I’m going into my third-year at VIU, and I'm looking for roommates to group up with to rent a bigger place together!

A bit about me: I’m pretty reserved as a person, but I subconsciously match people’s vibes a lot, so if you’re talkative, I’ll probably be too. I listen to music a lot, I like tv/games, and if I’m not in my room, I’m probably at the university or at the gym/practice. so it’s be nice to find people with similar interests/lifestyles, since it’ll be a lot easier to get along with each other. I’m also clean and respectful and all the usual stuff.

I'm looking to rent from September 2026 to the End of April 2027, so about two semesters of University.

To anyone entering the Post Bacc Teaching program in September - did you receive an email about instructions for the criminal record check?

I know VIU doesn't disclose waitlist positions, but I'm trying to gauge my chances of being accepted. I have to make a decision about my job soon so I'm hitting a bit of a crunch time. Has anyone here been waitlisted before or happen to know how much the waitlist typically moves for this program? Appreciate the insight.

hey! I'm starting at VIU in the fall as part of the baking program and I've been finding everything a little confusing, so I figured I'd make a post and see if anyone could help answer some questions I've had or direct me where to go for answers

- trades move in date:
what day do the trades programs move in to the dorms? I can't seem to find a date anywhere as dorm move ins apparently start in September, but my program starts late August. I was told there was an earlier move in date but don't know how to find out when it is?

- food plans:
I've seen stuff about food plans being available for students but don't know where to find them or what they include?

- getting around campus:
I'm currently living on the mainland so will be moving onto campus for school, and I don't have a car or planned on bringing one with me to the island... I like walking so I don't mind it at all, but I was wondering if it's possible to walk from the dorms to class (in a reasonable time) or if I should bring a bike?

any other advice/tips would be greatly appreciated too!

Hi everyone,

This is probably a long shot, but I'm wondering if anyone has experienced issues receiving emails from the university.

My application was ultimately withdrawn, and one of the major issues was that I was not receiving a selection university communications. So far, the feedback I've received has mostly been that the emails must have gone to junk mail or that I should use a different email address. However, I am still working with IT because there appears to be an ongoing issue with my account.

I'm hoping to understand what the normal process looks like for other applicants.

After you applied through the BC Education Planner portal:

• How did you receive your student number?
• How were you notified about accessing Student Records?
• Did someone personally contact you, or was it a generic email from a specific department?
• When a document is uploaded to Student Records, do you also receive an email notification to your personal email address?

I'm just trying to determine whether my experience was unusual and whether anyone else has encountered similar communication issues.
