iron deficiency. I know trades dont sound ideal for me considering my physical appearance and health but im willing to try and i really dont wanna go to college. I currently work in a nursing home as a waitress so im used to being on my feet for a long-ish period of time. Im definitely not the smartest but im not stupid either, I did OK in school but struggle the most with math and science so electrician work seems a little intimidating to me. I was thinking HVAC just because I know someone that works for a company and would be able to put in a good word for me for an apprenticeship. I also dont really want to do hair or makeup either because i know those are also considered trades. I'm not planning on doing this long term (as in my whole life), this is really just a safety net for me until I figure out what I actually wanna do. My main concerns are money, safety, and being physically able to do something. I'm confident I can learn whatever it is i choose to go into, but I know some things are going to be more difficult to learn than others. So what's an "easy" trade to go into or atleast one suitable for me?

Edit: forgot to mention i took a wood working class in high school and really enjoyed it. Made easy stuff like a cutting board, a foldable stool, and a wooden hockey game, all ofcourse with help from my teacher when I needed it. Learned how to sand, stain, cut wood, etc. Obviously a high school woodworking class is not the same as anything in the trades, but i'm kind of curious about carpentry. That class made me learn that i am a very hands on person and I learn well from it.

Hey yall, I'm a college student living in a large town and although I don't want to pursue a blue collar career, I would be interested in working through college.

Partly, because the skills are helpful for being a homeowner and father

And the pay and work itself is much better than any retail or food job.

I'm just wondering how realistic it is for a company to take a guy with little experience and who can't work more than 25 hours a week

At 16 I was on road doing playground installations, for 8 months. My whole crew was fired then over a accident

Then went to a food plant as a Millwright helper a lot of knowledge from the farm and family shop helped. I learned there, some pipe fitting, running a forklift and a telehandler. about valves, pressure equipment, conveyers, duct And setting machines leveling doing bases. I quit there after getting into a fight with another helper

I got a job in TX at a company that did powder coat oven systems, learned some rigging at that job. I didn’t like Dfw though so I left

I started working with contractors on shutdowns as a millwright. I got OSHA, MSHA cpr and blood pathogen. I worked at Grand industrial, MWI, Brahma Group, with 1091 Bismarck ND at an ethanol plant wanting to Learn new things in different job sites, mines, steel mills, ethanol plant, and manufacturing.

I’m mainly looking for advice on what I should do to move forward and advance. Currently 19 now if that matters, thinking about getting telehandler and forklift cert, also rigging. My money is tight cause I didn’t work last 7 weeks for medical reasons so I’m a little short on money to even get back on the road at the moment don’t have enough for food and fuel till my first check but have a few jobs lined up. Just trying to get rolling again and get advice

So I inquired about the sheet metal union I didn’t actually apply but they got back to me a month after I started my lube tech job and i’m wondering if it’s worth it even if it would be potential layoffs

Im starting my first job in a few days pulling cable for a small local place. Ill be working with my dad as hes the one who got me the job, and hes a foreman. Does anyone have any good tips for a newcomer? Thanks!

Hi, my bf works a bluecollar job from 8-5 monday to saturday. But he sleeps a lot. Most days he sleeps for 12 hours. And if he sleeps 8 hours at night, its because he took a 3 hour nap during the day.

Is this healthy? Should i say anything?

And if its not healthy, what should he do to fix his sleep schedule? And how can i say it so he wont get upset with me?

P/s i have told him before that he sleeps too much and he got a little upset and told me that its because of his work
