So if anybody wants a solution they won't have to scour the internet for what are essentially the same uses over and over again
Here's a short list I made through searching this sub and other threads+articles:
Keep it as a backup phone
Dedicated camera
Dedicated music player (especially LG phones with qDAC)
Baby/pet monitor
Use it as a smart doorbell
Use it to record POVs akin to GoPros
Smart Home controller
Bedside alarm clock
Universal remote
Remote PC controller
Help science by lending your phones power for research
Dedicated eReader
Dedicated gaming machine
Webcam
Dedicated car phone for GPS etc
Dashcam
Digital photo frame
Education tool for kids
Video call device
Wifi extender/hotspot
Host a media server on it (Plex etc)
Host a normal server on it (c. /u/3Werve)
Timelapse camera
Give it to kids
PC Statistics (CPU, GPU usage)
Wireless adapter for wired controllers
Kitchen recipe guide
PC Monitor
Macro pad for PC
White noise machine
Disassemble and make an art piece out of it
Experimentation (e.g trying out apps or ROMs)
Dedicated chat device (Whatsapp, Telegram etc) (c. /u/utakatikmobil)
Cast Receiver (c. /u/Substantial_Berry_14)
m3u IPTV player (c. Substantial_Berry_14)
Donate it
Recycle it
Sell it
I may link to examples or guides but for now im a bit too lazy. Googling should be enough, if not add site:reddit.com to the end of your query
*: Damn got permabanned from reddit for posting the navy seals copypasta, think someone else might need to take over if they don't unban me

(The main system on here is android kitkat) So I got this sprout cubby tablet about 3 weeks ago anyways I signed out of the tablet and i realized I can’t sign back in and the video app on here dosent work so I was wondering how to get the videos off of this thing they are on the sd card (second photo) the start guide that I got with it tells you to sign into parent mode so u can add stuff by connecting to your pc and I can’t sign In at all,my best guess is to take the sd card out but what after? I’d u have any tips plese share em I just want the videos off this bad boy!

Managed to get lineageos 18.1 recovery booting on HTC HD2 maybe we get the revival it needs after all
Framebuffer is fucked it needs some hax to android source code to properly support it or I have to add some hax from uefi to downstream kernel to make it use a modern framebuffer

About a week ago I made a post scavenging for a good maps app on my 2.3.7 phone and I found out that Google maps 7.x would be a good app install but the phone already comes with Google maps and I can't delete the default Google maps app without root access and in order for me to get Google maps 7x I have to delete the default and was wondering if there's any other apps that I can get without root access that are maps/navigation and public transportation schedules

This project started as a way to use the amazon echo show 8 (with lineageos) speakers to listen to spotify but it is scalating to a swiss army knife of local services. That's how Rusty - a free open-source Android app, was born. Now it can behave as:

The Spotify part runs on librespot (an unofficial client) and needs Spotify Premium. The photo frame and dashboard don't need any of that. Everything is local network — no cloud account for the app itself.
Runs on arm64 or 32-bit ARM, Android 8.0+. I've tested it on an Echo Show 8 (running LineageOS) and a Lenovo Tab M10, but I'd love to hear what other zombie devices it comes to life on.

Prebuilt APK:

If you try it on some ancient tablet, tell me how it goes — bug reports and ideas welcome on GitHub.

I have this old Vizio XR6P10 device with Android 6.0.1 sitting in a drawer. I was thinking of giving it to my neighbor's kid to use for YouTube and some basic games. The YouTube app keeps asking to update to a later version, but when I go into the Play Store it doesn't find any newer versions. Is there some workaround or APK I can install to allow YouTube access on this older device? What other apps can I side load for quality of life improvements? Any help would be appreciated.
It doesn't look like any custom ROMs or alternate OS exists for this device from what I can find...

What do you all think about using an old Android phone from around 2016–2018 as a dedicated hotspot device?
The plan is to leave a SIM card in it and use it exclusively for sharing an internet connection with the whole family, rather than as a regular phone. We’d be using it heavily at home and eventually while traveling to neighboring countries in Asia.
Has anyone done this long-term? How did it hold up in terms of battery life, heat, connection stability, and overall reliability? Are there any older Android models that work particularly well for this purpose?

RIP to the LG Optimus Elite archives.
LG says the firmware and restoration files are gone for good.
If anyone has an old hard drive full of VM696 stuff. At this point, I'm genuinely willing to pay if anyone has the original VM696 firmware, LGNPST files, DLLs, service tools, backups—literally anything for the LG Optimus Elite. I've spent weeks searching and every link is dead.

調べたけど、T1-A22Lに関する情報はなかった。多分日本のキャリアのeo光で買ったらしい。eo光のアプリがたくさん入ってて、消したいんだけどroot化する方法はない?ちなみにandroid4.4.4
I looked into it, but I couldn't find any information on the T1-A22L. It seems to have been purchased from the Japanese carrier eo Hikari. It came with a lot of eo Hikari apps pre-installed that I want to remove—is there any way to root it? By the way, it's running Android 4.4.4.

To power on your device without the power button, do the following:
To enter Download Mode without the power button, do this:
Or
To get out of Download Mode, just remove the battery and do the How to Power on guide again
To power on your device to Recovery Mode without the power button, do the following:
If your device is powered on, you just need to do step 7.
To turn your screen off on system, you have 2 options
Despite not being safe, you can take off the back cover, and remove the battery from the device.
If your device is rooted and it's turned on, you can install some apps that use Superuser to boot into Download Mode and Recovery Mode too (I recommend Clockworkmod's ROM Manager)

I'm looking to bring some new life into an old stock phone (lg lm-x410asr) that has been gathering dust for a while now, since a landfill would be a shame.
Trouble is I am left with 720MB of 2GB RAM on a fresh boot, so it can't even play a video on Paramount for a Chromecast.
My other idea is as a remote for a computer stick, if anyone knows if this is possible.
I can unlock the OEM just fine, but have yet to find any sort of images other than just the stock 8.1 Android. It doesn't seem like lineage shows the device as supported; has anyone managed to find a way to get a custom Android image or Linux on this with wifi? Anywhere else I could look that might have the required firmware?
