Ma bell

So I’ve been listening to Dreamland lately, and I stumbled on this absolutely wild Art Bell episode where “Ma Bell” was in the studio with him. Callers were phoning in to ask her questions — everything from advice for young moms to raising kids.

Then this one caller, Danielle, comes in hot with: “Were you maybe impregnated by an alien and that’s how we got Art?” 🤣

Ma Bell doesn’t even miss a beat. She just goes, “Maybe… you never know.” Iconic.

And then Art casually drops that his mom was one of the first female Marine drill instructors. That’s legitimately awesome. The contrast between her sweet, gentle vibe on-air and the fact that she was out there breaking barriers in the Marine Corps is incredible.

She sounded like such a kind lady. I’m sure she’s no longer with us now, but man… what a legend…..

Remember when the media was trying to blame Art Bell for the Heavensgate mass sewer-cide?

Paging Dean in Tampa!/Dreamland -Tampa Bay Legends 1997.

Sunday May 4th, 1997 episode of Dreamland. My local AM station did not run Dreamland, we got a repeat of C2C on sunday, one at 9 and another at 1 am.
On this episode we have first up, a very short interview (less than 5 mins)with a sailor named Robert Bodell, who on a solo trip from Tampa to Long Island experienced missing time.
Then main guest is Bill Miller, promoting his Tampa Triangle book.
Ghosts, including a female hitchhiker ghost, Dean where are you ???!!!!!, UFO's, giant sharks, sunken WW2 submarines and all kinds of stuff.
Some cool stories and even cooler calls in this show.
And of course, one has to wonder if the infamous frequent C2C caller Dean in Tampa has heard this one !

Memorial Day 1997 Art's UFO Sighting/Open Lines/John McKinnon

Art and Ramona's UFO sighting. They talk about it, and take calls and get a few other people who claim to have seen the UFO in the area.
Second hour of the show is John McKinnon, a tv station manager in Wisconsin, who decided to do a live TV show based on Art's type of show. He found his station shut down, and a real mess erupted around him. I cant find any reference to John and his story on the web. Great listen none the less. More open lines follow John McKinnon.
I recall this show, only the Art UFO sighting, I had forgotten John and his story.

Thoughts on Art being a cryptid?

A lot of time has gone by so I think it's worth discussing without hurt feelings. Art was a wonderful man but very clearly had the bodily proportions of a great ape; from his broad-sternumed chest to his in unwieldy, near-puppeteered arms

Is it possible that he himself was a sasquatch or perhaps skunk ape and if so, how does that effect his independent reporting?

Additional food for thought: does his mustache imply a chupacabra connection?

Blasting out of the Mojave Desert like a sirocco. Went around to various sites in Pahrump and made this tribute to Art Bell.

Were there any episodes or guests that made you believe in something you didn't expect?

Most people here seem to have the attitude that most guests were and are full of it, and that it's more for entertainment purposes than actual facts (true). But among the hundreds, if not thousands, of interviews and conversations, what stands out for you as something on the edge of reality but just as real as the air we breathe?

Fascinating episode that I missed all these years with UFO researcher Bill McDonald about autism and the Greys.

If you or someone you know is on the autism spectrum, Bill McDonald, whose child was suffering from autism, gave a fascinating episode that seems to have passed the test of time. Hidden gem.

Too bad there isn’t a show reaching 10 million simultaneously

So that we can do a mass consciousness experiment to put rain on the Canadian wildfires.

Did anyone else participate in one of several that art did before he got nervous about the far reaching ramifications/unintended consequences of these experiments? I recall the Texas drought experiment and concentrating on a downpour over the cities and towns I had been to. Despite nothing in the forecast it did rain that day.

Back in the day. (Ramona Bell impersonation on AOL)

Many MANY years ago, (1994/1995/1996) several wild types used to meet up using Mirc on art.bell chat. One of the regulars convinced AOL he was Ramona Bell and was ready to do a live AMA. The conversation went completely off the rails in a matter of minutes and the impersonator was kicked off AOL. (Good times!l) I wonder what ever happened to them. Hoofa, pumprhead, so many wild lads, causing havoc.

Maybe one day we can talk about the alt.mormon group they stormed (same people).... (also, alt.catholic)- equal opportunity offenders.

Anyway, if you are out there and you see this- thanks for the good times. Bolo4Me/WarFlower

Today I learned there was a Bell/Strieber book from 1999 I’d never heard of.

The Edge…. Saw it in the book catalog in the back of Bell and Steiger’s the source. I can’t find it online anywhere for sale. All of the other books are easy enough to find. Did this one never get published?

Edit: Cleaned up link

Anywhere to buy art bell cassettes?

Basically title. I collect and listen to cassettes. I’d like to own one of those old recordings of live coast to coast I’ve seen pictures of, but they don’t seem to be available online. Is there some other place I don’t know about where I can find them for sale? Ps. I know it’s possible to take a digital recording and put it on cassette. I just don’t have the equipment for it.

Book suggestions for a C2C fan?

As some one who has recently started listening heavily to Art Bell's Coast to Coast, what books might you suggest? The more wonder it invokes, the better.
Thanks.
