I was so impressed with the bang for your buck on this hike! I just want to recommend it to anyone who wants to experience a little climb for a captivating view.

I’ve done the 4,000 footers and am now loving my journey through the 52 with a view. So many gems that weren’t on my radar!

This hike is wonderful for bringing along newer hikers.

Did the traverse yesterday and it was a blast. Had the peaks all to myself and didn't see anyone till I was 95% done.

I was shocked there weren't more out given it's proximity to North Conway. Views were great and the hike up north got the heart pumping.

I was running at the end of the hike to meet the car that was picking me up, passed a bunch of kids and then promptly ate shit. I was fine, just a bruised ego but the timing was excellent

Trying to plan a Mt Adams loop right now and looking at using Lowe's Path as the descent. Looking for something different as I've already done airline and valleyway. Looking planning on going out King ravine and looping back out Lowe's path. Just interested in hearing anyone's thoughts on Lowe's. Thanks

My girlfriend and I are doing a trip through the white mountains, we will be staying just outside of Littleton and are looking to do a hike then drive over to bar harbor for our next stop later in the day.

We’re both in great shape and I’ve backpacked the pemi loop before and loved the views and the challenge it presented.

I’m looking for a hike that can be completed in 4-8 hours

- Franconia Ridge
- Caps Ridge to Jefferson

But I know it’s going to be a Sunday morning so I’m concerned about parking.

If you have any insight on if parking will be readily available to either of those as well as some alternative suggestions that would be greatly appreciated!

hi, I’m hoping to do the Franconia Ridge Loop trail for the first time this summer. I’ve hiked other white mountains and know this is a difficult trail (mainly due to length???) , but I’m wondering about the extent of the rock scrambles. For me, the most difficult part are those completely flat, but steep slabs of rock. I’ve looked at numerous videos and pictures, but I haven’t seen any of those. For context, I did the Welch-Dickey loop about a month ago, and felt comfortable with the slab sections, even when they were damp and slippery. However, I probably wouldn’t want to climb slabs much steeper than that. Does this trail include a lot of that? from what I’ve seen, it looks like a lot of smaller rocks but a very well marked trail. thanks in advance!

This adventure has left such an impact on me. It was a precious glimpse into what felt like a different planet. So worth every step, and left me hoping that those close to me get to experience it one day too.

Last summer I did the Pemigewasset loop in three nights and had a great time, so I've been wanting to come back and do something bigger in WMNF. I hear the presidentials are cool but I'm also pretty interested in this Huntington Ravine which I hear is challenging.

Does anybody who's more familiar with the area have any 30-40 mile recommendations, and is it possible to do Huntington Ravine AND a good portion of the peaks around there?

Heading to the Dry River wilderness area this weekend. Curious to know how much water is flowing in the river right now. Not worried about crossings, more concerned about getting drinking water to filter. If anyone has been up there very recently, please let me know. Thanks!

Looks like a trough coming in Sunday/Monday and blowing out Monday/Tuesday, but curious if anyone has looked at next week and has a prediction. I know predictions don't mean much, but I try to gather whatever info I can. Cheers!

Hi all! Looking to formulate a good plan to tackle Washington in a couple weeks. I’ve completed 4 single day presidential traverses and finished one in just under 7 hours so please skip the usual warning about how tough it is and the need for preparation ect. I know. I’m getting a little bored with the standard presidential traverse route and wanna tackle some different routes. Was thinking of doing the Tuckerman ravine route up but I want a little more than just an up and down. Ideally looking for 15-20 miles with unique views around the mountain above tree line. Anyone got trail recommendations? Must see stops? Tackled similar routes? Anything helps, thanks!

I have autoimmune/ chronic illness crap, and a mystery breathing problem that presents like copd but isn't plus spine, right shoulder, right hand, both ankles, and both legs (knees and calves) injuries

(some have had surgery, some need surgery, some are just part of my life now)

I have gained a lot of weight the past few years from inactivity (and metabolic bs) and really want to be more physical

Is it true if you ride a bike to the trailhead and back that the hike to summit and back won’t be counted towards the 48? This doesn’t seem fair as anyone else doing the 48’s previously didn’t have the extra 4 mile road walk.

Right now I'm torn between getting a -20f bag or a -40 bag. I like the flexibility of the -20, but back in January there were multiple days I would get into the car, and the thermometer would be -15f and I worry that would be pushing it for a -20 bag (I definitely run cold). I'm looking at Marmot for the CWM -40 bag or the Col -20f and honestly, the weight, price, and size difference is so small I'm wondering if it would just be worth getting the CWM. Also, at what temperature does a -40 become "too warm"? I've heard you can use them as high as single digits/teens.

Starting from the Brickett House in the Evans Notch I went up the Royce Trail on 7/19. Lots of water crossings but the levels are low, the Mad River Falls was still awesome (somehow my pictures of it are weird only got a pic of Hermit Falls at the end) There is some bouldering and steep climbing before getting to a junction for East and West Royce. Both were windy and it felt as though it may rain. East Royce has a view NW, W, SW. The valley between the Royces is wet and gorgeous, the carpets of moss everywhere hug you. West Royce will trick you into thinking you will get a view sometimes but then nada. You can get glimpses of the Wild River Wilderness. Then almost at the top you get a view (pic included) The remaining trail on the Basin Rim Trail is nice but no view until right before the next junction(pic). One area of the Basin Rim Trail that made me go "nah this can't be the trail" but it was and is (ifykyk) Got to dip my sore feet in the Hermit Falls (pic) on way down. Walking down to the Basin I saw the first people on trail all day.

This is a hard but fun day trip loop and would do it again. Maybe when the wind is lower and sun is higher though.
