Technology YSK: DeFlock does not require any verification or photos, and the majority of locations I have checked near me do not actually have flock cameras where marked

In my little section of the US, the locations on the map are spot on... About 8 cameras within a mile of me

I live in a town of 500 people and there are 4 cameras monitoring traffic at all the main roads. Feels very Minority Report.

As much as I could believe that (because I can't be certain that this is NOT happening...), I couldn't find any source (credible or not) that even hits at that. The other guy is talking out of their arse until they post a source. We already have to deal with shot, friendly fire in the firm of misinformation is only doing further harm.

This is a coordinated attempt by flock to fight deflock. I have now seen these comments on multiple subreddits.

Flock is everywhere, including cameras they didn't install. They buy feeds from other cameras to feed their AI tracking systems.

I was just noticing this yesterday! I live in a major city and I saw a flock camera on my way home, checked deflock for it and it wasn't marked, and there were no cameras in that area where they are marked

There are multiple flock devices, not just cameras, and multiple styles of cameras. It may not be as obvious as a camera with a solar panel. Their gunshot sensor looks just like a black cylinder.

Can anyone fill me in on why this is just now gaining so much popularity when Flock cams have been around for years? And why is it only Flock? There are dozens/hundreds of ALPR platforms in existence. Hell, some businesses have them mounted to their buildings. Some home security platforms have ALPR capability now too.

I don't really understand the "tracking" part either. How is is any different from your cell phone provider knowing exactly where you are? Also, if these are being used by law enforcement, a search warrant would provide way more info than a camera system would provide. Phone records, navigation data from your car, nearby business camera NVR's, social media apps, credit card companies, etc are all tracking you and have way more detailed information than simply passing by a camera with a bluetooth connection.

They weren't as known then. It started with license plate readers but is now moving to actual tracking cameras that has people on edge about blatant state surveillance. The ball of awareness has slowly rolled forward for society at large to realize what's happening. This is a small fight against the larger "surveillance" the government can run through other means of communication and personal electronics.

For deflocks answer to that

Basically most people don't pay attention to things like that and when the right person noticed he started tracking them

As more people found out it spread the word faster until several social media posts gained traction in their algorithms which spread the information a lot farther

Flock is the most known and the easiest target given how big their network is

A lot of the other networks aren't as big or as well known as flock so they get less coverage and many of them are just lumped in with flock

Also doesn't help that the flock CEO made some rather stupid comments

Because Flock Cameras are easily abusable. Several police officers have been caught using the flock camera system to stalk individuals more easily than ever, even a case where some police officers were using it to watch underage gymnastics practice.

Several of the tech you mentioned are things people explicitly aggree to, in order to use said services. No ome aggreed to have predatory recording of them in order to build a public surveillance network. Thats the difference.
