Brooklinen

Upvotes

Idk what to do at this point. I purchased Tencel Brooklinen sheets, along with a percale duvet cover. Idk why I didn’t think to go on Reddit prior to ordering, now that it’s already at my house and reading the god awful things about it on Reddit I’m bummed out. Is there anyone that likes them at all on here? I honestly can’t afford expensive ones, and the only reason I got these is because they were offered on the shop app so I could make payments.

Does anyone still care about fabric quality?

Lately I've realized how much fabric quality affects everyday comfort. It started when I was shopping for cotton sheets, and now I'm even searching for a simple cotton handkerchief.

It seems like a lot of products focus on thread count or marketing buzzwords instead of the actual feel and durability of the fabric. For people who really pay attention to textiles, what brands or stores do you trust for genuinely high-quality cotton products? I'm looking for places where I can actually see and feel the fabric instead of ordering online and hoping for the best.

Weirdest problem I've ever had.

Hi, sorry if this isn't the right place to go, I am completely clueless on Reddit and never post here, lol.

My duvet (cover AND insert together) has twisted itself from the corners in into some unholy tangle that is quite literally impossible to get out. And no, it wasn't in the dryer, and it wasn't because it wasn't secured on the corners. Actually, it's probably in part BECAUSE it was secured on the corners. My roommate originally tied the inside corners for me, and it's possible when they did the blanket was twisted, but they don't remember and I didn't see of course.

Over the course of the past few months (please don't judge me for not washing that frequently, I am disabled lol) it went from a tight twist on one or two corners to two hard knots that have eaten half the blanket and are twisted inside to the core. I can only describe it as it slowly imploding, or eating itself, or possibly being sucked into a 4th dimension beyond human understanding. The current shape of the blanket is quite frankly incomprehensible, as the original corners are completely gone inside the knot, and it is impossible to lay it out flat.

I thought I could unzip the cover it and tackle the tangle from the inside, but to my dismay found that both sides of the zipper seam are wrapped around and trapped in the SAME KNOT. So I can't even get it open to begin with. I sat there for an hour using a carpenter's nail to shove into the hole and use as a tension lever to unwrap it, but I'm not sure if I made any real progress, and the moment I took a break (with the nail still stuck in there), the NAIL got swallowed up into the knot too. I can feel it in there at least two inches deep.

Unfortunately I'm not a bedding nerd so I don't remember the brand or know all the "specs" of my duvet, but for what it's worth: The cover is a bamboo rayon, relatively cheap (but still significantly pricey to me) from Target, the insert is cotton from the same brand, both are full/queen. It has strings in the internal corners and halfway along the long sides to keep it from shifting during sleep, and while those were done up tight, it shifted internally a lot, even and especially before the twisting became a huge problem. Again, I believe the ties may have been done while the insert was a little twisted, and that's what's causing this problem. I guess the insert is desperately trying to reform back to its flat state with the ferocity of elastic?? Somehow???

I attached photos and described as best I can, but I don't know if anyone will understand anyway 😭 The appearances of the knots can only be described as "butthole-like" but you can feel they have a hard shaft that goes down into the center, and if I carelessly toss my blanket over myself sometimes it feels like getting hit with a softball. I genuinely don't know what to do about this. I'm mostly just baffled and curious if anyone has had anything like this happen before and/or has any insight on how this could happen?? I'm close to just cutting it open tbh.

Linen linens?

I am looking for linen bed linens but as the title suggests, googling this is a bit difficult.

Quince obviously exists but I have heard a lot of negative things about their quality.

I love this bedding but it's so expensive, I'm wondering if theres a cheaper alternative - I know that there's a lot of ruched bedding online but I really like how this bedding isn't too ruched (like this bedding has four cinches while most ruched bedding has like 10-15 cinches)

Best pillow for neck pain that actually lasts? (Side/Back sleeper)

I keep waking up with a stiff neck and tightness at the base of my skull. I’ve tried standard memory foam, but they either flatten out after a week or are so tall they bend my neck all night.

I sleep mostly on my side, occasionally on my back. I need something supportive that won't push my head forward when I roll over, and it needs to sleep cool.

Also, are those cervical/contour pillows actually legit or just a gimmick?

If you've dealt with neck pain and found a pillow you’d buy again, what was it and why?

100% Cotton Thin Mattress Protector?

Hey all. I’m looking for a mattress protector that’s 100% cotton - just a thin layer without any plastics as liquids aren’t an issue. I’m not seeing the point of a natural latex mattress with cotton and linen bedding if you’re going to sandwich them with plastic? Guest room in progress. Thanks!

Can anyone help me identify this pillow?

This is the best pillow I’ve ever had, and it has very clearly been used for 5+ years. I’m thinking I bought it at a department store but I’m not sure. I’m desperate!

Comforter that’s both weighty, cool/cooling, and very soft

It seems like a lot of the cooling comforters are very lightweight. I like the feeling of a heavy comforter on me but I don’t want to boil. Can I find both in one comforter? And if so, what comforters do you recommend?

Best cotton percale sheets with a natural "washed" texture - NOT super smooth?

A lot of 100% cotton percale sheets are very smooth to the touch, but I love when sheets have a more "natural", slightly textured feel.

My favorite sheet set in this regard was made of 200 thread count garment-washed organic cotton from Portugal, but it's no longer sold.

I just ordered some of West Elm's washed organic percale (same thread count) but it's disappointingly smooth. Just feels like regular percale to me.

Any suggestions? Price is no issue. It does have to be cotton percale; I like crunchiness.

Best mattress topper for back pain that won't make me overheat?

I’m wondering if a topper could help with my sore back without making me sleep hotter. I mostly sleep on my back so I’m looking for something that adds support and more cushioning without me soaking up in sweat when I wake up. Any idea what materials or type should I prioritize in a mattress topper?

An absolute decorating noob - I need ideas for bedding, price is not really a hinderance. I just want something quality.

I am overwhelmed, I just want someone to point to something and say "This is good" and I will do it blindly, I want a nice looking place.

I am thinking more zen + subtle fire.

Help me please - this gives me so much anxiety!

I am in **Canada**, so anything being shipped here or in Canada is ideal

Crisp

I can find a down alternative blanket that makes noise when you move it and is crispy like.
I bought several just at Walmart because they were my favorite. Now everything is microfiber or brushed cotton!!

I have jersey sheets that I really because I don’t wake up hot. They don’t sell them anymore so I’m trying to find a replacement for them. These are 100% cotton but I’m not sure if I’ll wake up hot with them. Or does anyone have any recommendation for jersey sheets for hot sleepers?

Bed sheets! Help!

Okay so 2021 I bought some sheets for college from Bed Bath & Beyond. They are the pure beech jersey modal sheets. At the time they were like $20, now they are going for $80-$90 for a queen. Does anyone have any really good jersey sheet recs? They are my favorite, but I don’t want to spend that much since my college ones had tons of holes in them after a while. 🙏

NEED DEEP POCKET SHEETS

My mattress is 18" thick and I am tired of my cotton sheets always coming off while I sleep. I am looking for deep-pocket sheets for my queen bed, specifically bamboo if available, that don't wrinkle every time I sleep in them. Please let me know if you guys have any suggestions. Thanks!

Is this vintage Ralph Lauren estate sheet fake?

Because of the great bedding enshitification and after trying a few different brands of sheets, I decided to purchase a vintage Ralph Lauren estate sheet that was new old stock. It was supposedly made in Italy and sewn in the USA in the 90s so I expected good quality. I purchased it off eBay and it arrived today. The fabric does not feel like cotton at all and the sheet is so thin you can see through it. It just feels so strange and plastic like. I am familiar with the sateen weave and I understand it is supposed to feel silky but it just doesn’t feel like cotton to me. I have another RL sheet that was made in the USA but it is the lower end Lauren Ralph Lauren line. That sheet actually feels more substantial and better quality than this one that was supposed to be super high end quality. So what do you all think? Are there any other vintage sheet collectors out there that can confirm or deny the legitimacy of this sheet? Thanks for your time.

Bedding envy terrible quality alternatives please!?

Okay back story here, I recently ordered the 300TC percale Bedding Envy set for around £100 with discounts. I was excited to receive it but unfortunately so disappointed and would NOT recommend to anyone. I will be sending it back! The smell when it arrived can only be compared to when you open the bag from cheap Shein clothes and there was a pink thread running all the way through the “brilliant white” duvet cover! See pictures attached!

So anyway I am in search of an alternative! I chose percale as I like a crisp feel, but would like to stay around £100 mark for the full king set!

Thanks in advance!

I am beyond desperate to find this bedding from my childhood. It was from the late 90s/early 2000s. According to a now unavailable whatnot listing (where I got these photos) it is apparently Bibbs brand? Please if anyone can find another listing or have this hiding in your closet and would be willing to sell it, I would be eternally grateful🙏♥️

Need cover for a 100 x 100 Downlite feather blanket

Where do I find the right size for this Downlite blanket? It seems neither a queen or king size duvet cover are the right measurements. I want to enjoy it this fall when it’s cooler weather. TIA

Best Pillows? (All season)

I’m looking for a set of great standard pillows! Mainly looking at down and wool pillows. I prefer something breathable for summer right now but will also be great for winter! Love the feeling of down pillows but worried if it gets a little warm. Although I have a cool wool duvet and percale sheets!

Taking any brand suggestions and advice on material for my needs!

SIJO Bedding - Beware, cheap fabric & bad customer service.

I'm just warning others to beware of the bedding from SIJO. I got suckered into purchasing. On the surface, they seemed to have a good return policy. I purchased their airy weight tencel sheet set for $140 (queen size sale price). They came today and the sheets feel like low quality polyester. Not what I expected given the price. I'm going to stick with Cariloha.

When I went to return, I notice that I have to pay to ship them back (I'm in the US). Also, they do not accept returns if the product is used (it has to have all the packaging, unused condition). I did not use them but that part is really dishonest. How would a customer truly test the bedding if they can't use them. In my case, just touching the fabric told me that its not good. Just a warning to others, beware. Maybe the thing to do is buy them from Amazon (not sure but I'm thinking that Amazon would probably return used sheets?) I purchased direct from SIJO website thinking it would easier if I had to return. Wrong!
