Every story begins with an idea, but ROSE the REJECTED began with a dream.

Ever since I was a little girl, I've loved creating stories. I never thought I'd become a published novelist. I wrote stories simply because I loved getting lost in the worlds I imagined. They were places where anything was possible, and I could dream without limits.

As I grew older, those stories grew with me. In many ways, I'm a lot like Rose. I know what it feels like to question where you belong, to feel overlooked, and to keep searching for hope even when life feels impossible.

Those same emotions also inspired my debut song, Still I Bloom. While the song and the novel tell different stories, they share the same message: no matter how many times life knocks you down, you can still rise... you can still bloom.

That's why I wrote ROSE the REJECTED. I wanted to write a story about healing, courage, mystery, dreams, found family, second chances, and discovering that being rejected doesn't mean you're unworthy. Sometimes it simply means your story is only just beginning.

My hope is that when readers finish Rose's journey, they close the book believing that even in their darkest moments, there is still light waiting to find them.

About me:

I always day dreamed and came up with stories but never thought to put them on paper until I kind of hit rock bottom in my personal life and needed a distraction. I thought why not, and started writing, having fun with and here we are a little over a year or so later.

I hadn't planned to publish from the start but my partner was my beta reader and thought this was worth putting out there. I have written published several books over the past fifteen years, but I have always been very careful to keep all my characters mostly fictional (aside from the bit of my personality or thoughts that inevitably gets added in at times). However, my latest book (the first one I have been able to finish for five years after a long bout with writer's block, btw), includes a character that is based on my grandmother who died two years ago. Writing her into the book helped me to deal with her loss, but I was not expecting that to make it so hard for me to market the book afterwards! It made me feel very shy about sharing it, which has never happened with my previous books. Even though that is just one part of a larger story, it felt like I was inviting people to read my diary.

Whether you're a man or a woman, by now you've probably noticed that most advice about love teaches you to protect yourself! Give less, match their effort, never text first. We usually forget that the meaning behind "loving" someone is to give with no strings attached. And there's no better example to look at in this than the sun.

I wrote a book showing exactly this: what love looks like when it stops keeping score. It looks at love from the perspective of the sun itself, and then projects that onto what loving that way means in a human life. It's a short book that you can finish fairly quickly, but — hopefully — it's the kind of book that stays with you long after you've closed it.
