V70 Camping setup

What do you all think of our camping setup?

This is our 2007 volvo v70 p2 the D5 ran 240 000km (150 000 miles) so far. We use it right now to camp in France and Spain. This is my first car, our old family wagon that I got from my dad. I couldn't be happier with it, no big issues so far and really spacious. The car really shines on those long distance drives, where you need reliability and comfort.

900 series Volvo 850 mirrors on 940 ?

Thumbnail

Have you ever noticed that the Volvo 850 side mirrors are smaller and more sleekly designed than the bulky 940 mirror?

My friend and I decided to make the 850 mirror fit on my 960.

We need to keep the triangular mirror bracket from the 940 and modify it to be more flush to mount the 850 mirror so it looks original. No modification on the doors only on the brackets.

After cutting and welding, the triangular mount is flat, and now you can screw the 850 mirror on the 940 mounts. The pair in the image needs to be sanded and painted, but I wanted to share the process.

I forgot to take a pic of the fully welded bracket but just imagine a flat surface with some drilled holes for the screws to mount the 850 mirror.

I saw these Euro-style mirrors with blinkers on an old black Volvo V70 and liked to have similar on my 960.

s60/v60 2017 S60 Help Needed

Hello Volvo community, I am at a loss currently with my 2017 S60 T6. I have been tracing a battery drain problem for months, I just put a brand new AGM battery in after the old one died due to excessive drain. At first I thought it was the SiriusXM module, so I took it to the Volvo Store, only to be told the CEM needed an upgrade. The next day, they told me the Driver Power Seat Control Module was causing excessive drain, they said they'd need to replace it, I was not particularly wanting to add $1k to my already high bill, I declined it. I see the module is only $160 new, my usual mechanic says he cannot program it himself. They've disconnected the seat in the meantime to drain. Is the dealer my only option?

Hi I have just bought my first volvo, does anybody have any advice with aftermarket stereo setups? I have a cheap and cheerful screen connected atm but would rather something that is actually integrated into the car. Any pictures or advice would be much appreciated :)

Selling subaru, buying old volvo

Recently I inherited a 2021 subaru forester. It's a fantastic car, i have had some brilliant times with it. It currently only has 30k miles on it.

Most of my life, I have been a volvo wagon owner. I currently have a xc70 project sitting in my garage.

I love my subaru, but it's a little bit too much for me. All the electronics, power everything. It doesn't fit my needs as a mechanic. I feel like if it ever breaks down. It's going to be a pain in the butt to repair, and also expensive.

I'm really thinking about pulling the trigger on selling it. And buying another used volvo as my daily.

In my experience, both of my volvos will probably last twice as long as the subaru.

I need some support chat. Tell me i'm not crazy for wanting to sell a modern day top notch subaru car for a much older volvo.

Tire replacement triggers loss of traction XC60

Some interesting experience with a new 2026, XC60 B5.
Had a rear driver side flat at about 8K miles. Replaced with the spare, drove a couple days, no problem.
Went to get a new tire, same brand, size, etc. as originals. After tire install, car doesn't run anymore! Some "traction" related error, engine running, no movement!
Car on 5.0.5 soft.
Tire shop measured the other tires, apparently 3mm usage on the old ones, and claimed that the "system" doesn't adjust to the difference, being an all wheel drive car.
Put spare back, drove to dealership. Dealership checks errors, etc. "we've never seen anything like this before!". Car still in shop for software fix!

Parking Assist System Issue

Post image
4 Upvotes

So as per the image I've got the classic park assist cleaning needed fault, all the sensors are clean obviously. A front one looks to have a bit of a stone chip however with various parking positions and having a tight driveway, in the 5-10 seconds before the warning comes on at startup, I have seen every single sensor functioning on the 360 view before the message comes up? I'm booked in for a sensor replacement but...which one is it or is there something else?

s80 Air intake duct tube coming out

Hi,

We have S80 ( 2008) and we noticed that air intake tube came of and it's somehow too short. If we put one side in, the other is little bit in and it comes out again. Is there any solution except buying a new part?

Experience with 2015 XC60 T5?

Looking at buying a 2015 Volvo XC60 T5 premier (5 cylinder, 2.5L) with 70k on it. I’ve read about oil consumption / piston ring issues on other XC60s of that era, but does anybody have experience with this particular model?

2021 XC90 T6 momentum. This morning I noticed my car said 65 degrees, and I live in the southeast US. That would have been lovely. It was about 10 degrees warmer than that.

Same issue in the afternoon. It’s off about 10 or so degrees. Is there a way to fix this? This is the first I’ve noticed.

I hate to even ask… is this an easy fix? I know this is a small thing to worry about.

s60/v60 2019 s60 t6 inscription questions

Hey fellas!
I purchased a 2019 s60 a week ago with 25,000 miles on it and I have a few questions.
When I’m driving I notice the mileage does not change, it only updates after I turn off the car then turn it back on. I’m not sure if this is normal or not.

Another thing is when I open the odometer menu, starts on trip but when I go over to media, I am no longer able to go back to trip unless the car is shut off then turned back on. Thank you for taking the time to read my post and feedback would be greatly appreciated.

xc series Xc90 cluster replacement - suspension failure

Upvotes

I just replaced my speedometer cluster in my xc90 as the backlight had gone out. I bought one from a recycle yard for $80 and installed in about 10 minutes

The cluster works as expected but I am now seeing a warning for suspension failure and am wondering if it could be due to the unit being pulled out of a wrecked xc90

I see the suspension warning on the dash and in the system messages and was wondering if anyone had dealt with this before, and if there is a way to clear it

I realize there could be a suspension issue as the car has 150k miles on it, but since I didn’t see the warning before hand, wanted to ask here.

ABS light came on during long drive and then disappeared?

Hi folks. 2016 s60 here. I was on a trip this past weekend and after about 200 miles, the ABS/ESC light came on. Next day, get in the car and it flashes up, but then goes away. About 100 miles into the drive home, it comes back on. Next day, when I turned the car on, same thing - the light flashed on and then went away. Now I haven’t seen it come on since because I haven’t driven long distances.

Is this something I should go to the mechanic for now? Wait until the next service?

s90/v90 Help with door locks USDM 2017 s90 T6

The driver side lock quit locking with the rest of the car. If you open it while locked the door opens and the alarm goes off. I’ve used the emergency key blade to reset it a number of times, and it would be good for months after, but now it’s happening every time and needs the manual key every single time. Do I really have to go to the dealer and bang out 80 thousand dollars to have it fixed or is there a simple way to do it myself? Idk if the lock needs changing or if it’s bugged out or what. It’s not letting me post a picture

Picking up a 2017 v60 D6 rdesign lux with 50,000 miles on the clock is there anything in particular I should look out for?

Can’t wait to pick it up & join the club like to go camping often and have a tent box so cannot wait to get that bad boy on the motor n head off to Peak District this weekend but I would like to know if there’s any problems these models have that I should be on the look out for?
I know to check for the ISG belt and to make sure the AC & heat works well & to check that the car plugs in and charges but are there any other things I should keep an eye out for?
