Advice Please note you might be eligble to vote in the upcoming election even if you're not a German citizen
Not having German citizenship does not automatically exclude you from voting in Berlin's upcoming elections on 20 September. EU citizens can take part in local elections, and even refugees have opportunities to make their voices – indirectly – heard.
Not sure whether you can vote, which government bodies are being elected, what they do, or how the process works?

News BVG is testing "Pink*Zone": More visibility for more safety.
New floor stickers infront of BVG's iconic information & emergency call pillars intent to make them easier to locate and, as a result, increase the feeling of safety at the station platforms.
What does Pink*Zone stand for?
P = Punkt für (spot for)
I = Information
N = Notruf (emergency call)
K = Kontakt (contact)
\* = für alle (for everyone)
The project begun yesterday, on July 21st 2026 and currently runs at a testing phase, which is planned to last 3 months. For this, five designs have been placed at five chosen stations. The chosen stations and their floor sticker designs can be viewed on the 2nd image of this post.
BVG is also asking for feedback. Here is a link to their survey: https://kundenmeinung.bvg.de/zone
Below are two sites/articles from BVG going in-depth of this feature.

Casual A bit of kindness for food delivery people.
Saw a guy have a verbally attacking at a wolt Delivey guy for no reason other than the fact he felt he could. Wolt guy had his bike on the side of street - lots of room to walk past and was trying to fix his bike chain. Older guy started demanding he move, banging his bike. I was passing at the same time - got involved and told him to mind his own business. Guy moved on, swearing and moaning at me as he did so. Usual. Delivey guy was super kind. We chatted a bit and he said he faces issues daily. People treating him and his colleagues like glorified punching bags for their pent up anger. Recently teens finding it funny to try and push him off. Some kind of social media prank apparently. He also said people he delivers to treat him badly quite often. Lots engineer fake complaints to avoid paying. Damaging food etc. He said when was it was 40C a few weeks back a client on the top floor refused to fill his water bottle. Others were angry he was running late - even though it was the fault of the restaurants.
Lastly, he said locals rarely tip. wtf?
Just made me sad.
History Bus 218.

News Power outage Neukölln
Power just went out in my building in the Neukölln Rixdorf area, apparently the platform power at nearby Sbahn Sonnenallee is out as well. Can’t find any news or updates about it.
Anyone know what’s going on?
(Posted with hope of speedy resolution, since my phone battery is at 8%😅)

Discussion Rollatoren
Does anyone else think there's an extremely high proportion of people using Rollatoren in Berlin? I feel like the quotient is very high compared to the other countries I have lived in, and the average age of the user is also quite low in comparison to what I'm used to seeing. If I had to guess, I would say it's down to smoking and drinking, but maybe there are long waits for hip replacement here? If anyone knows more about the topic than I do, I would love your input.
