New Wolf Here!

Hi guys, I'm an American (I know, I know) who's just getting into UK football. I got introduced into the sport because of my friends and the World Cup. I followed the Mexican team after South Korea got humiliated (I'm South Korean) and figured why not continue watching Raul Jimenez play? So I'm new around here.

What are some things I should know? I know the team got relegated, so that sucks. But talk to me about culture. What are the chants? What are the rivalries? Who are the star players? ( And how can I watch for free in the US)...

Rumour Tolu’s refusal to train

Tolu motionless in the middle of the pitch you say?

Apparently Andre fed the ball into him multiple times but Tolu getting dispossessed as the ball bounced off his backside didn’t arouse any suspicion.

It was only after he went a whole two sessions without starting on a teenage member of the squad that a senior player went over to check on him.

Couldn’t finish his dinner.

Becoming a fan

I am American living in the Los Angeles area. I have been a neutral fan of European football for many years, following mainly the Premier League and top clubs across the continent. I develop rooting interests of course based on players or managers that I like, but I’ve never been an emotionally partisan “fan” / “supporter” of any particular club side.

I want to get in on a club … but MLS is a very difficult league to enjoy, for many reasons. For some reason I am drawn to Wolves. Perhaps the amazing crest. My main fear is to be seen as a poser or phony. English clubs seem to have such strong local connection and history… I feel a bit inauthentic claiming to be a supporter. Like proper local fans would be dismissive or something.

Any thoughts on this?

Discussion prime raul jimenez

i hope you guys cherish him as much as us mexicans do. he was outstanding, one of the greatest mexicans player ive seen in my lifetime. honestly probably tied between him and javier hernandez (chicharito).

It's just so rare to see a mexican play at the level he did back in 2019-20. He was in genuine top 5 strikers in the prem conversations. That's just nuts man. Rewatching videos from back then, I'm just thankful he played for wolves out of any team. The entire crowd chanting for him is something that warms my heart. Made us all proud 🇲🇽

Saw Fraser has returned to action with a goal for the u21s. Did anyone find out anything about where he went? I remember seeing someone say he almost quit football, but I never saw something specific about an injury.

I charted Wolves' whole history through the pyramid: the Cullis years to the fourth-tier collapse to now. What did I get wrong?

Post image
55 Upvotes

Passion project — I've been building a visualization of every English club's history through the four divisions, and I wanted Wolves looked over by people who actually know it.

The line is Wolves' overall position across the pyramid each season, top band being the top flight and bottom the fourth tier, with the bands marking the division. You can see the founder-member origins, the Cullis 1950s peak and the famous floodlit European nights, the catastrophic '80s fall to the Fourth Division and near-extinction, Steve Bull, and the climb back to the Premier League and Europe.

Two things I'd love help with. First, the annotated moments: right choices, right wording, anything missing? Stuff that matters to Wolves fans doesn't always show up in a league-position chart. Second, anything factually wrong: built from historical tables, so tell me if a season looks off.

Made in R if you're curious. Cheers.

Gracey and Brooks in net. No Armstrong. Jackson Tchatchoua got 45 minutes. Granted anyone who featured at the World Cup gets a prolonged summer break

University work kept me away from keeping updated haha

EDIT: Thanks in advance for helping out. I've been drowning in work recently and haven't been able to be as updated as I was last year, when I read every article and watched every video.
