After several failing scores and almost always scoring in the 70's (gross!) throughout their 6 years of operation, how and why would anyone want to pay a premium to eat at such a dirty, poorly run (expired operating permit 4/2026!) , and just plain mediocre restaurant? The constant GM and staff turnovers should speak volumes to operations from the top down. Flies in the prep, tuna held out of acceptable temp., etc....but so lax & sloppy they had an expired operating permit? Unsettling reality of the behind the scenes, basic business operations and not an establishment I could recommend or ever frequent again. Chinese buffets and T Cloud sandwich shops run tighter ships than this mess.

Sooooooooo I was in love with Little Ola's and Olamaie's biscuits. I have tried several recipes - the Bon Appetit and New York Times biscuit recipes come close - but I was wondering if anyone, anyone at all, can recommend a recipe or technique that can get super duper close to theirs? I did a quick search of the sub but no love, maybe I missed something. Thanks so much in advance!

I know I know… sushi is to be enjoyed fresh in the restaurant (or grocery store) but I would like some recommendations for carry out. A friend has to work and never get out at a reasonable time before the restaurants close so I want to get them some for their birthday.

Who are your favorite food trucks in the Austin area that consistently put out great food and can handle large crowds?

I work with a BUSY seasonal event that takes place this fall, and we're exploring a potential partnership with one food truck for the season. Before reaching out, I'd love to hear who people think is doing it right. (I do not live in TX!)

Last health inspection cited they didn't actually have a food permit! 82 is pretty low health score and not a place to get excited about eating at, especially at $8 a tiny slice prices! Per the attached health dept. Inspection, Dirty kitchens are gross! Operating without being licensed or permitted ....gee what else could we be overlooking?

So recently Pinthouse killed my favorite pizza of the last few years, the Shrooming Goat. There new Mushroon man is just not the same, so I tried something new. The Jerk Chicken pizza, omg the habanero and the other flavors come together in a very hot and complex flavored pizza. I thought it was phenomenal……

Just wanted to recommend it for a “wild” and hot pizza.

After moving away, I miss the Texican Cafe Cozumel sauce SO SO much. Anyone have any tips on what is in it? Its described as a buttery tomatillo sauce but it's red. Wondering if it has tomato? A type of red chile?

Been trying a number of North Austin Chinese places that have been great. But they all have either no alcohol or a poor selection. Is there any good spicy places that have a good drink line up?

We’ve loved their pastas and Italian cooking for years now, but stopped in tonight for their Southeast Asian Summer menu and really enjoyed it. Lots of takes on familiar dishes - some pretty spicy. We had the meatballs, green beans and the Larb Tagliatelle and Blue Crab Noodles(pictured)

Everything was excellent and I highly recommend going before 6pm, as the noodle dishes were 25% off.

I am specifically looking for black cod or sablefish. I know I asked a while ago and was told Whole Foods and/or Central Market.

I am hoping that maybe some new fish markets that carry sable (specifically) have opened?

Ordered sushi takeout from Maiko Sushi Lounge—Sushi for 2 (chef’s choice) and sashimi à la cart: salmon, bluefin tuna, hamachi, escolar, hotate gai, and kani, plus a seaweed salad and order of edamame. I wish the chef’s choice selection came with an identification card because I’m not familiar enough with sushi to know which was which (besides the obvious salmon vs tuna) but I did enjoy everything.

Before you say, make coffee at home, yes I can. But I still want to know where I can find a good cappuccino that is not $4.75+

I like a good cappuccino but every coffee shop such as Flat Track, Medici, Palomino, the Brew and Brew.. all sell coffees for close to $5. Barrett’s used to be a good cheaper option. Not sure if they increased their prices.

Any recommendations for good coffee for <$4.75?

Where I used to live had a lot of options for plate lunches at local groceries and gas stations. One particular spot had a phenomenal salisbury steak entree that I find myself craving. I don't want to have to get a table, just stand in a line cafeteria-style and take my food to go.

Is there anywhere south of Town Lake with something like that?
