How to improve my desk

I work from my bedroom, so my desk is basically my office during the day. But after work, I still use the same space to watch shows, scroll, or play games.

The problem is, even when I close my laptop, the room still feels like work mode.

After you finish work, do you change anything about your desk or room setup, or do you just leave it as is?

I’m curious what actually helps make the space feel like home again.

Finally finished my workspace in my first apartment and I’m really happy with how it turned out.
I wanted to create a clean, cozy, and functional setup without filling the space with RGB or too many accessories. Since I live in a small apartment, every inch counts, so I tried to keep everything organized while adding some plants and wall decor to make it feel more welcoming.
I’m still open to suggestions, but I think it’s finally at a point where I can call it finished. Thanks for checking it out!

Current Setup:

• Dual monitor configuration Benq GW2490 with laptop display turned off & lid half closed, using its keyboard only.
• budget RGB gaming mouse

Areas where I need recommendations:

1. Monitor arrangement - Is the dual monitor setupd optimal rn OR should i change it to use a Monitor Arm for left monitor?
2. Lighting - The room appears quite dark. Should I add bias lighting or desk lamps?
3. Ergonomics - Any suggestions for improving posture during long coding sessions?
4. Additional peripherals that would benefit an engineer doing work & interview prep?

I don’t like having a door to my back, desk was originally on wall 3, moved it to the middle to see and I like facing out a lot more, but also like looking out the window.

Issue is with the current layout the room is congested with my desk.

Should I keep my desk as is, or should I move it to the wall with my white board and add some seating and a small tv back against wall 3 and 4.

Open to any and all feedback. (yes my office gets messy, i may need a workbench to separate hand work versus computer work.)

Ft. my Maruader, Pi, Nova, HDD, Thinkpad, Nixie clock, and growing collection of autographed hats. Wire control could be better.

I may be a monitor hoarder. A perk is getting to reuse old tech when someone upgrades or leaves.

ignore the box on the floor lol, but sitting in this for extended periods has been a game changer. the hbada lower back adjustment actually holds up super well

Here's a little desktop setup I put together. Do you guys see anything that could be improved?

I just got a new cubicle what should I add here so it doesn’t seem to open, but also not too bulky!

The Husky cabinets and table had to come inside but have been a nice IT job furniture addition. One cabinet hides the printer, two computers, hard drive, chargers etc.

I’m trying to improve my desk lighting, but I keep running into the same problem.

I like having some ambient light because it makes my workspace feel nicer, but I also need enough light to actually work. At the same time, I don’t want to buy a bunch of different lights or make my desk feel cluttered.

So I’m curious, what’s the most annoying trade-off in your desk lighting setup?

Too bright vs. not bright enough?
Good task lighting vs. lighting up the whole room?
Better lighting setup vs. more desk clutter?
Or something else?

Hello! First time posting here, I love seeing all of you guys' workspaces and thought I'd share mine as well~

It took a while to put together all the pieces, but now after about 7 months, I can finally say I feel comfortable with this setup! Though I should probably get a new LED strip...

What I am looking for:

• Adjustable height: can be manual, since I will just select a height that works for me and leave it fixed at that

• At least 30 inches deep and 70 inches wide

• I can attach a monitor arm (haven’t purchased either monitor or arm yet, looking at Ergotron)

• Durable

• Stable

• Budget: an Uplift in the spec I would want is about 1.3K. Unless I can find something more than a few hundred cheaper, I would just get Uplift since I can afford it, but don’t need the motorized stand

Standing desks from Uplift and other brands satisfy all but are overkill for what I need.

Uplift also sells a non-standing desk but I don’t think that the height can be adjusted at all: seated-height-2-leg-side-table-by-uplift-desk

Many people suggest workbenches from Husky, which have all my requirements except for being only 24 inches deep, which is a deal-breaker.

Ikea has a Mitzon desk which I have seen recommended, but might not be very durable or stable.

Many people recommend Ikea Alex drawers with a countertop or butcher block from Home Depot. I unfortunately don’t have tools or a space to put this together. I also am not very handy and I don’t want to spend a bunch of time failing to put this together (although this is undoubtedly a useful skill and probably super easy for someone who is just ok at building, I don’t have a lot of free time due to work)

Should I just get Uplift? Thanks to anyone with constructive advice and/or recommendations!
