.50¢ a can in southern California (normally .57¢), to my knowledge there is no can of cat food cheaper. does anyone know anywhere cheaper?

I havent been in this group for a while, and maybe its been discussed before, but I went into my local Aldi this afternoon and the shelves were empty. There was a lot missing. Kinda wondered if they were reorganizing the place. The isle of shame was almost completely empty. Many of their fruit and vegetables were gone.

Also, I'm kinda ticked off. They've stopped selling the Espresso coffee bricks. That has been my goto ever since they opened near me. Im kinda lost without it.

These taste great but where does the carb come from? What spice is 1 carb?

Does anyone understand where the carbs come from? Is it from the carrots, corn, sugar?? Minus, the Konjac noodles, I know they’re fiber-rich!

Curious how I can make it keto lol

EDIT: I know not all Konjac noodles are created equal. I’ve determined carbs contribute to the sauce largely, carrots, corn, sugars lurking. I’m not reaching for entirely keto but more carb conscious :)
Perhaps rinsing the package would help, and creating my own simple sauce!

I made a nice sandwich with it for lunch using potato bun, pickle, havarti, and crispy onions. All from aldis ofc. Not pictured because I was hungry.

When I think of pizza soup, I picture the second photo. But I knew damn well what this bag was gonna be. For 19¢ I gave into my curiosity. I figured I would eat two bites then throw it away, but today I was missing a can of cream of chicken soup in my recipe - and I saw this hiding on the bottom shelf of my pantry. I'm so mad that my recipe turned out even better with this abomination 🤣 if anyone's looking for a way to use theirs up, give this a try:

2.5 lbs chicken breast

1 cup broth

1 box stuffing

1 can black beans, drained

1 bag of "soup"

Cook chicken on low with broth in slow cooker for three hours. Add in stuffing, beans, and soup. Cook for another 1-2 hours. Serve with chips or alongside a salad!

Who was the graphic designer here?? Why do some of the shapes have ROUNDED EDGES? How am I supposed to teach about corners when the corners are rounded? I don’t think I even need to say anything about the numbers. The rest of the posters in the pack were fine, this was in the teaching section in the aisle of shame.

I hope this question isn't inappropriate and allowed on this subreddit but I am considering applying for a part-time retail role at Aldi and just saw an opening for a Part-Time Store Cashier/Stocker at a new store opening in my area of the Twin Cities, MN.

Not having any insight into how things work at Aldi, I was wondering if someone could explain what the expectations would be in terms of availability, hours, etc? I do see a mention in the job description that the ideal candidate would have to flex as a both a cashier AND stocker (with an expectation to be there at 5am to stock). Does that mean ALL of the shifts will start at 5am? Or does it differ based on store needs? Thanks in advance!!!

Mama Cozzi is always a toss up. I never really care for the dough. This time the sauce is what turned me off. It also could have used a lot more cheese. I added pepperoni because I couldn't get the pepperoni one. Overall, better than most Mama Cozzi but I won't buy it again.

Strawberries were 99 cents at Aldi today. Thrilling! Utterly exhilarating! So I bought two.

Imagine my despair when I got home and realized they'd charged me $3.49 EACH. Seven dollars.

Because I accidentally bought the wretched organic strawberries.

Found on clearance for fifty instead of seventy. I was buying large bags of ice for two dollars at the UGO. Yes, I know ice trays are cheaper.

German here. I have seen some posts in this sub about Deutsche Küche and I am curious: which is your favorite dish from this brand? In Germany it’s not available. Products like Spätzle or Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte belong to other Aldi brands here in Germany.

I picked up a box of the Baker's Corner Hot Honey cornbread mix today, as it was marked down to 69 cents at my local store. I never buy cornbread mix, just because I tend to have all the ingredients for cornbread at home, but the price intrigued me and when I saw that it did not have lard like many other cornbread mixes tend to have, I was sold.

This box contained ~2.75 cups of dry mix and recommends mixing in 2 eggs, 6 tbsp of melted butter, and 3/4 cup of water. Instead of water, I used 1/4 cup of sour cream and 1/2 cup of half and half doctored with a big splash of bottled lime juice to approximate something like buttermilk. I also added a few shakes of garlic powder, 2oz of shredded gouda cheese, and 1 stalk's worth of green onion. I baked it in muffin liners for 16 minutes at 400°F, and they came out perfectly. Tastewise, they had a strong dried pepper smell, but they weren't overwhelmingly spicy. They were not as sweet as I expected, which I liked since it meant I could add a little drizzle of honey on top of the baked muffin. All the additional ingredients were Aldi ingredients btw.

Overall, pretty happy with the risk I took on this mix! At the current price, it was worth trying, but I probably won't buy more unless it gets marked down further. I've seen these drop to $0.19 in past seasons, so I guess people in my area aren't huge fans of these mixes. The other one being sold was the cinnamon churro cornbread mix, which I did not purchase.

Just tried them, a little salty but otherwise very tasty! I also grabbed another variety that had a mix of different veggies, but I haven't tried that one yet.

$20 is a bit more than I would normally pay for an impulse buy, but I have been really happy with it so far! It melts the candle quickly and evenly, and I love the lantern design.

There's like no quinoa. Disappointing. Wouldn't buy again. Flavor is meh.
