For 2027 and future aspirants.

I have taken part in a competition BIOTECHNOVA and I belong to pcm background(class 12th) and I don't know what type of questions they will ask.My partner is also from pcm background but we both have knowledge about basic biology and also know 9th and 10th biology knowledge as well.

Could anyone help me figure out which topics I should focus on and study? The competition is on 19th August.

As a hiring manager at a Biotech I never found a solution that allowed me to quickly search a large pool of candidates (like a Fiverr or UpWork) and send out feelers within moments. I always had to collect hundreds of CVs, referrals, or pay a expensive agency.

On the flip side, I always wanted to break into consulting, but the only path forward was word of mouth or going through a hiring agency with false promises and recruiters who couldn't explanation what a Phase 1 trial was let alone understand my job.

I'm an early-career biotech graduate with NGS experience at a major core facility. I'm on OPT, STEM OPT-eligible, and have close to three years of work authorization remaining..so technically I don't technically need sponsorship anytime soon. I've been diligently applying and networking, but I keep hitting a wall that feels completely outside my control: sponsorship.

Some companies explicitly list "no sponsorship" on the JD- filtered out before anyone sees my resume. But even when I do get traction from a near-perfect match, I get screened out the moment the topic comes up. Most recently, I had a screening at a large pharma company for a role my resume directly matched but didn't move forward past the first question about work authorization. The recruiter was kind enough to explain that it wasn't my current status, it was future sponsorship.. the company doesn't sponsor at the title level I'm targeting even if its a possiblity that 2 years down the line I am at a different level.But she encouraged to keep applying regardless when asked about future applications. A very similar role w exact JD has opened up now. I've been genuinely strategic about this: tailoring every application, networking actively, doing everything right on my end. But this keeps feeling like a dead end I can't think my way out of.

My working theory: companies avoid sponsoring at entry levels because of H-1B wage floor requirements, making those roles economically unattractive to sponsor even when the candidate is strong. Is that actually what's happening on the hiring side? Also curious ..are companies becoming more broadly cautious around OPT/STEM OPT candidates right now given immigration policy uncertainty, even when the candidate has years of authorization remaining?

Would love to hear from anyone who's navigated this, especially from the recruiter or hiring manager side. Genuinely running out of angles here.

Hello everyone, I'm currently a 2nd year Msc biotechnology student from India. As the title suggests, I need a website to download closed access papers. After scihub was banned, I got my papers through other sites, none of which seem to work anymore. Which led me to practically begging my friend who studies in the US to download them for me.

Does anyone know a site where I could download these papers? Please help a fellow aspiring biotechnologist out

One thing I've realized is that I genuinely enjoyed Biotechnology in Class 12. I'm interested in genetics, molecular biology, and the biotech field overall.

Between ERP systems, LIMS, QMS, environmental monitoring systems, audit trails, electronic signatures, and AI, it feels like most compliance work should be automated by now.

Why do pharma companies still employ large QA departments instead of just having a few people oversee the software?

What am I missing? Are we expecting major layoffs soon?

I'm currently in the final year of my B.Tech in Biotechnology and I'm having trouble prioritizing my goals.

Right now, I'm involved in a research program where we're working on a review article that will hopefully get published. At the same time, I approached another professor for an AI/ML project, but he suggested that I first complete a summer course and contact him again once the semester starts.

I'm also preparing for GATE BT and have enrolled in a coaching/course for that. My college reopens in about a month, and I'm worried about how I'll manage everything once classes begin.

My long-term interest is bioinformatics, but after looking into M.Tech programs, it seems there are only a few IITs that offer bioinformatics programs that really interest me. I'm also only beginning to learn Python and the basics of AI/ML.

Given all this, how would you prioritize these activities? Should GATE be my main focus, or should I invest more time in research publications and AI/ML skills? Has anyone been in a similar situation and managed all three successfully?

Hello. I'm an Army Veteran and full time student. I am also the recipient of heart surgery, and have a genetic heart condition.

Most of my career as a soldier was involved with fixing hydraulic systems. When I studed the different types of artificial hearts currently on the market. I realized they all share the same massive flaws. They were obviously designed by people who worked as surgeons, but never as engineers. Or rather they didnt have a good engineering team, or even worse they overruled engineering decisions in favor of more dogmatic, surgeon-friendly designs.

I have several design improvements for currently existing artificial hearts which I believe could make them safely wearable outside of a hospital setting, and even eventually on a daily basis with minimal supervision.

My concern is that if I submit my improvements to one of the existing companies they will

​

1. Steal the idea or

2. (Even worse) ignore me.

​

The company who makes the most premier artificial heart in the world (Syncardia) is currently experiencing legal issues and will likely not invest into new R&D, but I believe their product is currently the best out there.

​

If anyone has any advice or contacts who can help me with the process of protecting and fielding my IP, I'd appreciate it.
