Text Fail Google doesn’t know what the fox says.
My wife was joking about mooing to request cow’s milk in her coffee when we go to Japan, and I googled for Japanese animal sounds.

Hi, everyone!
I'm sure many of you will have noticed that this sub has been restricted for the last few days, since about 11 days ago. This was due to the departure of the previous moderator team.
A new moderator team has been appointed, and the restriction has been removed starting today, December 18, 2025, so you can start publishing amusing and illuminating failures on the part of artificial intelligence again.
The new moderator team consists of the following individuals:
We do not know why the previous moderators were removed, although I have shared what information we do have in the comments under this post.
For now, the rules and the scope of the sub are not changing. They will be exactly the same as they were the last time everyone was able to post. However, we are also looking for feedback and suggestions as the sub moves into a new stage. What do you like about the sub, and what do you think could be done better?

Hey everyone,
r/aifails is growing FAST! We now have over 20,000 members and nearly 1 million monthly visits, but with that growth comes more spam and low-quality posts.

I have a chat going in which I put random numbers into it to see if they’re prime or not. And we got into emirps and palindromic primes a little bit. But then it kept checking if each number I put in was also an emirp. And now this. 391,931 reversed is… 391,931!

Was Googling the two Thomas Hart BentonS, the artist who lived from 1889-1975 and the U.S. Senator (not a very nice guy) who lived from 1782-1858 so I could tell the difference.
The Google AI Overview confidently said that the artist, 1889-1975, was the "namesake and great-uncle" of the U.S. Senator (1782-1858).
This isn't the first time I've found AI to be confidently WRONG, but the first time I was so mad I looked up a subreddit to post in.
A few weeks ago there was a terrible plane crash in Butler, MO where 11 skydivers plus the pilot died. One of the skydivers was a woman instructor, very respected, and AI Overview said the woman was PILOTING the plane. No, it was a man piloting the plane. This is a different text fail but that could give ammunition to the "women can't fly planes" crowd.
The pilot of that plane was reportedly very experienced and is not suspected of making any kind of error, but AI Overview nevertheless wrongly said the woman skydiver was piloting the plane. GRRRRR!

Boxes typically don’t come in these assortments of shapes, the lighting feels off, these boxes aren’t obeying physics, and something’s wrong with that “employee’s” wrist

Maybe not technically a fail since it did literally do what I asked
