Was shopping and coincidentally stumbled into the Governor of Bangkok in Central Embassy. He’s a great guy for Bangkok and his recent term shows! No more flooding (in front of my house at least) and improved sidewalks.
(Also IGNORE my pose)

discussion Acne Dermatologist Recommendation

Upvotes

My Gf has quite a lot of acne, we not sure if the cause is her makeup or her birth control implant.
We visited Bangkok hospital HQ, overall it was fine but it felt more like money grab than honest treatment.

Anyone can recommend a good clinic or hospital for acne? outside of Bangkok it's fine also (Pathum Thani/Nonthaburi/ etc.)

thank you very much

Hi guys I m organizing a kind of Festival with DJs and Mcs, on Saturday 25 July. It's on a boat and on the dock next to it with nice view on Bang krachao and Sukhumvit by the river. We do this event like every 3 month and last one (in the video was around 400 people). We got a big market as well and it's a lot of fun. If you are free check the Event 420 Paradise. Thanks everyone

media Giant fruit bats outside my room

So I'm sitting in my room here in Bangkok with my laptop on the bed and I keep seeing these shadows moving around outside through my window. I watch for a while realizing they're bats. I Google do fruit bats/flying foxes live within BKK city and sure enough they do. After a few attempts I managed to get one decent capture of them flying around and perching on the tree where they live.

shopping Worth cheap or expensive suit ?

Hi everyone,
I’m currently in Bangkok and planning to have a custom suit made. I’ve already read a few articles (like the one about cheap suits in Bangkok), but I’d really like to hear real experiences from people who have actually bought one.
I’m trying to decide between:
a cheap custom suit (around 3,000–8,000 THB), or
spending more (12,000–15,000 THB) for a higher-quality tailor.
My questions are:
Is the quality difference really worth the extra money?
Do the cheaper suits hold up well after a few years, or do they start looking worn quickly?
Which tailors would you personally recommend, and why?
Are there any places I should avoid?
Which areas are best for tailoring—Sukhumvit, Silom, MBK, or somewhere else?

For context: I’m looking for a versatile suit that I can wear to weddings, formal events, and balls for many years, so durability and fit are more important than getting the absolute cheapest option.

I’d really appreciate recommendations based on your own experience. Thanks!

My girlfriend has work, I have the day free. Museum Siam is an interactive guide to Thai culture. Sounds innovative and cool. Message or DM if you fancy it maybe a group can go.

discussion Where can I find a pillow that actually stays cool ?

I live here and I’m looking for a pillow that actually keeps your head cool during the night.

I’m really struggling with the heat lately, and it’s getting harder and harder for me to sleep. I’ve seen a lot of “cooling pillows” online, but I’m not sure which ones genuinely work in Bangkok’s climate.

Has anyone found a pillow that noticeably stays cool? I’d appreciate specific brands, models, or shops in Bangkok where I could try or buy one.

Thanks!

question Engagement rings

Hello everyone,
my girlfriend and I are in Bangkok and looking for 18K gold simple engagement rings without diamonds. Our hotel is in Phaya thai area but of course we can travel through the city. Right now we plan on going to the jewelery level in MBK or Siam Square, but there we hope it's not too expensive. Jewelry trade center looks like it has its focus on gem stones.

Do you have any good recommendations?
Thanks in advance!

question Anyone knows a good whisky bar?

I'm trying to find a bar/speakeasy with a proper selection of good whiskys for a tasting.

I've asked locals and they've tried to help me but alas.

Anyone has a recommendation?

question Early life crisis, advice

I’m 18 and unemployed. I have no highschool diploma. I had to drop out due to health issues, and i’m feeling lost.

I’m appalled by the fact that so many opportunities and places require a piece of paper or a pdf file to be eligible.

If a piece of paper has that much power over who does or doesn’t get a quality education or job, then we’re headed for total fucking disaster.

Recommendations, suggestions and advice will be appreciated. Thank you :)

travel Solo traveller looking for advice

Upvotes

As the title says, I'm looking to travel to Bangkok for The Weeknd concert. I'll stay in a 4/5 star hotel really close to the stadium, other than Grab for taxi and ordering food, what advice can you share to not get scammed/robbed etc.?

How is it for a solo male tourist safety wise and health wise?

discussion Building a data aggregator for the Bangkok property market. What data would you actually want to see?

for the past few months ive been building a side project that pulls together bangkok real estate data in one place. new project prices, completion dates, the official price indexes from the bank of thailand, that kind of thing.

before i keep building whatever i personally find interesting, id rather ask people who actually live here. if you rent, bought, or just watch the market: what property info do you always wish you could look up but can never find?

stuff ive heard from people so far: rent trends per neighborhood, developer track records on late handovers, resale prices next to new launch prices, actual sold prices instead of asking prices. some of that is genuinely hard in thailand (no public sales registry) but i want to know what matters most before deciding what to build next.

not linking anything, this is just to gather opinions. ill share findings back in the comments if people are interested
