Hi! A friend of mine and I are moving to Austin this year, and we’ve been narrowing down complexes with the best walkability/public transportation access for us.

So far our top area is Crestview as we’re also very familiar with a lot of the shops there, and our top choices after touring were Broadstone North Lamar and Argosy at Crestview. One of the complexes we were highly interested in and didn’t get to tour was Crestview Commons as it seemed like a great balance for what we each wanted, but I don’t even think we’ll get as far as touring as communicating with their office has made me want to tear my hair out…. It took multiple days, calls, emails since last week & while I was working to get more information about apartments and I don’t know if they just have new office people or what, but it was surprising to me given the place seems to have fairly positive reception😵‍💫
Another complex that we didn’t get to visit but is outside Crestview is The Rail near MLK, so if anyone has feedback regarding that one and if the area would be worth checking out, I’d love to hear it.
Would love to hear people’s thoughts on the complexes mentioned and any general advice, thanks yall!!

EDIT: forgot to mention this originally, but walkability is a big factor for us as well. Both of us work remote and while my friend has a car, I do not. Part of the appeal of Crestview for us was the short drive to groceries and short walks to a pharmacy, as well as the bus + rail access, so public transport will likely be used mainly for recreation and any errands that come up that can’t be done in the area.

Is the United Club at the Austin airport closed? I know they sometimes close it due to overcrowding but I’ve gotten a “temporarily closed “ message despite looking at it at various times of the day for the last three days.

Has anyone here personally worked with this Austin real estate agent?

We’re planning to sell our current home and then buy our next one, so we’re looking for honest, firsthand experiences.

I’d love to hear how she was as:
1) A listing agent (marketing, communication, pricing strategy, negotiation, and overall results)
2) Buyers agent (responsiveness, market knowledge, negotiation, and guidance throughout the process)

I’m not sure what are the good areas anymore. Good meaning…access to food, things to do, bike path/trails, safe, options for housing. Housing wise, I would like to stay under 3K for a house/townhome or apartment. I would like to find place/area that’s bikable/walkable and can easy get to the east Austin downtown area. Feel free to give me your other tips and advice for the area. Thanks in advance.

i was having this debate with a friend.

Basically he makes 75k and was saying how he feels that's poor. How he has no money to invest and can't live with jus t75k a year.

I make over 6 figures now which i feel lucky for but i also told him that i used to make 75k when i first started out in a more expensive state and even though i wasnt living it up, i still made it work and felt i could have a life, go on vacation, invest, etc. I basically said that i felt 75k was good enough if you knew how to budeet your money. It's not fuck you money, might need a roommate depending on where you live, but you can make it work.

He basically tried saying how i was out of touch, how when i made 75k it was in a different time (i made 75k-85k between 2019-2022 before job hopping).

So it got me to wondering, do you think 75k is poor in austin?

My husband and I are moving back to Austin to be with my family after having our first child. We are listing our home at the end of August. I need a realtor to help us with this relocation. Someone who is attentive, knowledgable and experienced with moving from one state to another.

Literally standing outside the wildlife hospital and they arnt picking up. I was told to drop off these baby pigeons I found while cleaning at my work place. Does anyone somehow have the numbers of someone who works here??? Ive been waiting outside for an hour and have to bum a phone charger off of a neighbor.

Moved to Austin within the last year or so. I know there are already tons of questions on this sub on how to find your community but I want to make it specific to trying to find a creative community. I really want to find others really into music and writing. Does anyone have any groups or recommendations for spots to meet these type of friends?

I’m a 29 year old single British male moving to Austin in September. My budget is around $3k. I’m looking for a social vibe ideally somewhere I can meet people easily.
I’ll be working fully remote, so I’m hoping for either coworking space in the apartment complex or good coworking options nearby that I’d use regularly.
I’m currently torn between Downtown and East Austin, so I’d love guidance between those two. Any particular apartment complex recommendations would be very welcome. I’ll probably be renting an Airbnb for the first month or so to build credit so I’ll definitely be scouting out the areas but any guidance is appreciated.

Im looking to move into an apartment in the South Lamar / East Riverside area over the next month and would love to hear anyone’s experiences in some of the complexes I’ve checked out so far. Mainly looking for best bang for my buck, good location, safe area, and little maintenance issues. My budget is around $2,000/month and trying to find a minimum of 700sqft 1BR.

- Gibson Flats: really liked the complex when I toured but it seemed a little on the pricier end for what you get and they also weren’t offering any specials. Had pretty solid reviews though.
- The 422: Love the location of this one with the trail and lake but it seems dated and the reviews I’ve read called out issues with the elevator and some safety concerns
- Lamar Union: still haven’t toured this one yet but I like the location of it but similar to above on issues with safety, package theft, and then have read a few comments on pest issues
- The 704: really like the price point for what you get but it feels out of the way and would add an additional 10-15 mins to my commute to work.

Would love to hear any experiences people who’ve stayed at the above can share or if there’s any complexes I haven’t checked out that would be good to add to the list.

My neurologist used to give an IV push (magnesium, Toradol and Depakote) three days in a row to end a rebound migraine. She closed her office, and I can’t find anywhere that will do this.

I’ve checked the mobile IV places, urgent care, the freestanding places that offer IVs and cryotherapy, and doctor offices.

ER is not an option. This is something I need frequently, and I’m not about to pay ER copay and deal with that nightmare of waiting for hours.

Supposedly, you can order these meds from Medline (?) but I can’t find anyone who can do it for me.

Considering to move to Cedar park or Leander, Tx. We were considering the below apartments (1*1):

1. ⁠The Alden at cedar park
   
2. ⁠Park at crystal falls
   
3. ⁠The view at cedar park

The cedar park ones are little expensive and come with a smaller sq ft. The park at crystal falls has great reviews (wondering if it’s actually true). Anyone who lives or knows about these apartments can you share your experience ? Any other apartments suggestions in these neighborhoods also appreciated.

Hi all! Moving to Austin solo and hoping to tap into some local expertise.

I'm 36, work remotely, and I'm looking for a furnished 1 bedroom in the $4K/month range. I'd love something modern with a nice view, amenities are a plus but not required. Since I'm moving on my own, I'd rather skip the furniture shopping and move into something move-in ready.

Hi everyone, basically I am a UT student living in a wampus apartment and renewed my lease. Since I did this, I thought I would be able to live in the apartment over the summer (or even just leave my stuff there over the summer), but recently I got an email from them stating that I had to vacate the properties on July 31st. I've tried to talk to them but they said I would get into legal trouble if I try to stay past midnight. I was not made aware of this until recently.

Since I'm taking classes at UT over the summer (ends in mid-August) I can't exactly go home (I live many hours away). I've been scrambling trying to find places to live for only 2 weeks and wanted to ask if anyone's gone through this and how they solved it. Any help is appreciated!

24F and I just moved to Austin for work and honestly, I’ve never felt this miserable. For context, I’m from Houston and I don’t drink.
Maybe I’ve just had bad luck, but people here have been a lot colder than what I’m used to. I’ve even experienced some behavior that felt racist, and that’s not something I usually jump to assume. It’s just been hard to ignore.
It also feels like everything revolves around drinking. I get why people enjoy bars, and there’s nothing wrong with that, but it’s just not my thing. I just want to grab a mocktail at a nice restaurant, try new places, have meaningful conversations, meet ambitious people, and build genuine friendships.
I don’t love my job, so I’ve really been trying to put myself out there to make friends and make Austin feel like home. I’ve gone to events, introduced myself to people, and I genuinely enjoy socializing. I’m not shy at all. It just feels like I haven’t found my crowd.

Does anyone else feel like it’s so hard to find people who want to do something other than party? I know Austin is a young city, but do people not just enjoy sitting down somewhere nice and having a real conversation anymore?
I’ve only been here for two months, and I’m honestly wondering how I’m going to make this place feel like home.
Has anyone else felt this way after moving here, or is it just me?

Niche grocery stores or farmers markets or something? I'm willing to make a longer drive for these. I just don't know anywhere that has them.
