The Phoenix Ledger is a dystopian sci-fi thriller set roughly 150 years after AI led to the collapse of modern civilization as we know it. The world has been rebuilt based on rejection of compute-based technology and a different system of exploitation has taken the place of computers: Enhancement, the use of donor minds to extend the limits of human cognition.

The novel is the story of a female donor, who wakes up after six years with no name, no memories, and both her former host's killers and kin looking for her. She travels through a salvaged, half-ruined heartland toward a reckoning she never chose in an attempt to piece together who she was and why she became a donor in the first place, while a political assassination marches towards its deadly culmination.

The book is commentary on the fragility of systems built on exploitation and how these systems inherently make good choices impossible. My beta readers have commented that the book feels like The Matrix and Altered Carbon put in a blender with a literary layer on top.
