After having to sell off most of my old collection I found a used Wilson Combat for under 1500 which appears to have a pretty low round count. Feels good to have one back and I do truly appreciate the differences these have vs more traditional 1911s like the slide stop and their finish which may not be the most impressive looking but functionally has been one of the best finishes I’ve had on a gun. This one’s a Bull Barrel and what I think they call the shock buffer on it? Never had a 1911 that wasn’t the normal bushing but feels good to have one back :) The bobtail is one of my favorite 1911 features that seems rare to find these days. Pretty sure by the bag and grip emblem it’s a bit older than my previous 1911 but I’ve heard some owners debate that some of the older offerings were better than modern ones but likely just the folk that say things were better back in my day lol

I got rid of all my guns a few years ago — made a small fortune. I sold an M1, a Colt AR15 with a 1/9 twist and a Leica scope, nine 1911s (Colt, Kimber, Sig), and a few Glocks. The only guns I kept were my blued CQB and my blued full-sized, both Wilsons.

Looks like we SFX9/EDCX9 owners have an option again with what is IMO the gold standard in Kydex holsters.

I recently purchased a WCA protector 11.3” AR pistol and was very impressed with its performance. It got me wondering about Wilson sidearms and I love the look of the Division 77 project 1 but don’t want to pay that price until I familiarize myself with some of their cheaper options. Is the edc x9l a good place to begin? Is it worth its own hefty price?

Miserable hot humid day at the range. Yet I left with a smile, a tired sweaty smile, but a smile nonetheless. This thing is awesome! Running 75 grain frontier suppressed I was blown away. I have finally found a 5.56 that doesn’t let me down. My Sig spear and LWRC never produced the results I expected from rifles that cost as much as they do. This beauty shoots as good as it looks and it feels very well made. So far it’s the only rifle I’ve ever fired that competes with HK. That includes the above two plus LMT and DD which I have a lot of hands on with. Can’t believe I got this baby used but never fired. Can’t wait to get more rounds down range with her!

Picked this up from my local ffl yesterday at the suggestion of the owner. It’s my first Wilson Combat firearm and he highly recommended it to me. It has never been fired and I k ow this is true because the previous owner was in the store and confirmed it so. I paid 1200 for it and from the serial number have discovered it is the Protector series 11.3 inch pistol. Did I get a great deal? Also the owner has several WCA products and describes the company as the American HK. He claims their quality control and rigorous standards and barrel steel compare favorably to HK. I have several HK products and knowing their quality I was excited about this. So my second question is does the community agree with the comparison to HK.

I have an opportunity to trade for a Wilson Combat Spec Ops 9 for quite cheap but I am concerned with it being discontinued that I might not be able to get much support and upon a quick search it looked like finding magazines could be a very difficult task as well. Anyone own one or have any insight on the Spec Ops?

Bulwark needed some bling. The Bulwark bushings are normal 1911, but the screws are for slim grips. Wicked doesn’t make slim jeweled screws. I made a jig a while back for some slim grip screws and just filed 3 threads off. I like it and so far it’s one of a kind and mine.

Can't get much more 'Murica then going to the range on the 4th. New Bulwork:

100% reliability with 200rnd of range ammo (Fiocchi 115g) and 50rnds of Federal 124g HST, some assorted old carry stuff I had. It ate everything without any issues.

It's more accurate than most shooters as expected. I didn't notice any issue with the grip safety, or trigger safety. Perceived recoil feels sharper than the SFT9 for reference. Ergos on the SFT9 are also better, and that's likley due it being a single piece of aluminum vs using grip panels, which adds some width. I have medium/smallish hands. It didn't interfere with shooting, just an observation. Sites are great as expected, your eye gets right on the front site between shots.

The grip texture is very aggressive and the gun is locked into your palms as it should be. My hands are a bit sore after, but that's because they have gotten soft and wimpy due to lack of range time and that's on me. A SD/Duty pistol should be as secure as possible in your hands, and better to get hands conditioned for it vs adding some wrap or what ever. Sweat, rain, blood, etc can make a pistol hard to control under less then ideal circumstances and the grip texture will make the difference there.

This pistol feelz and looks like hard use uber reliable durable run-lubed-or-not machine, vs a focus on accuracy per se, looks, or competition. It's a Gucci Glock really. That's not a bad thing, it's a smart thing to offer by Wilson and I'm thrilled to see they have taken a full step away from their 1911 roots to embrace something befitting a truly modern fighting pistol that incorporates the best of modern fighting pistols yet retains what Wilson is so well known for, peerless quality and engineering.

Only thing I personally think would make this an even better pistol would be to utilize that single piece frame as used with the SFT/SFX pistols. I'd be curious to know why they didn't.

Finally, I had thought/hoped they used the same mags as the SFT/SFX pistols, but they don't. I think they really should have. Maybe a legit design/engineering reason they didn't, or way to force people to purchase more price priority (granted, very well made and durable) magazines...

PS, OMG ammo is expensive these days! Man, so glad I did most of my shooting when ammo prices were sane and cost of the day at the range was not a factor how long you would stay and rounds used.

Does anyone here have one with a Streamlight TLR7 HLX mounted & would be able to share a picture?

Also, I’m looking for suggestions on AIWB holsters, specifically light bearing holsters for the HLX.

Bought my Wilson Combat EDC X9 2.0 (3.25”) back in March and wanted a Tenicor Certum, but it had just been discontinued. I ended up with a Precision Holsters AIWB. It worked, but the footprint was wider than I liked and just wasn’t that comfortable.

Then Tenicor’s blem sale happened, and I managed to snag a Certum. After a few days of carrying it, it’s a night-and-day difference. It’s slimmer, more comfortable, and conceals better. Definitely worth the wait.

Anyone else carrying an EDC X9 2.0? What AIWB holster are you running?

Hey all. I've been drooling over a Wilson Combat gun for years now. I'm finally at a place where I can comfortably afford one. I would love to get something intended to be passed down to my sons. Mostly a showpiece, but will certainly be shot. I want something truly special. I'm sure there are others out there that have done this. EDITED TO ADD UPDATE

Picked it up today through my FFL from Gary’s Guns. Finding stock was hard to do, and I paid MSRP, but no tax (still a win). I’ll take it to the range this weekend and report back with my opinions. So far the stories of the trigger ring true, crisp and short! The weight is nice, way better balanced than a Glock, but not like a steel framed 1911/2011, more like a CZ.

In the bag, there was the pistol, the optic mounting kit, another 1” long pin (not sure what it’s for), a Wilson cleaning rag, a bottle of Wilson Lite-Oil, and (2) 15 rounds magazines. No manual, no sticker, no patch, no test target. For $2k I was kind of surprised by that, expecting at least the manual and test target. It’s obvious a round was fired the mag that was inserted had a little funk on it, unless it’s just grease.

I might reach out to Wilson to make sure nothing else was supposed to be in there.

If it shoots as well as it’s supposed to, I may put my C2 away and make this my daily carry.

EDIT - RANGE REVIEW

So I attempted to take a video, but the camera wasn’t working. Shot 350 rounds of 124g S&B and 50 rounds of 124 Speer Gold Dot through it. The grip is pretty thin while shooting. In hand before firing it feels good, maybe it’s because of my big hands but support hand is awkward to place. I had a gas pedal on a TLR7 Sub on a Kimber CDS9, moved it over and it helped. The recoil is fine. Not a snappy shoot at all, way less than a Glock 19. Doesn’t shoot as well as my Archon Type B, shoots more like my CZ P10C, it’s strange not what you’re expecting, not bad just strange, it could benefit from ports. Grouped well, @ 15yds I was able to delete the center on an MOA target, with 1 second splits. Groups like a Glock. The grip safety wasn’t a bother at all, I’ve heard others have had complaints, including Pew View, again maybe because of the hands, but after 350 rounds I was good and could have kept going. The trigger is awesome (until I cleaned it, see below)! Super short reset, and a light pull out of the box.

The bad comes with cleaning: It’s pretty easy to field strip. The barrel and locking block are held together with the slide and frame, when you take it apart have a rag and do it like Bill Wilson’s video, or your hands will be covered in shit. I cleaned it, sprayed it down with Eezox, gave it a wipe down, racked the slide, dry fired, and the trigger stuck back. I took it to the garage and used an air gun on the trigger area and the bow, it was sticking, but that fixed it. It’s almost like the trigger bow spring needs to be tightened a bit. I may call them tomorrow and get some advice and permission to add a little more tension.

Would I buy it again? Yes, but see below.

Will it be in my EDC rotation? Yes.

Would I recommend it? Maybe, but not as a first gun and only if someone said they had a couple grand to toss at something different and cool (and they already had an Archon).

Is it worth $1900? Not IMO, $1500 would be my mark if I had shot one before. It should come with 2 more magazines, especially since they are proprietary (and at least a sticker!).

I brought my LTT 92 compact with me and it’s WAY more pleasant for less money.

I have had this rifle on my list for a while. Due to the upcoming law changes in Colorado it becamea priority. Recon 5.56

I would like to add some grippy-ness to my SFX9, but a step above hockey tape. Anybody know of any sandpaper style or rubberized grip panels available?

Just got this beauty, shoots like a dream and want to EDC carry it. Looking for any help on holster recommendations, mainly carry appendix. I’m thinking leather is the way to go on this but not completely sure. Thanks guys!

My first two WC’s; wasn’t sure what to expect but they are more impressive than I anticipated.

I bought the SFT9 w/ rail option yesterday. I put 200 rounds through it this morning and I am NOT disappointed!

It seems to fit decent in my Staccato C2 holster, but I would like something purpose built. Anyone have a holster for this gun with a rail and without a light? Seems to be uncommon.

Are the SFT and SFX holsters interchangeable?

Any mag pouch suggestions? The mags are too small for the Staccato and Glock pouches I already own. Do these have the same footprint as any other mag tube?

I ordered a mag release for my springfield 1911, I recieved the part defective, it is missing the checkering on the button.

What disturbs me is the discription of the part says its CNC machined from billet tool steel. Where the checkering is supposed to be looks a lot like the dimple of a metal injected mold part. Is this actually a MIM part and are the hiding the fact under the checkering?
