Dogs in grocery stores/restaurants etc

Rant. Anyone else super sick of seeing dogs in grocery stores and other places with food everywhere! I went to Trader Joe’s the other day and just in that instance, there were TWO people inside with their little chihuahuas walking around. And one was poorly trained, jumping on people, and barking. No service animal vest or anything. Guys, come on, it’s gross! I love my dog too but they don’t need to come with you everywhere.

Obviously I have no issue with people who actually have trained service animals/alert dogs. But I’m highly suspicious that the little white yapper dog isn’t a TRAINED service animal. People that abuse this really piss me off, as someone who has a disability and might really need assistance from a service animal one day.

I guess employees are apprehensive to doing anything since service animals and certifications aren’t really regulated and it isn’t legal to ask for documentation, but I really wish it was. (As far as I know?) And again, this ruins it for people who truly need it.

Don’t be that person who ruins it for someone who truly needs the service animal! I promise Sprinkles will be ok at home!

PSA Bikes can treat stop signs as yield and red lights as stop signs

This has been the law in the state of New Mexico for like an entire year. This is actually safer and faster for everyone.

https://www.dot.nm.gov/blog/2025/07/02/new-mexico-adopts-idaho-stop-for-cyclists/

PS: Dear old-ass BMW driver who honked at me this morning from a half block away while I was taking advantage of this law, then yelled "fuck you" out the window at me: What I did was perfectly legal and did not impact you in the slightest. Take your blood pressure meds and mind your own goddamn business.

Unleashed dogs

The amount of people who allow their dogs to be off leash in an unfenced front yard and/or while in walks is getting out of hand. Yesterday, my dog and I were on our usual route in our neighborhood when a large pit bull ran out of a garage and straight at my dog. Of course, the owner refused to do anything remotely close to retrieving the dog all while just standing in their yard yelling at it while it tried to bite my dog who I had to pick up off the ground. Meanwhile, a second dog runs out after us and continues to follow us down the road while the owner still was doing nothing. The large dog who had run out at us first finally gave up and ran away, almost getting hit by a car in the process and the small dog kept running off in the opposite direction while the owner still just stood in the driveway yelling at it. I was so shaken up and trying to calm my dog that I couldn’t even work up the words to say. The owner didn’t even bother to apologize or literally say anything to me at all. It’s getting ridiculous. This is the second occurrence in my neighborhood where a dog has ran up on me like this. The scary thing is that there are kids in this neighborhood that play outside all of the time. What if this dog had run up on a kid like that? The poor ownership of animals (specifically large dogs) in this city is absurd. It’s like the lowest IQ people get these large dogs and do absolutely nothing to train them. It’s an accident waiting to happen. DO BETTER.

Just a little blast from the past. The prices used to be so low! Imagine being able to finance a new car for $25 a week.

Punks over 40?

My husband and I moved to Albuquerque in 2024 for his job. I haven’t been out much h in ABQ, mostly due to work, kid, grandkid stuff… but I miss going to shows and mingling in the local punk scene.

I guess my question is there an older crowd that still frequents shows etc? I would love to meet some people and truthfully, I’d like to get out of the house and check out some local bands.

For extra context, my husband works weekend overnights, so this is more for my benefit than his.
Just looking for new friends who can relate!

Question ABQ Restaurants that serves Fideo as a Main Dish? (Not a Side Dish)

Reason I’m asking is because I only one I know that serves Fideo as a main dish is “My Moms” located in Downtown but it’ll be closing permanently on July 31st. So I would like to know if there’s any Albuquerque restaurants that serves Fideo that isn’t a side dish or appetizer?

What’s going on with Tramway lately?

Driving Tramway over the last month has been brutal. Cars in both lanes going 10mph under the speed limit and the traffic light cadence seems worse than before. Driving me mad!

They’re tearing up our neighborhood this week and have already knocked the power out and yesterday lost control of this big ass thing. You can see my neighbors mailbox get obliterated as it continues to barrel into a tree out of frame. Fun stuff!

Question Looking for someone with a mini-dv camera or player

I have about a dozen or so twenty year old mini-dv tapes with family recordings that I'd like to rip to digital so I can make them available to family. I'm happy to pay to borrow/use someone's device. I can also offer 8mm/super 8mm film digitization in exchange if you have any old film you want to archive.

Question Who sells your favorite green chile cheese fries?

Upvotes

Looking for your favorite spot for green chile cheese fries (or xmas, whatever works!), with two preferences:

1 - They can't use green chile sauce / the liquid form. Looking for that actual chopped green.
2 - It needs to be real fries, bonus points for wedge style.

Dog Boarding Recommendations

Hello, do you have positive experiences with dog boarding in town? Do you have any recommendations?

Would like to find a place that is safe and reliable that offers either 1:1 human or SAFE dog socialization for my dog. But overall, I'm looking for place that I know my dog will be taken care of while I am out of town for about a week.

Event Burlesque/drag/draglesque show at The Launchpad on July 25 – all New Mexico performers, fundraiser for a 2027 festival

Post image
44 Upvotes

Hi ABQ! I'm one of the producers of High Desert Heatwave Fiesta, a burlesque, drag, and draglesque festival we're building for a Summer 2027 launch here in Albuquerque. Our team has decades of combined experience performing and producing in the NM scene, and we're doing it collectively, no single owner, no out-of-state promoter.

On Saturday, July 25 we're throwing Nud-I-Tease at The Launchpad (618 Central Ave SW), a fundraiser showcase featuring performers from across the state. Burlesque, drag, and draglesque all in one lineup, hosted by Raven Lass and Juni Beurre Amie, plus local art vendors.

Details:

Doors 7 PM, show 8 PM

$20 GA / $30 VIP

21+

Street parking plus paid lots nearby

If you've never been to a burlesque or drag show, this is a great first one, and if you have, you already know how fun a Launchpad crowd gets. Happy to answer any questions about the show or the festival in the comments!

Not a super serious post
But the amount of “is this real?” “Does this look legit?” Posts I see are absurd
Like aren’t yall adults?
Are you capable of complex thoughts?
