CT scans of JLab mini earbuds with serious battery defects

Our CT scans of the JLab JBuds mini earbuds revealed some serious flaws: poorly aligned electrodes, inconsistent anode overhang, and some that look torn or damaged. In lithium batteries, these are the kinds of defects that can shorten lifespan and potentially cause a thermal runaway.

Looking for a coulomb meter with alarm output (or hack existing TR16)

Hi everyone,

I'm currently using a TR16-style coulomb meter with a 150A 75mV shunt.

It works fine, but I’d like to add a low battery alarm (buzzer).

I see two possible approaches:

  1. Build my own coulomb counter (INA219/INA226 + microcontroller)
  2. Replace the current meter with one that has an alarm output (relay / buzzer)

I’d prefer option 2 to avoid reinventing the wheel.

Does anyone know:

  • a battery monitor (24–48V) with relay/alarm output based on SOC (not just voltage)?
  • or a coulomb meter with accessible data output (UART/I2C/etc)?
  • or if there's any way to tap into TR16 signals (RS+ / RS-) without rebuilding everything?

Use case :

  • Lead-acid batteries
  • 24V or 48V system
  • Peak current ~50A (depending on use)
  • Need a reliable SOC %, voltage-only solutions are too inaccurate for my use

I know about Victron products, but they're too expansive for my budget. That's why I used a TR-16 before -- much cheaper.

Thanks!

PS : It's my first time posting on Reddit, so please be kind with me :)

Hello! So im a student who got handed down an alienware 15 r4 and i don't have much ideas about tech either. I recently js found out that my laptop's battery capacity is on 15000 mwh over its original 67000 mwh so basically the battery is dead. I've tried to look for replacements on shopee and lazada (im a student on a budget:]]) and found none except from sketchy stores. Wala rin idea fam ko sa ganito so it would help greatly if u can recommend stores po to buy the battery. Would also greatly appreciate if u could share tips on how to replace the battery alone, what equipments needed and such, how much to get it done professionally if ever etc. Thank u so much po!!

Questions about Eaton 5PX2200IRT2UG2 UPS

Hello everyone!

So I need to get new UPS for my workplace. I work for a government institution where all purchases are made by other department.

So I wrote a requisition for UPS that should have (among other things) galvanic isolation and power filter (either passive LC or active). They responded that they have Eaton 5PX2200IRT2UG2 (or they can buy something else which would take time) but I can't find any information does it have isolation and said filter.

From my past expierence I know that people from purchase dept. can know even less about UPS than I do (and I know almost nothing) so I can't really trust them.

So, maybe you guys know does this UPS have those things?

I already wrote to a producer but time is cruccial because my supervisor is pressuring me.

bloated gaming laptop battery, is it okay to wait until morning?

hello, ive noticed my msi laptop (model gf63 thin) has been dying really frequently when its not on the charger and i noticed bit of a “bump”, i opened it up and i realized that the battery is super bloated and i dont have a safe place to put it in. it looks a little ripped and its lifting itself from the plastic thing, most repair shops here are closed until 8am and im terrified of it exploding and i dont know what to do. is it okay for me to wait until morning??

Any benefit to 16V PPS charging profile if charger has 21V PPS?

Post image

I'm trying to find something my Samsung charger can technically do at least _slightly_ better than my third party Anker charger (when charging my Samsung Galaxy 26U).

So far, the Anker (83g) seems to be whipping the Samsung's (103g) ass in every respect. 🤔 Retractable pins, smaller size, lower weight. Cheaper!

Both support SFC 3.0 but I was thinking maybe if I looked _really_ close, I'd be able to find a slight theoretical benefit to using a Samsung charger with my Samsung device. But nope.

So far, all I can see is an extra charging profile that the Anker 715 (Nano II 65W) doesn't have. Also the Samsung is PD 3.1 versus the Anker's PD 3.0.

Does the Anker just totally spec mog the Samsung charger and make its existence redundant? 💪🏻☺️

Not charging in emergency backup mode?

I switched my FranklinWH from its usual TOU Mode to emergency backup mode. Why aren't my batteries charging?

Is it because my utility has a power export thing going? The main page of the app says I'm in VPP mode. If yes, is there a way to force charging when in VPP mode?
