Website/HH hours/Update/Thank You/Am I missing any?
I started achappyhours.com two years ago for many reasons: I was continually sending friends who visited AC my favorite HH menus, I was tasked with teaching a group of educators how best to use Canva (figured I’d learn too by creating a website there), I’m frugal and love happy hours, and most importantly I believe in Atlantic City.
The website is now the first site that comes up on Google when you search “atlantic city happy hours”. I have not paid for that, thanks to the users for making it viable and seen.
I have added a few new HH’s to our featured section this past month on the site: The Iron Room (welcome back), Amada (they went from a once a week HH to 4 days) and Chez Frites (at the Ocean). I also added many new HH around town to the “additional happy hours” section of the site.
I also labeled a few HH “Tier 1”. These are high quality HH deals compared to other places in town. These are places that go way beyond “$1 off drinks”, are offering true discounts on regular menu items (not HH specific shrunken down items), and you could make a meal (not just chips and dips).
Disclaimer (because some have asked): I make no money from this. I do not solicit restaurants/bars before I try their HH.
I have tried:
Cardinal (Tier 1)
Knife and Fork (Tier 1)
Dock’s Oyster House (Tier 1)
Angeloni’s Club Madrid (Tier 1)
Il Verdi (Tier 1)
Dougherty’s (Tier 1)
Vic & Anthony’s (Tier 1)
Chart House (Tier 1)
The Iron Room (Tier 1)
Kuro
Council Oak
Nobu
Park Place Prime
Cielo Wine Bar
Cuba Libre
Chez Frites

Chelsea Five
The Palm
Carmine’s

Yet to try:
Tony’s Baltimore Grill (been many times, but yet to get to their happy hour)
Girasole (heading there this week, have loved dinner there, never HH)
Ryfe (yet to try the AC location)
Tennessee Ave. Beer Hall
Vagabond
Back Bay Ale House
Wonder Bar
The Vue (trying this week)
Superfrico
Ducktown tavern
Carousel Bar
Mukashi
La Strada at the Shore

Went to Harrahs Pool on a Wednesday. Rented the day bed. Bed was pretty uncomfortable. Pool opens at 10 but waitresses didn’t start coming around till 1130. Music didn’t start till 11. Warm in there once sun came out. Pool was cool in temp. Pool smelled like feet or old shoes. Hot tub was small but warm. Whole pool is pretty warn out. Kinda dirty. Stone in pool is broken and gross. Steps on some of the stairs are slippery and slanted down. Outside the pool was nice. Pool seems more like a motel 6 pool. Lifeguard was asleep so hopefully no one goes down. Only good they offered was chicken tenders. Good service from waitress once she started.
I’d go again on a rainy day but it was worn out and not the best.

I bought tickets to see this next week. Our tickets are marked “general admission”.
Has anyone seen it here with general admission seats? How early should I arrive for decent seats?
Thanks!

I plan on getting an all day pass. Do they come to ocean hotel? Do I wave at them to stop? And how do I ask them to stop at a spot we went to get off yet? Do we just say next stop? And to get back on, do we wave at the driver?

I’m staying 2 nights at ocean hotel. I have to leave once on Tuesday for a boat trip. Is it $15 per day whether I leave and come back? Any way I can get free hotel if I ask front desk?

Ive been to Ac many times but I'm taking my mother a Sunday -tuesday in August she's how do I say this difficult. The rest of us aren't I'm looking for an Italian restaurant within walking distance at the Tropicana. I live in a large city so I’m not worried about it being off of property.when I say she's difficult I mean she doesn't travel much she's not a Karen lol.

Spent last week at Ocean and had the best time. I keep looking at my calendar to figure out when to go back but I don’t think I’ll be able to make it. Sigh.

Travelling to AC for the first time in August for my husband's birthday. Would be grateful for any good recommendations for a birthday dinner: elevated but not super-expensive; vibes and interesting food experiments rather than classic huge portions; seafood preferable but not the only cuisine we'd consider; also, not too loud.
Also any other advice on food / quirky things to see (like Lucy the elephant) / beach to go to (if there is a difference between locations).
Thanks in advance!

So, I've been going to Borgata weekly to cash in on some freeplay, and while I'm there I go over to Golden Nugget. I like the vibes over there on weekday mornings. Almost no one there, no music blasting, just very chill. They've got some good video poker tables for the games I like to play.
One thing I don't understand though - I've gone there 4 or 5 times at this point. When I show up, there's no freeplay on my account. But if I play for awhile, bits of freeplay start showing up in my account bank that I can then use.
Is this normal and they don't pre-offer freeplay, or is it a situation where I'll need to play for a few months before the system will recognize my play and pre-load freeplay offers?

I always like it when we get these legit Vegas productions in AC, shows we still have some juice as the Entertainment Capital of the Jersey Shore. I know nothing about it other than the reviews are pretty good.
Interesting that we're getting four Saturday shows (and one Friday.) Wonder what the cast does during the week...maybe the touring crew (as opposed to the permanent Vegas crew) is NYC based mostly and they just go home.

I’m on a budget but wanted to treat my parents who never got to explore AC at ocean hotel. I heard there’s an incidental $100 per night so that’s $200 which I will get back. But are there other fees I have to pay??

Hey everyone, I went to AC a couple months ago and am returning again on Saturday.
I went to the borgata and resorts world and wasn’t too happy…
Borgata- jammed packed table minimums super high (if you can get a table) and just overall super super busy.
Resorts- tables were ok, let’s just say… not the cleanest.
Any casino I should go to instead? Pretty sure all of them will be jammed on a summer sat night. Maybe will just go to borgata again… taking all recommendations. Strictly casinos not staying the night and a young group of guys.

Can you rent a bike or e-bike from Ocean to get to Tropicana one way and then do the opposite ride back when you come out from casino?

I’m taking my 74 year old parents to AC for the first time. They were always hard working and never well off. I can’t afford to take them somewhere else. I booked 2 nights at Ocean Hotel from Mon to Weds.
I know check in is late, but we plan on getting to AC early around 8am. What are things we can do with them? Does the tram take us up and down the boardwalk? Is it a must if my dad has a hard time walking? And is it a must to go to the pier and try the carnival food?
At ocean hotel, is there an amazing view where we can see the ocean sunrise and sunset?
On Tuesday 4pm I booked a boat ride, at garden’s basin?

I don’t know what happened to this property but it has gone down hill severely. I went last week and they started letting kids in the adults only pool from 12 to 5 PM which I think is completely absurd, they have their own pool on the 4th floor of the Laguna tower. And I’m still ticked off at removing the waterfront buffet, there was zero reason to get rid of it, it was single handily the best thing that made Harrah’s special. And for the love of god, EXTEND THE POOL HOURS!!!
