Moving here… what to know!

Hi guys, I just got offered a job in Allentown and I’d like to get your advice! My boyfriend and I will be moving across the country from a significantly larger city. We are both mid twenties and very sociable people that love just about everything. We will be looking for apartments too so any advice there will be put to good use! Thanks!

What can i do about a$$hole neighbors who won't stop blasting music with a boombox

I have called the non emergency 911 on these people so many times and i'm not even sure if an officer came out each time. They keep blasting music with this giant ass boombox outside all hours of the day and night. weekends, weekdays. it doesn't matter. And god forbid theres a holiday they wanna blast this ish all day long.

The volume is literally, and i'm not even joking, club volumed. like its so loud if i wanna talk to anyone in my own house i have to shout to speak to them. INSIDE...MY...OWN...HOUSE. And whenever they wanna talk to each other you know what they do? They turn down the f**king music so low i can barely hear it and all i hear is them talking to each other. Then when their two minute conversation is over then turn it right back up again. so basically they can turn it down to talk to each other but the rest of neighborhood isn't allowed to talk to anyone in their own house without shouting.

I don't watch tv on tv anymore. i stream on my computer and i kid you not i HAVE TO, like i literally HAVE TO play any sound on my computer through my speaker to only kinda hear any show i am watching. And ON MAX VOLUME. And its still hard to hear whatever i am watching. like what is wrong with these people? I've told them more than once over the years to turn it down. and the music goes down for that day but only at that time only, then its right back up again.

I have so much rage for these people. like i fantasy about doing bad things to them, but then i remember i ain't built for jail. I can't fight. So please someone can you tell me what can i do to stop this madness. i don't like thinking negatively or violently. it goes against my nature.

What else can i do besides call the non emergency number because these people won't stop. we don't live in a rich area, so i think making them pay really high fines would be the only way to stop them, but apparently the police won't do that.

Data center meeting TONIGHT

Developers meet with allentown planning commission tonight @ 5:30 pm city council chambers (435 hamilton)

****WE NEED YOU TO SHOW UP!!*****

The Allentown Planning Commission will hear from the developers for the 2401 W Emaus Ave project and also from US! We need to show them that we care, that we will continue to show up, and don't want this in our neighborhood.

Y'all, I have seen the plans for this project. 36 diesel back up generators. A huge brand new power substation. Cooling and air conditioning units running 24/7 next to the building. Trucking WATER in on a regular basis (so that they don't have to take water from our already drought ridden community). THAT WATER COMES FROM SOMEWHERE.

I have heard the developers speak about this data center. They want you to believe that it will be 'good' for the community, that they will be a better neighbor to us than any other business that would take up residence at this location. They want you to believe that this data center is just like any other, one that MIGHT be used for the storage of health network data, or some other 'reasonable justification', WHEN THEY HAVE NEVER STATED WHAT DATA THIS CENTER WOULD HOLD. As a matter of fact, we've been asking. Not once have they shared who the proposed user of this data center would be. Not once have they shared what kind of data will be stored here.

The fact that they can apply for this project without literally any further testing (like traffic studies, air pollution studies, water usage studies) is absolutely appalling. Lets demand what is owed to us as a community-

-unbiased projections of just how much this will cost and effect our community in the long run. Extensive studies for water, noise, energy, and environmental impacts before even allowing this proposal to continue.

-WHO WOULD BE THE USER(S) OF THIS DATA CENTER?

PLEASE- we need you to show up. If you care, show up for your neighborhood, your city, your community, your neighbors, your children.

Anxious, Angry, Upset, Frustrated or in Fear about the proposed DATA CENTERS in Allentown & Whitehall?

Fighting for what you want is good. Being in your emotions is not.

If you are upset, angry, anxious, frustrated or in fear about the proposed data centers in Allentown or Whitehall, or about literally anything else happening in the world -- you're out of control and NOT in your power.

I teach classes for activists in Allentown & all of Lehigh Valley.

One of them is called Triggered! Where I teach you how to process your emotions in a healthy way, so you get into your power.

I also have a classes on Healing Your Smartphone Addiction.

And other related trainings. Because it's NOT just about the DATA CENTERS, there are a lot of issues going on these days and they're all connected.

Get aligned with truth so you can actually make a positive difference in this world, rather than going around in circles, and getting no where.

Richard Knoll in Raspberry Court allentown

My friend is a stylist and is looking for a major scenery change. I recommended her Richard Knoll, but i wanted more of an input than I could provide.

How is the environment there?

Is there good management?

Is there a decent opportunity to grow your book while working there?

And any other advice or experiences is welcome!

Downtown Allentown's delusional marketing propaganda

Anyone else see downtown allentown's new marketing propaganda?

Look, I understand that you are trying to "fix up" downtown, but this is straight up delusional.

If I had to pick 3 words to describe downtown allentown, these would NOT be it.

I think we need to have a discussion about having INTEGRITY when marketing.

Special data center city council meeting TOMORROW 6/24

Wednesday, June 24th at 5:45pm at City Council Chambers, 435 Hamilton St

Special City Council meeting to review amendments to Bill 20. After City Council agreed that the ordinances were not as strong as they could be last week and still passed Bill 20 as is, they will now start the lengthy process to strengthen it. Once again, here is the link to read current Bill 20

PA Stands Up has written talking points for the June 24th meeting

EXAMPLES OF STRONG ORDINANCES TO PULL FROM TO AMEND OURS:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1XrHDCk9YCb8M4mN-Zun1KWM9slNvTBM1/view

https://www.luzernecounty.org/DocumentCenter/View/47756/20260308_LCPC_Zoning_Ordinance_Amendment_1_of_2026_V4

GENERAL TOPICS:

Our ordinance be stricter about zoning requirements, rather than 'use by right' we should specify 'special exception use'

Our ordinance should include rules around when the public should be made aware of applications

LOCATION & PLACEMENT:

It currently only requires 200 foot setbacks from homes which greenlights the Emaus Ave project. Ordinances are being passed across the state with as high as 2500 foot setbacks.

Our ordinance should ban data centers from being built near schools, places of worship, parks, or hospitals

Our ordinance should require traffic and transportation studies and then implementation plans for ensuring transportation is not disrupted

NOISE/LIGHT:

Our ordinance should define noise limits

Our ordinance should require noise testing

Our ordinance should have a process for community members to file noise complaints

Our ordinance should regulate external lighting

CONSTRUCTION/DECOMMISSION:

Our ordinance should include decommissioning requirements

Our ordinance should include provisions requiring the developer to restore the land as a natural area with a decommissioning fund if the data center is decommissioned

Our ordinance should require the fire department and their equipment to be tested to make sure they have what they need for data center-specific emergencies like lithium-ion battery fires and electrical system failures

ENVIRONMENTAL/WATER:

Our ordinance should provide specifics on the size, interval, and types of plants for a landscape buffer

Our ordinance should require that data center applicants submit an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) that would show all the possible environmental impacts of the data centers and solutions for all the identified problems. These issues include things like air quality, soil quality, surface water quality, groundwater sources, impacts on wildlife including endangered & threatened species, and increased temperatures around the data center.

Our ordinance should require water usage reports to be done and transparent to the public

ENERGY:

Our ordinance should have strict rules and requirements for how much of the energy used should be from renewable energy sources

Our ordinance should require electricity usage reports to be done and transparent to the public

Our ordinance should have strict regulations around backup generators and emissions, like rules around meeting emission standards, when generators should be used and tested, and how fuel is stored and prevented from spilling

Our ordinance should have strict rules around how hazardous materials would be used, stored, or generated.

If you cannot attend this meeting in person, here is the link to the live stream of the council meeting    (click link under VIDEO for June 24th)

If you cannot attend this meeting in person, PLEASE EMAIL CITY COUNCIL. You can copy and paste the verbiage from above. EMAIL [email protected] and [email protected]

Allentown growth.

It's nice to see Allentown growing again as Google Earth shows . Now if they can only get that pencil Tower built , the lone Tower landmark will have company of equal size 😊 Allentown deserves a decent skyline. Not necessarily super tall , but a nice clustering of mid Rises , a modest Skyline like Newark. It's already starting to take shape when you see Allentown from a distance .
