Before the price increase everyone seemed to recommend Hetzner. The situation for me in the UK is that these prices have gone up and all of the cheap cost-optimised servers have been bought up. So the next cheapest option to get 8GB of RAM for Immich is a CPX32 at 42.59 euros per month.

The thing is, taking a look at Ionos pricing. I can get a VPS L+ with 6 vCores for 21.10/month (8 ish for first 3 months). Half price for 2 extra cores and 50% more storage. And apparently both servers use EPYC Milan.

This seems ridiculous to me. Just wondering if I'm missing something? I've found IONOS a bit annoying with their support and business practises but nothing terrible. Every other provider else seems mixed.

I'm looking for a budget-friendly Windows VPS with a Singapore server location for running multiple MT5 terminals.

Currently, using Contabo (~$18/month for 4 vCPU, 8 GB RAM)

Previously used NYC Servers, but they're around $20/month for just 2 vCPU, 2 GB RAM, which feels overpriced.

I have seen a bunch of people here really aggressively hate on Cantabo without offering clear reasons on why.

And I would like to know why as I’m a customer with them and would change ASAP if someone can give me a good reason. A lot of what I find is that they have slower network speeds and they are also “slow” (not sure in what respect, load times for website or when ssh-ing?)

I have noticed that maybe certain TUIs load up slower (opencode) and I chalked that up to my own network speed but I guess it’s a contabo problem?

Even still having a slow server isn’t necessarily a crime. Especially when it comes to around the half the price of providers like Hetzner.

What I have become more worried about is security concerns? are these of prominence with Contabo?

I noticed that for my Hetzner VPS, I was allowed to only login through ssh after exchanging ssh-keys between my devices. Whereas I was able to rawdog contabo, however, it isn’t that technically complex to set up ssh authentication? And if I can take other steps to secure my server as well as what would be considered “stock” through providers like Hetzner.

Then does Contabo only suck because they are kinda slow at half the price?

# My Experience with NKTelecom – Unexpected Invoices, Repeated Payment Attempts, and Poor Customer Support

I am writing this article to document my personal experience with NKTelecom so that anyone considering their services can make an informed decision.

Everything described below is based on my own experience and is supported by screenshots of emails, invoices, payment attempts, and support conversations.

The Beginning

I had been using NKTelecom VPS services for some time.

Eventually, I received abuse reports related to my servers. The company informed me that they no longer wished to continue providing services to me and advised me to move all of my services to another provider.

I respected their decision.

I migrated all of my services elsewhere and configured my servers to **terminate automatically at the end of the billing period**. I never requested any renewal.

Their Written Promise

Support later sent me the following message:

"Cancel all subscriptions in payment systems and delete all your payment methods from us. We will not charge you."

This statement was very clear.

I understood that once my current billing period ended, there would be no more invoices and no further payment attempts.

What Actually Happened

Unfortunately, that is not what happened.

After our cooperation had already ended:

• New invoices were generated.
• My PayPal billing agreement attempted to charge my payment methods multiple times.
• More than one payment method previously linked to my account was targeted.

Fortunately, I never keep money on my bank cards. I only add funds when I need to make a purchase.

If I had kept money on those cards, these payment attempts could have successfully withdrawn money from my account despite the company's written assurance that **"We will not charge you."**

Financial Loss

Even though the payment attempts failed, they still cost me money.

Every failed billing attempt resulted in bank and transaction fees, causing me to lose approximately **$2** for absolutely no valid reason.

These losses happened only because NKTelecom's billing system continued attempting to charge my payment methods after promising that no further charges would be made.

Servers Suspended Before the End of the Paid Period

Another issue was that my servers were suspended before the end of the billing period.

I still had paid days remaining on my services.

This unexpected suspension interrupted my services and caused additional financial losses.

Contacting Support

I contacted support and asked several simple questions:

• Why were new invoices generated?
• Why did your billing system attempt to charge me after telling me "We will not charge you"?
• Why were multiple payment methods charged?
• Why were my servers suspended before the end of the paid period?

Instead of answering these questions, support replied by calling me a spammer and telling me to stop writing to them.

Whether they wanted to terminate our cooperation is not the issue.

Every hosting provider has the right to refuse service.

The real issue is what happened **after** that decision.

If the company had already decided to terminate my services, then there should have been:

• No new invoices.
• No payment attempts.
• No charges against previously linked payment methods.
• No financial losses caused by their billing system.

Why I Am Sharing This Experience

I am not publishing this article because my account was terminated.

I am publishing it because of everything that happened afterward.

I believe other customers deserve to know exactly what happened before deciding whether to trust this provider with their services and payment methods.

Final Thoughts

Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend NKTelecom.

If you decide to use their services, I strongly recommend:

• Remove every payment method immediately after canceling your services.
• Cancel any PayPal Billing Agreement linked to your account.
• Keep screenshots of every conversation with support.
• Monitor your bank cards and PayPal account even after your services have ended.

I’m looking for low-cost VPS providers with locations in the US, Europe, and Asia. Ideally, the cost would be under $5 per month per server in each region.

What I need: Good availability across all three regions and a high data transfer limit (~15 TB/month or more).

I don't need much CPU, RAM, or disk space. The server will primarily be relaying traffic (similar to a TURN server), so CPU load will be minimal.

Major providers like GCP, Azure, and AWS charge too much for data transfer. Do you have any recommendations for cheaper alternatives?

I know that Kalshi uses Cloudflare POP but I’m curious if anyone has used their Kalshi optimized VPS and noticed a reduction in latency? I did my own pinging from various servers in AWS regions but I have a certain strat that might benefit from less execution latency.

Ovhcloud disappointed me this time

I used to book bare metals or you can say dedicated server from ovh and every time for 120 second too it used to take delivery to be in 5 hours but this time I had purchased Rise 3 eco server on 5th July and technically tomorrow 15 days will be passed but no update of eta or when it will be delivered on my ticket.

Ovh has really disappointed this time, it didn't used to be this slow.

My friend had purchased on same day around 17:54 but he got the dedicated server delivered last Sunday only and it has been a week since he received but for 5 hours difference a whole week has passed is not a good thing.

Hello, I am running a small server with 5 players. We currently pay 11 euros per month on a Minecraft server host for 6gb ram.

Recently we’ve been thinking of expanding (might reach 5-10 plrs) , we plan to switch to a modded server with a pack like Create+, Create above the horizons, etc, so around 150 mods or more.

I have been looking at VPSes for more performance for the price as my budget is 12 euros per month, and I have been looking at **Euronodes 4vCores + 8gb RAM** setup and also **Netcups VPS** **1000 G12**, but I am still unsure on what’d be the best option ! I have not found any reviews on Euronodes MC servers.

I decided to try netcup and ordered an RS 1000 G12 in Vienna.

The server was basically unusable from the start.

On a clean default Debian installation it scored:

290 single-core / 952 multi-core

I repeated the test:

293 / 940

Then I booted netcup’s own Rescue System to completely exclude my OS and configuration:

296 / 959

At first I wondered whether this was somehow normal for their RS 1000 plan, so I ordered a second identical RS 1000 G12 in the same Vienna location.

The second server scored:

1801 single-core / 5751 multi-core

Result: https://browser.geekbench.com/v6/cpu/18686172

The storage performance was also around 4–5 times better on the second server.

So the first server was not “a little slower”. It was clearly broken, throttled or incorrectly provisioned.

I sent netcup all of this information and asked them to cancel and refund only the defective server.

Then they ignored me for five days.

When they finally replied, they sent me a generic form asking for:

• the affected server
• the plan
• the operating system
• the benchmark used
• the benchmark results
• whether the issue was continuous

Literally all of that was already included in my original message.

At this point I had already rented a second server, tested it, installed everything and migrated my services. I basically diagnosed and solved their infrastructure problem myself while their support stayed silent.

Their servers may offer good price/performance when you receive a normal one, but this support experience is ridiculous.

Has anyone else had netcup deliver a severely underperforming RS and then take days to respond?

If thats not a case for any reason (you have paying clients and you need someone on the other side who will work with you - not treat you like a number in the queue) - you can start testing further

Email a few first. Reply quality tells you everything. Owned-infra answers on the spot, resellers "pass it to the team."

• Hourly billing - bail in 24h, not a year
• Trustpilot / SmartCustomer for the support rating
• Tell them your workload. Real provider steers you (HA vs local disk). No questions = they don't care
• Get a VM, don't say it's yours, run top, watch %st (steal). The real oversell is here
• Ask the oversell ratio. Skip above 5:1
• Ask the CPU cap. Higher = better
• Run YABS, paste to ChatGPT/Claude and ask to judge numbers vs price

Pick the right CPU for your workload:

• Consumer Ryzen/i7/i9 - lots of GHz (game servers, single-threaded apps, LLMs)
• Enterprise Xeon/EPYC - sustained 24/7, ECC, databases
• Ask what the fleet runs (Skylake, Cascade, Ice, Xeon 6). Consistent = planned provider. Mix-and-match = ebay deals
• Fleet uniformity also tells you how long they've been at it

Storage:

• "Fast NVMe" - ask: local, or an array in the next building? The part they forget to mention

!!! IMPORTANT !!!

For heavy or unusual workload - high-traffic VPN, lots of seeding, CPU-heavy automation?

• Tell them up front
• Ask how they isolate it
• Good ones keep it off shared nodes. Can't answer = walk

Trivia:

- The oversell ratio (thing you never hear about) is the single most important factor next to the CPU cap. There's a reason why you never hear about it. You would prefer Geekbench score 1300 on 15 y.o CPU (Sandy Bridge,2011, GB:~1300) with oversell 2:1 over newest Ryzen 5 GHz with oversell 10:1 - I assure you of that

- Geekbench score (while at it) is as relevant for VPS as acceleration 0-100 km/h is for Scania truck. Wrong benchmark for the job. You want to know:

- Steal time
- Storage latency
- Network consistency at peak
not how the CPU bursts in 90 seconds - thats for rendering "Classroom" and for LLM inference
