My mother-in-law received this text message addressing me. Her phone number or name isnt mentioned anywhere in my military documents and she doesn’t know anything about my benefits. I actually got married after my service so I’m i’m not understanding why she received this text message.

Has this happened to anyone else or has anyone received this message to their own phone?

So I had a C&P back in February, denied in March. Some of the langage in the denial letter referenced an MRI I had supposedly underwent in Feb.

I pulled the DBQ via FOIA and low and behold, the LSGS examiner had referenced an MRI report. Here's the kicker though, at this point I had never had an MRI. (Had it done at the VA in April)

She likely confused me with another veteran, but I can't help but wonder where she got this very detailed MRI report from, and then proceeded to base her diagnosis, and medical opinion on this fabricated report.

I'm now in the process of an HLR to try and get everything corrected, but the moral of the story boys and girls is actually read through your denials, do your own QA, and request your DBQs.

I think a lot of us just get a denial, howl at the moon, curse the rater, and try again.

I was told that if I enrol in VRE, I will most likely get my PT reevaluated and lower my rating. I was told this by the counsellor during our interview today.

My dad is 100%. He has dementia. His current caregiver is not capable of caring for him. I and another are going to have to take steps to try to get some type of control. One question is does the VA provide at no cost a caring facility for him For life ? And who should I contact

I have 20% rating, just enough to get me into the VA health system, which has been a HUGE blessing.

In February I was on vacation and tore my pectoral muscle. The day after I got back, I should have went to the civilian ER but instead I went to the VA urgent care. The provider was a PA who seemed to be in a hurry. I told him what happened, told him it felt like I tore my pectoral, showed him the dent on my pectoral right near my armpit and the huge bruise on my bicep. He said he thought it was my shoulder or bicep muscle, and sent me for an Xray for some reason, which I could get done right away. then he said he put in for an MRI, but admittedly said it could take weeks to get me in. I asked him if my injury was time sensitive, he said no.

So 3 weeks later, no MRI. I called and called and finally got them to send me to community care, which got me in the next day for MRI. That came back but I couldnt tell what it meant, im not a Dr. I scheduled for Ortho appt, another month out. By the time I saw that doc, he said he couldnt really tell by the imaging because it wasnt done on my pectoraln and he couldnt see enough of it, but thought it may be a partial tear or pectoral and partial tear of bicep. But then kinda just blew it off since Im in my 50s. Well I like to be active and stay in shape so just siting around around getting fat isnt my thing. I asked him to order more imaging so we could know for sure but he flat out wasnt interested. i went back and banged on my primary who ordered a chest MRI, and sent me to community care for Ortho doc. Well I got the ortho doc appt yesterday, still waiting on community care MRI. The civilian ortho doc did a more complete exam on me and said it looked to him like a 60% tear of my pectoral but my bicep was fine. He also said it was likely not repairable since it has been 5 months since the injury and it has retracted. This pisses me off as I knew what the injury was and told the urgent care doc and was told it wasnt the case and nothing needed to be done at that time. Im STILL waiting on the chest MRI.. Im just pissed and wondering what I can do, or if I should do anything?

I dont want to risk losing my health benefits but Im kinda pissed the Urgent Care doc didn't do his job, now my pectoral is half gone and will never be the same.

My local outpatient clinic is down to one provider for PT. And is booked till august 30th. I message my PCP team and asked for CC referral. Got told they can’t refer because we have one at the clinic even though it’s booked out past 30 days. This is a first for me.

Looking for some real talk from people who've been down this road. I have 17 months of Montgomery GI Bill benefits left, and I was told they expire 10 years after my service ended, so I'm looking at a 2029 cutoff.

Here's my situation: I don't currently hold a degree, but I've worked my way up to a senior endpoint engineering role (MECM/SCCM, Intune, OS deployment) in the federal space, and I hold an active TS/SCI clearance. So I'm not desperate for a degree to prove I can do the job, I'm already doing it.

That said, I know a degree could still open doors, especially for roles that have a hard requirement on paper regardless of experience. I've been considering starting a B.S. in AI Engineering through WGU since it's self paced and could be a good use of the time before the benefit expires.

A few questions for anyone who's been in a similar spot:

Is it worth using MGIB on a degree I don't strictly need right now, just so the benefit doesn't go to waste?

Are there other approved uses for MGIB besides a traditional degree program that might make more sense for someone already established in their field? (Certifications, licensing exams, anything cool etc.)

Appreciate any perspective, especially from people in IT/tech who've navigated this same decision.

I have a question about the housing allowance. If you're eligible for the Post-9/11 GI Bill and use VR&E (Chapter 31) instead, does VR&E pay the same housing amount (MHA/P911 Subsistence Allowance) as the Post-9/11 GI Bill in California?

If so, is it based on the school's ZIP code just like the Post-9/11 GI Bill? If you've attended school in California under VR&E, how much were you receiving per month and what school/city were you attending?

I’ll try to keep this short. I’m 100% P&T, was evaluated at a community car clinic to get a tooth capped to prevent a root canal, get a few failing crowns redone, and get a couple of fillings.

The RFS was sent almost 2 months ago. I’ve been calling the VA weekly and the Clinic to figure out what’s going on but keep getting the runaround. Everyone is blaming each other and acting clueless when I ask questions. I found out today that my dentist at my VA clinic denied every single request in the RFS. (I was also told by community care that they had no idea who approves it or who I should get in contact with)

I have no idea what’s going on but at this point I’m getting desperate. When I first got seen, the dentist told me it was an emergency to get one of these teeth taken care of and I needed to get seen as soon as possible. I’m at the point where I’m about to reach out to Patient Advocacy but I don’t have any faith in these people to help me. I live near the border, so heading to Mexico wouldn’t be difficult.

Referencing my original post below, I just received my decision yesterday 3 days after my VES C&P. As I predicted, since my cancer is in remission, I am not longer at 100%. I was awarded for 40% for the residuals of urinary frequency.

I also lost the "homebound" SMC but I am retaining SMC-K for lost of creative organ.

I am indeed going down to 80% and I am fine with that. I had a good 2 1/2 year run,

I am grateful for the VA telling me I should submit a claim for my cancer. I had submitted a claim for another disability and it was denied, but on the same letter they said to submit for prostate cancer. Have to say all my experiences have been positive with the VA.

Hello, just want to mention that I HAVE read through all the previous post on reddit but didn't find what I was looking for for. I am at 100% P&T, housebound, all that stuff. Where do I even begin? I started the application process online (VA), printed the form (21-2680) but I don't know what to do next. I do not have a primary care provider.

I am moving to a different state, and will start using a different VA. I haven’t been on great terms with family, mainly due to my past, I’m an alcoholic, and have used probably ever substance on the face of the earth. I haven’t been clean and sober for years, but the damage I did has been everlasting. I have a niece and nephew that work at the VA I will be using. One works in scheduling, the other is a PA-C. I have never disclosed I use the VA, what I am rated for, or what my rating is to family. Being in another state I have never thought about family accessing my records, until now. I know it’s a no no for them to casually look, but it’s a smaller facility. How do I tell the VA I don’t want care or any interactions from either one since they are family. My mental health records have notes that mention my sister. While I want to try and repair the damage and not be so distant, I’m reconsidering since I now know they work there.

I received TDIU in 2021 and scheduler P&T in 2003. Prior to that I hadn't worked since 2015, but I did get a Master's degree (which I never used). I'm applying to VRE to go back to college for a degree in Spanish to work as an interpreter. Will my previous degree prevent me from being accepted through VRE?

I just got a rating and still have another exam pending for nerve damage. I did not file radiculopathy in my left and right appendages and have an intent to file for them from last month. This exam looks like it's for possibly radiculopathy of my shoulder.

My question is, should I go to the exam and then wait for final rating, then file my radiculopathy claims?

Or should I just file my seperate radiculopathy claim now?

I am rated at 93% right now.

Also, they have me listed as single in my letter? I have been married for years now. Any idea on how I change that?

Looking to get direct deposit set up for FMP claims as I’m moving abroad. Everything has brought me to signing up like I’m a VA vendor and needing some identifier from Sam.gov
Is there an easier way?

I had a C&P exam scheduled for a vaginal issue and and appendectomy. That's what it said on the paper. The denial I got said that I also had a GI exam on the same day, which is news to me.

Can they do that? I had a supplemental claim for the GI and they didn't list the C&P exam as a GI C&P. Is it common to not let you know which C&P exam you are scheduled for?

So I’m sitting at 60% and separately I was progressing rapidly into stage 3,4 and now 5 kidney disease.

My doctor has noted it’s “partially” due to NSAIDs use that of course they gave me from injuries occrured.

I also have had chf lf and currently sit at 55% efraction rate. I’m cleared to do surgery and get a kidney later (so far).

Doctors have claimed they have no issue with me going to 100%.

I have had repeated under 15 gfr and very elevated creatinine. Like 6 months straight.

I need to get this done so I can start dialysis surgery and treatment.

What is common advice on this.

Has anyone else currently attending classes through CH31 VR&E suddenly received a notice that you have a new advisor and all of the communication you receive reads very AI-coded?
