I think it is.
The funny thing about losing your mental peace is that you don’t even realise it’s happening. It doesn’t happen in one day. It happens slowly.
You start believing that maybe the problem is you. Maybe you’re not good enough. Maybe you’re too emotional, too quiet, too sensitive.
But sometimes… the problem isn’t you.
Sometimes it’s the people around you. The way they treat you. The way they make you feel so small that you slowly stop believing in yourself.
I have been bullied since I was a child.
Today, I’m 36, and sometimes I still get flashes of memories from when I was 8 years old, or 12 or 13. I remember how badly I was treated. I remember failing in the 7th grade and how people looked at me, as if I was a failure in life.
Those moments never really leave you.
I’ve always had stage fear. Imagine not being able to speak even in front of three people. Giving a presentation felt like the hardest thing in the world.
Even today, in my late 30s, I still struggle. Public speaking gives me so much anxiety that I feel like I’ll just freeze.
I’ve worked in different companies, hoping things would get better. But somehow, every place had something that made me feel like I didn’t belong.
Yes, I’m an introvert.
I take time to open up. I don’t make friends in a day. But somehow people think being quiet means you’re weak.
In one company, I had an anxiety attack after being humiliated in front of others.
Every morning, I hated waking up and going to work. I hated seeing faces that never made me feel welcome.
Slowly, I started drinking more. I gained almost 10 to 15 kilos.
To make things worse, salaries would come around the 25th of the month. Imagine working so hard and then almost begging for your own salary. And when you asked for it, they made you feel guilty.
No one should ever have to work like that.
There is another part of my life that hurts the most.
I love kids.
But because of a medical condition, I may never have one. Even if I do, there are risks that could affect the child.
Some days I feel lost.
Some days I ask myself, “Why bring a child into this world if they might have to suffer?”
It’s a thought that breaks my heart every single time.
But life also taught me something.
I lost those 10 kilos. Not because someone told me to, but because one day I decided I wanted my life back.
That was one thing I could control.
Today, I honestly don’t feel like working for someone else anymore.
I want to build something of my own.
If I ever become a boss, I don’t want to be the kind who thinks they know everything. I want to be someone who listens. Someone who mentors people instead of humiliating them. Someone who makes people feel valued instead of putting them down in front of others.
Maybe that’s what all these years have taught me.
Mental peace is not a luxury.
It’s everything.
And if protecting your peace means walking away from people, jobs, or situations that constantly make you question your worth… then maybe that’s exactly what you should do.

Being stuck with today’s priorities also prevents you from embracing future opportunities. When you’re too occupied meeting deadlines, you don’t notice the opportunities that might advance your career. Lack of time also prevents you from identifying where your skills might be valuable and how you can contribute beyond assigned tasks to do more impactful work.

Hi all — I'm Cristal. A few months ago I got diagnosed with MS, and somewhere between the doctor's appointments, the infusions, and the days my body just decided to "fight the man," I started writing it all down. Which is also crazy as I'm also Dyslexic! 

Anyway the blog is called Multiple Shenanigans (MS, like it?) — it's not full on medical advice, it's not a polished wellness brand, it's just an unfiltered (and occasionally very funny... at least i like to think so.) record of what this new normal actually looks like. Symptoms nobody warned me about, steroid side effects, DMT trial-and-error, and the moments the absurdity of it all makes me laugh instead of cry.

I've also been sharing how I'm navigating the US health system — getting second opinions, medical lingo, and if I face it how i managed my insurance with this crap — plus how I put together my health binder, since "how are you feeling" turns out to be a much harder question than it sounds once you're dealing with this. ( If you get it you get it)

If you're newly diagnosed with MS like me — welcome, I'm sorry, and you're not alone. If you've been living with this for years or with other chronic illness  — I'd love your wisdom. And if you have zero connection to MS, turns out a malfunctioning nervous system still makes for decent content.

I've been consistently writing pieces set in the textile and garment manufacturing industry on my personal blog. You can think of them as short stories, work diaries, or technical realism.

These words were spoken by Kjell Nilsson, a Swedish bodybuilder, Olympic-class weightlifter, and actor best known for playing the iconic main antagonist Lord Humungus in the 1981 post-apocalyptic action film Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior. Nilsson passed away on July 2, 2026, at the age of 76 in Queensland, Australia, following a long battle with end-stage kidney disease.
