Food & Drink YSK: If you're baking and something goes wrong, there's a baking hotline you can call for advice
Why ysk: When recipes are unclear, baking goes unexpectedly, or you need help with a baking related situation, it can be overwhelming and confusing but calling +1(855) 371-2253 will connect you with a real person to listen to your baking catastrophe and give you advice.
Here is a link to their website page: https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/bakers-hotline A woman on the line helped me save my bread.

King Arthur also has a useful ingredient weight chart.

For a second, I thought you were talking about the King Arthur of the Knights of the Round Table. I didn’t realize that it was a brand. 💀
I’m not proud of myself either.

well, he probably had a baker, although I don't think they measured ingredients all that precisely back then

True! Now I’m gonna go on a deep dive on King Arthur and how they baked back then. I’m incredibly curious now

Well now you know! And you got a taste of how awesome they are!

Thank you! This was a journey of “You Should Know” for me that went all the way down to ancient milling techniques!

Wow a real YSK, thank you for sharing. I have spent a ton of time on the king arthur baking website and had no idea about the hotline

Of course!! And yeah, I only discovered it because I asked Google how to save bread I was messing up and it linked the hotline, I was kinda shocked it worked but hey, the more you know!!

If this were actually someone’s number, this would be such a baffling and evil prank - they all the sudden start getting random calls where people jump in with “my scones are too chewy!! Where did I go wrong?!?!”

If the mods weren't so strict I'd edit the post with my ex's number as a joke because this is brilliant lol

Still sad they don't sell their super high protein flour anymore to normal customers. I don't need a 50lbs bag.

I believe this is the consumer marketed version of Sir Lancelot: https://shop.kingarthurbaking.com/items/high-gluten-flour

They charge $12 for 3lbs.
Their lower protein is $12 for 10lbs.
Seems like a little too much.

I agree with you, and I had the same thought. However, you can buy it in less than 50 lb. bags.
Speaking of, how much does a 50 lb. bag cost, compared to a 50 lb. bag of Sir Galahad (their regular, AP flour)?

Galahad is more expensive vs Lancelot.
Galahad (11.7%): https://www.webstaurantstore.com/king-arthur-flour-sir-galahad-50-lb-artisan-flour/104NFL5110S.html
Lancelot (14.0%): https://www.webstaurantstore.com/king-arthur-flour-sir-lancelot-50-lb-hi-gluten-flour/104NFL5100S.html

Thanks for the info. Those prices are crazily low! I didn't know webrestaurantstore even sold food. I thought they were just hardware.
That said, I don't understand why King Arthur is so reluctant to sell the higher protein flour to consumers...

Is this a global bakeline or just For NA?!

Unfortunately it's just for North America, a +1 at the beginning of a number means it's a North American number

I love the king Arthur baking site. Didn't know about this part, but the recipes are great. So is the flour.

They’ve run this as a Reddit ad with the comments open before and it’s one of a seldom few that aren’t spammed with ASCII penises because it’s actually useful.

I was today years old when I realized there’s a baking disaster hotline for “Worst Cooks in America” style bakers.

Thanks for the worthless post. /r/USDefaultism
Next time try mentioning some other continents and countries' equivalents, but ofc in ur brain only americans exist

It's astonishing how mad someone can be over not receiving a baking hotline number for their country. Most redditors are north american. What helps the majority is better to post than what helps the minority, especially when it's something as unserious and a BAKING HOTLINE.

I'd love to know how many people use the 'topic' flairs for navigation or filtering on this sub, as I suspect the number is very small. Much more helpful imo would be to switch to geographical flairs - 'Global', 'Europe', 'USA' etc - so those of us with the temerity to live outside the US can happily ignore anything that doesn't apply.

Do they increase staffing for Thanksgiving?
Please say yes.
