Discord for anohana

I see there is no discord for anohana and find it strange as it’s such a good anime! I have made a discord server for this anime if anyone wants to join though seeing there’s only 700 subs I don’t think it will be big 😓. The link to the discord is https://discord.gg/HaBnAWN

PSA: New User Flairs Available

Hi everyone!

Jintan, Menma, Anaru, Tsuruko, Poppo and Yukiatsu are now available as flairs for all users! You can pick your favourite one, and it'll show next to your username every time you post/comment on the subreddit.

In order to add it:

On browser: Navigate to the right-hand side of the community page and click on the icon next to User Flair Preview. Then, select the user flair you prefer and click Apply.

On iOS and Android apps: Tap the ... menu in the upper right-hand corner of the community page. Select the Change user flair option, pick your favourite flair and then click Apply.

That's it! You can change it any time you want, too~

Please Note: User flairs may not display correctly on iOS, appearing as white blanks icons instead. It's a well-known bug, that occurs in several other subreddits too. A solution is currently under development by the Reddit team.

(long yap plz dont mind)

I was first familiarised with this anime thought secret base song one of the first proper songs I learned a few years ago and judging by the comments i could see that this was gonna be a sad anime so I saved this anime for later and almost 4-5 years later I watched for the first time today i completed all ep in one go and omg was this ab roller coaster of a ride

This was so different from what I expected The big plot twists of ep 4 and ep 7 were too good i didn't expect him to cross dress out of everything 😭

Up until ep 10 i didn't really like the multiple crushes on each other and how they handled the "relationship" aspects but after watching the last 2 ep everything made sense and omg was it so good .

I cried for at least 45 min continuously even after the anime finished 😭

This anime really had so much more going on than just fulfilling her wish almost reminds me of silent voice I love how they treated the parents part because i kinda relate to jin i have both especially since my dad is almost exactly like him not only that but how they still maintained the selfishness of character without making them insufferable.

I am taken aback by how good of an anime this was despite only being 11 ep long .

All in all I loved it and I am so glad i decided to watch this today it's been a while since I cried so i CRIED my heart out or atleast as much as i could

And ofc the last letter part with the secret base song and ' You found me' so good 😭💙 i will say there were a lot of times where i didn't like few characters (yuki) and the 2 girls who were friends with anjo because she was dragged to a love hotel because of it but it seems everything was good in the end atleast ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I loved it.

I have never watched an anime that made me cry. The whole story is impactful and shook me to my core about how short life can be and the lies we tell ourselves to cope when we lose someone we love. If this series doesn't move you at least a little, you have a heart of stone.

The Day I Became a God

I just finished watching The Day I Became a God. Friendship, loss, and cherishing the time we have with the people who matter most. Sounds familiar, right? It almost made me feel like Anohana did. Almost. And so I highly recommend watching this anime if you liked Anohana. Anohana is still my favourite anime of all time, but The Day I Became a God just entered my all-time top 10.

Just a small edit I made for Anohana and Missing Halloween. I find it interesting how their stories and the "you found me" moment kind of parallel each other

Both are emotional animations about ghost girls who roam among the living trying to pass on to the other side with only a boy able to see them. Both stories end at a tree with the ghost girls finally being "found" by the people searching for them and with the words "you found me"

I'm hyper-focused on Menma, I wish we could have a continuation with her reincarnated and staying and living her love with Jintan and her friends.

I feel sorry for Menma; she deserved better friends. Anaru and Tsuruko, Spoiler

When Menma was a child and alive, Anaru and Tsuruko disliked her out of jealousy and envy and wanted her to leave. Anaru's reaction to Menma's death is terrifying; if she had lived, she would have discovered how deceitful they were.

Post watch thoughts Spoiler

I've never been much of a crier to be honest, I didn't cry during AOT's finale, nor cyberpunk and anything of that sort. Honestly it had gotten to the point where I thought no anime could even emotionally effect me at all and to be honest I was pretty jealous of others who've had these emotional moments with shows whereas I just watch on like nothing's happening.

All of this changed when I watched this beautiful work of art.

I'll never forget the night I first watched it which was just a couple of nights ago to be fair. I cried like I never cried before, it didn't feel forced, it didn't feel hard, tears just came. There was just something about Jin's life story unfolding before me that struck so much relatability with me and the tears came as easy as breathing did. I was taken back to my own childhood in 2016 where I was sort of the ringleader of every group of friends I had been in. It was like this until covid where everything changed. I saw transformations in my friends and peers that I didn't grow parallel with. Everyone had changed and I felt as though only I had stayed somewhat the same. Change was scary. Adapting is equally uncomfortable. I'll never forget crying through all first four episodes on the first night watching until 3 am.

Honestly in hindsight this anime was lowkey kind of perfect. I'm honestly a pretty harsh critique since I've watched a lot of shows but genuinely, this one just takes it for me. Just something about the themes and writing that gives way to a bitter sort of nostalgia in me that I've already come to terms with. This alongside good pacing and absolutely beautiful soundtracks (especailly secret base) just made every episode a tear-jerker and for sure my number one anime of all time.

Love is precious, time is precious, memories are precious,

take it seriously:)

My Anohana journey. Episode 2

Ok so this episode was pretty good. I liked seeing Jinta, Anaru, and Poppo getting close again. And the episode revolving around Pokémon and getting a rare one was pretty cool. Also the reference to A Silent Voice was cool. I mean i loved that movie. Anyway I’m looking forward to everyone getting back together eventually and figuring and Menma’s wish. I’m assuming she can’t “move on” to the afterlife or whatever until her wish is granted. Anyway this episode was pretty good and I liked it.

My Anohana journey. Episode 1.

So I know some of you want to see this so after every episode I’m going to put my thoughts, theories, reactions or whatever into here. So my thoughts on episode 1 are here.

I think episode 1 was really good. I was confused at first when Honma was jumping all over Jinta. I thought it was his sister lol. Then I quickly realized she was his friend. Eventually it clicked that she was dead and a spirit I guess. (Hopefully no hollows attack her. Bleach reference lol) anyway once I realized she was dead it made me sad obviously. Then she was talking about her wish and wanting to get everyone back together. So I assume that’s what’s going on to happen first and then the will try to fulfill her wish. Also I think she drowned but idk. There was a shoe in a river so I assume that’s what happened. Anyway I’m looking forward to my journey through this anime.

Re-Kan! Episode 8 (or as I call it: "The Anohana PTSD episode"

Post image
24 Upvotes

Last week I watched the anime show Re-Kan! It's about a girl that can see ghosts. I enjoyed it a lot, but episode 8 really hit me. It's about the cutest ghost girl, and the main characters are looking for a way to have her finally ascend to heaven. Sound familiar? Well, she doesn't only look like Menma, the whole episode felt like an Anohana PTSD trip. Watch it if you have the chance, crying guaranteed.
