Drunken action of Ciri

In all three games there come moment when Geralt and his friends drunk too much alcohol and do some crazy, stupid and funny stuffs. In Witcher 1 there was discussion with Jaskier and Zoltan. In Witcher 2 Geralt drunk with Blue Stripes and make copy of Kac Vegas. In Witcher 3 there was famous drinking game in Kaer morhen and dressing up in Yennefer dresses.

I hope in Witcher 4 Ciri will continue this tradition and get some quest involved drinking, philosophy discussion and foolish action. Do you have any ideas or wishes what kind of events would involve such Ciri crazy party?

A "Cave of Dreams" like quest

In "The Cave of Dreams" quest from the Witcher 3, Geralt is helping blueboy Lugos and his friends conquer their nightmares during an implied drug trip. In the end you face off Geralts Greatest fear, which is Eredin and the Wild hunt.

I think a quest like that would be perfect for Ciri in the Witcher 4 because her story offers many Great enemies to choose from. Imagine a great battle against the crones or Imlerith, or maybe even better, some Book characters like Vilgevoortz of Rogeeven or Leo Bonhart. It would be the perfect opportunity to have Ciri face off against villains that cannot otherwise be in the story.

What do you guys think ?

Count Beledal - one of the most sympathetic characters in Blood and Wine, and inventor of Duck face - lives in Kovir; it would be nice if we could meet him again (and maybe his daughter, Clarissa).

Ex-Ubisoft Environment Artist, now working on Witcher 4, speaks about CDPR: "It's a big company, but not as massive as Ubisoft. It's the right balance—you can talk to everyone, the managers are very approachable... And it's great to collaborate with so many people who are true experts"

The true number of Witcher devs working at CDPR

Thumbnail

I went through the entire credits of The Witcher 1/2/3 + Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine to check how many are still with CDPR. Why? Because we all know how much misinformation is being spread by outrage merchants on YouTube and Twitter.

So, here's the truth. 115 developers currently with CDPR worked on The Witcher series before. 13 were or became leads/directors while working on the trilogy already, and 21 became leads while working on Cyberpunk and Phantom Liberty. 49 got promoted to senior and expert roles as well. That's excluding the many devs from Cyberpunk and Phantom Liberty (of which almost everyone stayed).

Conclusion:

CDPR has more seniors and experts than ever before, and The Witcher 4 is led almost exclusively by veterans of The Witcher IP. We've seen a bunch of other high-profile devs from Santa Monica Studios, Larian, Warhorse, Sandfall Interactive, and others join CDPR as well, so despite some important people leaving, I believe this is their strongest and most tenured team yet. Phantom Liberty already showed what they could do, and this team has only gotten stronger. Witcher 4 can't come soon enough, and Songs of the Past is being showcased next month already. Good times are ahead.

Info on how to read the graph:

Green - Leads/Directors

Yellow - not directly involved in game development anymore

Purple – Senior/expert positions

At least 5 ex-Witcher 3 developers have rejoined CDPR since the release of Phantom Liberty to work on The Witcher 4. Feels like everyone is coming home.

What do you guys think about whether they'll finally let us see Dol Blathann and Zerrikania in at least one of the game of the new trilogy?

I actually think that one of the big plots will be that Francesca Findabair will go to war against the northern kingdoms and Nilfgaard; it's about time for her to appear. I think it's like everything has always led to this war, or if they're completely fine there, and don't want any wars (which I doubt very much), then they could show us how everything is in Dol Blathann. Iorveth, and the other familiar faces can be there also.

And Zerkania is completely unexplored also, neither by Sapkowski nor by CD Projekt. We know that there are great alchemists, it's hot there, their religion is the cult of divine dragons I guess, there is a school of Witchers, basilisk if I'm not mistaken, and people who live there have darker skin tones. It's like it was made for Ciri's story - two gigantic regions that have never been explored in the books and in the games, all canon, they can make millions of stories there.

Kovir is cool, but it's one of the northern kingdoms; I want to see how it looks too, but I'm mostly interested in the stories there, not how it looks - it's the north again, cool, but nothing new really. With Zerkania and Dol Blathann it's something completely different from anything we ever saw before, and something that has never been touched and what has always been there.

Kovir Speculation

Will the ending of TW3 affect the political state of Kovir in 4? Given Geralt decides the fate of the North between Dijkstra's reign and a Nilfgaardian victory, I wonder if we see tensions increasing between Nilfgaard and/or Djikstra's Redania and Kovir. Imagine if we got to see the mages building a large presence in Kovir, backing them in a standoff against the rest of the continent. Could be pretty interesting idk.

When pre-order day comes, I hope CDPR takes notes from GTA6's community

This is a quote from a fan:

"What I'm NOT okay with is them selling a "physical edition" without a disc and locking elements of the GTA experience behind an Ultimate Edition paywall.

This is very much a $100 digital-only game, Take-Two are using GTA's popularity and huge development costs to normalize selling the full experience at this price, making the $80 standard edition seem incomplete."

Please, CDPR, do not do this for The Witcher 4. Don't do anything that will negatively charge your community before it even releases.

  1. Put an actual disc in the physical version of the game

  2. Don't lock customization shops or other core features behind paywalls.

The Witcher 4 at Gamescom?

We know that the Witcher 3 expansion is 100% confirmed, but how likely you guys think we'll also get a sneak peak at the Witcher 4? It's been a year since we've got that demo and I'd be surprised if we have to wait till TGA for an update on the game.

How CDPR can easily fix the "Female Witcher" lore problem in Project Sirius (Hear me out)

TL;DR: Set Project Sirius in the ancient fortress of Morgraig (the original Order of Witchers) centuries before Geralt. This perfectly justifies co-op gameplay, allows female witcher customization through mutagenic trial-and-error, and preserves the lore of Kaer Morhen without making Vesemir or Geralt look like they "forgot" history.

Hi everyone,

Like many of you, I’m incredibly hyped for Project Sirius. However, one of the biggest debates in the community regarding full character customization is how the game will handle lore consistency—specifically, the inclusion of female Witchers.

We know that canonically, the Trial of the Grasses was designed for male biology, and Vesemir/Geralt stated that female Witchers never existed in Kaer Morhen. Instead of using a lazy "corporate plot armor" that breaks the established lore, I believe there is a brilliant, lore-friendly narrative framework that solves every issue perfectly.

  1. The Solution: The Ancient Fortress of Morgraig

Instead of setting the game anywhere near the current timeline, Project Sirius should take place centuries in the past, during the era of Morgraig—the original fortress where the very first Order of Witcher candidates was gathered and tested by mages like Alzur.By setting the game in Morgraig, multiplayer and female Witchers make absolute sense:

  1. The Co-op Justification: In the original Order, Witchers didn't act as isolated lone wolves. They operated as a unified military-like brotherhood, sent in squads to clear massive monster infestations. They were literally born to fight together. The Female Witchers Justification: In this early era, mages were actively altering the mutagenic formulas in real-time. It is completely plausible that they attempted to mutate women during this trial-and-error phase before finding out it was too lethal for future generations.Preserving Geralt’s Lore: Since Morgraig fell and the original Order dissolved centuries before Geralt and Vesemir were even born, these early female Witchers would have died out long ago. When the Wolf School later established Kaer Morhen with rigid rules, the records of these early experiments were lost. Geralt and Vesemir wouldn't be "forgetful"—they genuinely wouldn't know.Progression Mechanics: The "Future Founders" as Mentors

A potential downside of Morgraig is that we would lose the identity of the classic Witcher Schools (Wolf, Cat, Griffin, Bear, Viper, Manticore), since they didn't exist yet. However, we can turn this into a brilliant RPG progression and faction mechanic.Inside Morgraig, the NPCs should include the original legendary Witchers who would eventually break away and found the separate schools. As a player, you choose one of these future founders as your personal Mentor to unlock specific playstyles and philosophies:

• The Future Wolf Mentor: Focuses your character into a classic balance of swordplay, alchemy, and a strict code of honor. The Future Cat Founder: Unlocks an agile, acrobatic playstyle, stealth mechanics, and lighter weaponry. The Future Griffin Founder (Erland of Larvik): Deeply focuses your build on advanced Sign casting and magical strategy. The Future Bear Founder (Arnaghad): Allying with Arnaghad means joining the dissident, brutal faction within Morgraig before their violent split. He turns your character into a heavy-armor frontline tank, prioritizing strength and coin over moral rules.Ivar Evil-Eye (The Future Viper Founder): Introduces a lethal assassin build, specializing in dual-wielding short blades, stealth, and deadly poisons, right before his obsession with the Wild Hunt leads him to found the Viper School. The Zerrikanian Alchemists (The Future Manticore Lineage): Learning from eastern research emphasizes extreme alchemy, advanced toxicity resistance, and unique bomb crafting (which also ties nicely into early mutagenic experiments for female candidates). Conclusion

With this system, players wouldn't select a "School" from a generic menu. Instead, they would select a philosophy and lineage through their mentor. Your medallion would still be the classic circular shape of Morgraig, but with custom engravings reflecting your mentor's style.

This approach gives players the complete freedom of character customization that a modern multiplayer game needs, justifies the cooperative gameplay, and—most importantly—deeply respects the established lore of the universe we all love.

What do you guys think? Would you play a game set in the Morgraig era?

CDPR about the transition from REDengine to UE5: "The rationale was we wanted to be able to tell more stories without worrying about the foundation of the engine itself. Epic [gave] us that backbone, and we can still build around that and differentiate ourselves."

Post image

Source.

Whatever comes next will come with the support of Epic Games, with CDPR making the switch from its proprietary tech to Unreal Engine 5 for The Witcher 4. The original Witcher ran on a modified version of BioWare's Aurora Engine, which Nowakowski says "was not a great fit to make the kind of RPGs we wanted to make." That led CDPR to create Red Engine, which it used up to Cyberpunk 2077.

"A lot of people don't realise that, even though the Red Engines had numbers, they were not exactly built on the shoulders of the previous one. Realistically, because all of those games were pretty different, we were building a new engine almost from scratch for every single game, which was very time consuming."

This mammoth task cut into the team's output. "Hiring was difficult. Onboarding for Red Engine was six to nine months, which is crazy," Nowakowski continued. "And there were no Red Engine experts out there. It just didn't exist, because it was a proprietary engine."

"Epic [allowed] us to go into the black box of Unreal Engine – I think we're the only company right now that actually does that outside of Epic themselves – and fiddle with [it], so [we] would actually be co-building one of the biggest techs out there. The rationale was we wanted to be able to tell more stories without worrying about the foundation of the engine itself. Epic [gave] us that backbone, and we can still build around that and differentiate ourselves."

CDPR boss hopes The Witcher 4 wins back fans still put off by Cyberpunk 2077's disastrous launch: "I'm not 100 percent convinced we went through the full redemption arc"

> "I'm not 100 percent convinced we went through the full redemption arc," he explains. "I'm convinced that we lost the faith of some people indefinitely, and that's a fair thing. But I do hope we will be able to make it back – if not with The Witcher 4, then with whatever comes next."

How will they handle the potion aspect in Ciri in TW4??

One thing that worries me is how they’re going to handle the issue of potions in The Witcher 4, both narratively and in terms of gameplay. We know that Ciri wasn’t subjected to the trial of the grasses, which in theory makes you tolerant to potions – so how are they going to handle this? Are they going to say that, because of her magical powers, she can tolerate them too? That would seem very contrived to me. I’d also find it very disappointing if potions were to lose their significance. I don’t know how they’re going to handle it.

School of lynx

On X, I saw a interview by Witcher 4 game director where he said the chain ciri uses is utility tool and comes from a school. Which means ciri is probably trained early in the game by this school which is lynx. That really got me intrigued, maybe we see new witchers there and that school is probably somewhere in a snowy area and in hiding. That be really cool.

I think it'd be awesome to play as Ciri and Garelt in Witcher 4.

I think it'd be cool if we could switch between Garelt and Ciri in Witcher 4. She'd be fast and have a knife attached to a rope and lots of quick attack and he'd be more heavy hitting, have a long bow and attack slower. They'd also have differnt equipment, builds, horses and they'd both use witcher signs differently. I think it'd be awesome but it's probably not gonna happen.
