I had all my zoids in a box at my parents house when I moved off to college. Now almost 15 years later I managed to finally bring them back home (I live across the country so it took awhile 😅)

Most of them were in pieces when I opened the box so I'm working on putting them all back together. I think there are 11 or 12 total.

Unfortunately the shield liger is the only one that got almost completely disassembled while rattling around in the box, so it will take a lot of time to figure out where the pieces go 😭

Was thinking of moving over to some flying zoids next, which one should I start with? HMM line preferred.

It has been an interesting 2 months. During that time, I have been slowly going through my backlog.

The past 2 months have had their share of challenges. Complications with buyers and sellers pushed back some upcoming items. Not a new thing. There were also economic factors affecting things for me, as that affects my final source of Zoids, after some communities and apps are no longer available to me. In the remaining communities, I have been working with people to figure it the economic factors. I have also been assisting administrators in dealing with the wave of crypto scammers that has been invading several communities over the past few months.

I might have let some people push me out of some communities, some think that I am quitting or have already quit, and some told me to balance things out, but I have chosen the balanced out option. The skills i have blessed with can be quite useful; and that is what has been keeping me going no matter the situation.

For some positive news now. At work, a lot of pre-orders. With all stress gone, productivity has massively increased. Projects have been slowly revived as I have been balancing out my hobbies. Unlike last time, where I burnt out from so much stress and projects at once, I have been managing things quite well now.

It is also interesting that the start of Phase 4 lines up with 11 months since I started, give or take a few days. The "workshop/junkyard" has reached maximum capacity at approximately 1,000 Zoids, with around 95% being junk ones obtained mostly from junk lots.

This is only the beginning. Customs and repairs were originally planned for February 2026, but kept being pushed back. Now, Phase 4 can finally begin, along with completely redesigned systems. Along with the moving forward of this hobby, other projects and hobbies are being revived.

Over 75% were imported after some sources I previously used were no longer available to me. At least 95% have or had some kind of issue with them. i recently bought supplies so I can start on some of these, so that most will become available to sell later on.

I only discovered the Blade Liger KS yesterday, and honestly… I think I may have found my new favourite Zoid. (Sorry Liger Zero, you held the throne for a long time 😂)

That colour scheme is an absolute BANGER. The black armour paired with those electric, iridescent blue accents gives it such a unique look.

The Blade Liger KS (Kei Spec or Kei Isurugi Specification), piloted by Major Kei Isurugi of the Helic Republic, was a specialised stealth variant designed for swift nighttime operations. Besides the different colour, it featured improved performance across the board. Its encounter with Barrett Gutter's Lightning Saix "BS" is one of those small pieces of Zoids lore that feels like it should have been expanded on more. I'd like to think it came out on top in that fight, but with the battle records lost we'll probably never know. This zoid is barely spoken about, I feel this Zoid has been overlooked and 100% slept on.

For such an badas5 design/concept, it feels almost forgotten. We have countless variations of popular Zoids receiving HMM kits, figures, re-releases, and merchandise, but the Blade Liger KS has never really received the attention it deserves which is a shame, because visually it has everything that makes a memorable Zoid (to me at least)

I need a HMM Blade Liger KS YESTERDAY. I'm genuinely surprised this Zoid flew under my radar for so long.

Anyone else a fan of the Blade Liger KS? Do you think it deserves more recognition, or are there other forgotten Zoids that deserve the spotlight more?

Looking to get a couple Liger Zero HMMs and saw that Japanzon had cheaper shipping compared to Amiami ($32 vs $120 USD for the shipping). How reliable and reputable is this site? Does the shipping cost include any duties and fees to the US? Are there any other sites that might be better to use for shopping for some HMMs?

Hello! First time poster here. I'm Maru, a hobbyist model kit reviewer. I have been building model kits since childhood, and I started publishing weekly model kit review on socials (on x and bluesky, same username as my reddit handle) since last month. Last week I posted a review of Kabtor and thought "hey, why not also post it on the subreddit too so that more people can read it?" So here it is. Beware that I needed to work around the word limit of socials so I try to make some edits to the paragraphs here.

I wasn't aware that Zoids has existed for over 40 years. Loved by countless people, this lively series releases new kits even today. Although I built the old kits from Tomy when I was a kid, after becoming an adult I have only built kits from Kotobukiya’s HMM Zoids line. Therefore, today’s rhino beetle type Zoids “Kabtor” feels both nostalgic and fresh to me. Despite not being one of the latest kits, I am a firm believer that “fun” itself does not age. And Kabtor certainly did not disappoint.

First Impressions:

I was shocked when I opened the box. There is no sprue! Similar to LEGO, the parts are packed into 3 bags. Likely cut from the sprues at factory, unfortunately, the gate marks on the parts are not clean.

Another surprise is that the manual is named “Book of Restoration 復元の書”. It seems that according to lore, the fossils of Zoids were excavated. Opening part bag is “excavation”, building is “restoration”, part list is “excavation survey”… The playfulness is overflowing and enjoyable. Despite being an adult, when I was reading the Book of Restoration I can’t help but smile throughout.

Features:

Despite having no sprues or build process being called restoration, “being able to walk” stays the same. Like the old Zoids kits, once finished building the kit can walk forward, driven by a spring. The horn also moves vertically during the walk. (Edit: Yeah, I understand that the recent Realize Model line cannot walk. I reserved talking about it because of the word limit)

Box Content:

3 packs of parts. Pack S contains spring unit, caps, painted eyes, figure and stickers; Pack A has the frame; and Pack B has the armor parts

According to package, main body is made of ABS and POM. Same as PS, ABS is often used to produce the usual parts of kits. POM is tough and hard to wear down so it is often used in joints and places where articulate. In this kit, it is likely the drive of the walking mechanism.

On the other hand, the green caps are made of SBS, which is not usually found in model kits. It has the properties of plastic and rubber and is often used to produce shoes and waterproof sheets. Finally, figure is made of MABS, which is transparent ABS.

Manual:

Very easy to understand. As the spring unit was built upon putting into the package, if the parts fall apart, the manual has indicated the steps to put them back. Very nice.

Build Quality and Design:

The kit took around 15 minutes to build. Very simple and easy build that anyone can do it. Length of the finished model is about 15cm. The weapon transformation during “Wild Burst” can also be done.

The first point to note is that the 6 legs do not touch the ground, instead only the pillar-shaped portion of 4 legs actually do. This is likely a deliberate design for the walk mechanism. In addition, “jet booster below and rear” is written in the mechanical reference text, but the mechanics required are not reflected on the kit. Only the spring can be found down below.

Playability:

As mentioned multiple times, the playability lies on the walk mechanism. Place it onto the desk, turn the spring and watch it moving forward is a nice way to relieve stress.

Final Words:

While the kit does deviate from the original mechanical design, I think that it is a necessary sacrifice in exchange for the playability. Meanwhile, the immersion created by the lore and easiness to build are all contributing to a great design for children and other users to have fun. I have not touched a walking Zoids for over 20 years, and this renewed experience was very enjoyable.
