Review / Advice First Timer

143 days until my first ever Virgin cruise on Scarlet Lady! Only my second time ever on a ship. Any advice for a newbie?

*Side note* I’m also 6’11” and always worry about smaller spaces. Should I avoid certain areas in the ship? How are the showers? 😬

Advice/Review Request Heading to Alaska on Brilliant Lady tomorrow - Highlights? Recommendations?

Really excited for our trip tomorrow. Hoping to gather some recommendations! Favorite dishes? Activities/shows? Destinations at ports?

Planning on just wandering around at the ports, grabbing some coffee and leaving the itinerary mostly open. Although we have already booked all our dining.

Thanks in advance!

Clothing 👙🩲👗👖 Bday Cruise in January 2027

Upvotes

Big birthday is coming in January and life has been lifing..October is solo-booked and I was considering a traditional trip to Key West, the Bahamas or Ft. Lauderdale for my bday...then it hit me, book another VV!

Sight unseen, I booked another with a First Mate, which happens to embark on my bday!

But, the question is...for those who have done a January sailing to Key West/Bimini.. I'm sure nights are brisk...but days..what do I bring? Hoochie daddies? Light pants? Light sweaters?

Do tell.

Offers / Sales / Deals / Pricing Best time to reserve

I’m starting to plan my first VV cruise for next fall sept/oct 2027. I keep seeing these promos for free balcony and discount off 2nd sailor if reserve by 31st. Not sure me and my sailing buddy will be ready by then and also we might have 1 or 2 more people join us and not sure if we cram in one room or split into two.

We also want a balcony, do those go quick and is safer to book earlier or could I book closer to 6 months out and be okay?

TLDR: does VV always offer some deal/incentive and is okay to wait to book a balcony?

Seeking Travel agent assistance Hubby & I’s first cruise together and first Virgin Voyages Cruise 🚢🥳

Hi all!

Me and my husband M25/M40 are going on our first cruise together sometimes this fall with Virgin. I’m starting to get sort kinda get really excited about the dressing up to match the theme, go get fun dinners and lunches, hopefully find eggs benedict on the boat somewhere and go waterfall swimming in the DR. 🥳

My hubby on the other hand is a stickler for a good deal so I was wondering if anyone has any Travel agent companies or individuals they’d recommend. Looking for a perk maxing, discounting getting, gay friendly baddie to help us worry less about the money and more about the value and fun we will have!

We haven’t picked any of the specific dates but do want it to be this fall 2026.

Also my partner is a big foody and stressed about booking the dinner options. What the best way to go about booking them with the more basic fairs and also does anyone ever have any luck going up last minute and still getting seating?

Would love some help! 😋

Cabin Questions Nintendo Switch on cabin TVs?

If we bring a Nintendo Switch and HDMI cable onboard, would we be able to hook it up to the TV in the cabin? We’ll be cruising with a group of people next week and thought it might be fun to have friends over to our room for some games.

General Question / Discussion Unable to checkin

Any UK travellers have the issue of not being able to get past the ESTA screen on the app? You click to say you have one after entering passport details and it won’t let you submit, which means you can’t complete checkin.

Tried on partner and my bookings. Multiple bookings all doing the same.

Does anyone know if you can access a HDMI port on the TV in your cabin. I want to hook my phone up so I can watch some shows I like from my phone.

Shore Things / excursions Mermaid Hideaway at Bimini Beach Club

Hello! My friends and I are taking our first Virgin Voyages Cruise soon! We are quite excited but we’ve run into a bit of a snag that support have been unhelpful for! We booked the Mermaid Hideaway Excursion for our stop at Bimini! It was our understanding that one person made the reservation and all could be added to it. However, support is saying that all six of us need to reserve it separately. $6,000 for a cabana seems rather steep. That can’t be right, can it?

Advice/Review Request Ideas for celebrating husband’s birthday on Brilliant Lady

We’re doing the 7-night Mexican Riviera cruise on Brilliant Lady, and my husband’s birthday falls on one of the port days. I want to plan something special onboard, could be a specific venue, a way to arrange a surprise, a good spot for drinks with a view, or anything crew-related (does Virgin do anything for birthdays if you let them know in advance?).

Has anyone celebrated a birthday on Brilliant Lady or another Virgin ship? Would love to hear what you did, what worked, and any tips for making it feel special without it being a whole production. Thanks in advance!

General Question / Discussion Seattle VV Shuttle questions

My wife and I flying in the morning of our Alaska Cruise next month. I know I usually don't fly in the day of except we are leaving from Idaho and our flight is the first one in the morning. Will be in Seattle at 8:30am. Pricing out getting to the port we decided to just take the train to Pike Place and take the VV shuttle to the port. Has anyone done this before? Do a lot of people take it with Luggage? My understanding is the Shuttle Runs from 9am from the port the Seattle Aquarium is that correct? Any help is much appreciated.

Review / Advice Which itenerary

Been on 3 Virgin cruises so far but trying to decide between Costa Maya-Cozumel-Bimini or Ocho Rios-Georgetown-Bimini. I’ve been to Bimini and Georgetown so I guess I’m really asking which is better between Costa Maya and Ocho Rios.

Has anyone had experience running into fellow MTG Commander players on their cruises? Sailing the Caribbean later this week and would love to sling my favorite cardboard while the wife slings hers (blackjack).

Embarkation / Disembarkation New Departure Time

Post image
19 Upvotes

Departure and all aboard times were moved up an hour for our upcoming cruise. Does that mean Rockstar and Priority boarding are moved up an hour as well? Made no mention of it in the email.

Edit: This is for a sailing out of Seattle.

Update: The app now shows boarding time a half hour earlier.

Embarkation / Disembarkation Disembarkation Seattle

Hi All,

Just got an email that we can now disembark in Seattle at 6:30am. With the original time of 7:30am, I had been going back and forth between a 10am flight or 3:30pm flight back to Boston (the later gets in after midnight👎).

I plan to switch it now to the 10am flight, but just curious if anyone has disembarked at 6:30am and how it went? Was it any easier to get an Uber/Lyft that early?

Advice/Review Request Are skimpy or thong bikinis allowed on board?

I’m (f20) booked in for a cruise to the Bahamas in a few weeks with my boyfriend and his family and I’m working out what to pack vs what I need to buy! I typically wear thong style bikinis as I find them most comfortable, and I actually have a really nice skimpy red one for Scarlett night. Will this be okay or should I buy some more full coverage options? Asking on behalf of my boyfriend’s sister too as she’s finding it hard to know what to pack too.
