Do fall graduates HAVE to pay full year fees?

I logged onto my fall statement and see that i’m charged the full cost for all of the yearly fees (parking, health center, transportation, technology, sports complex, etc.) totaling to the $800. Is there a chance that they will refund or take off half of these since i will only be attending 1 of 2 semesters? I know the graduation team has not yet finalized my graduation standing so I was thinking that maybe they contributed? I find it kind of crazy to have to pay the $400 of fees when I will not be in attendance!

Will this impact me?

I am planning on applying to UWG in August once the application for Fall 2027 opens. I already created an admissions account, and while looking around the application management page, I mistakingly opened an undergraduate application for Spring 2027. When the Fall 2027 application opens, will I be able to apply? How can I resolve this if not? I already sent admissions an email but it is obviously the weekend so I will not be getting a reply today. I just want a bit of peace of mind so that I know will still be able to apply regardless of my mistake.

Question

I took a summer class with Dr. Frank Fontanella and I am still having problems with him regarding one of my grades. The whole thing has just been handled very poorly. I have never had any problems with professors till now and my sister who graduated a few years ago said she heard some bad things about him from students when she was here. I’m just wondering if anyone has had any problems with him before and if it ever got resolved.

Tiffany Parsons is a Fraud

I was hired as a GTA last fall and learned on the first day of GA training that generally the GTA1 position pays around $1400 a month and GTA 2's are paid around $1600 a month. For some reason, Prison Ed GA's are only paid $1000 a month and when I asked about why that is, Melissa Wynn referred me back to Parsons who stated that she didn't have enough funding to pay us more.

Early in the semester, we're making small talk and Parsons describes receiving a tenure salary for being a sociology professor as well as receiving state and federal grant funding for the prison education program which seemed all good and fine. She also described receiving "donations" from external entities or private businesses to support her work. I didn't think too hard about it at the time but the way she was sharing this with me with a tone of guilt did make myself and a few others raise eyebrows.

Around October we had our regional audit and Tiffany asked me and one of the other interns to shred about 10 huge boxes of financial documents. She didn't give us specific instructions, but told us to shred everything unless it was recent or important looking. My colleague got frustrated with how long it was taking for us to shred all of this paperwork and he threw a couple of the boxes in the dumpster unshredded. If you know Tiffany, she has the kind of anxiety that's so bad it's contagious and everyone that works with her is constantly walking on egg shells. She of course flew off the handle and took my coworker off the task and had me finish doing all the shredding. The documents went back over a decade and a lot of the expenses didn't seem like conference travel or things that would have been related to sociology students but was a lot of stuff like global travel, restaurants, bars, shopping, etc. Some of the receipts had documents describing what they were for but not all of them, and even a lot of what was included seemed totally bogus (made up names, events that probably never happened).

The last week of classes, Tiffany assigned me to read some letters from our students for a mentorship program they were doing. In the stack of handwritten letters was a xeroxed copy of voided checks from Blackstone, one of the largest housing conglomerates in the US. By this time, I had already been thinking about saying something but I was trying to secure another internship before reporting her.

Over Christmas break, in an effort to avoid my shitty roommate, I decided to work in the honors house on my dissertation proposal. Even though I was fully enrolled in classes and my ID swiped green, Tiffany called the police on me and filed a criminal trespassing charge which led me to get arrested and charged with a misdemeanor and now literally homeless as an out of state graduate student.

She's already been reported to law enforcement and the accrediting body, but since her family literally owns the GA government and law enforcement system, it's possible she will be keeping her job there.

ANYWAY if you want to call her a white feminist slave master to her face and remind her that pocketing money off of the most vulnerable students in the nation is soOoOo not social justice of her, please be my guest.

I would love to see the Prison Ed program thrive and be successful, however I hope to see the day Tiffany is completely stripped of her authority and replaced by people who live in alignment with the values they promulgate.

Student Teaching Question

I was wondering what the student teaching is like at UWG. I know some schools pick schools for you while others let you set it up yourself even allowing it to be out of state. I haven’t been able to find any info about their polices regarding this.

Grad Student Housing Recommendations

Hello! I just accepted a master's position at UWG. I was wondering if I could hear from any students who live near Atlanta and commute to school and if they prefer it.

I'm debating getting an apartment in Atlanta, but would also like to hear about any grad students' experience living in Carrollton. Thank you!

The West Georgia Neurodivergent Fellowship meeting

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi neighbors, I'm Roy, a local here in Carrollton.

My friend Amanda and I are reaching out to the community today because we know firsthand how exhausting it can be to navigate a world built for constant noise and superficial small talk.
We are starting The West Georgia Neurodivergent Fellowship—a completely free, intentional community for mature adults (40+) right here in Carroll County who are ready to move past isolation.

Because of how hard it is for people on the autism spectrum (or those who are otherwise neurodivergent) to start and maintain friendships and partnerships, we are creating a group just for us. Whether your goal is to finally unmask, share your hobbies, build a reliable circle of friends, or perhaps discover a meaningful romantic connection, this predictable sanctuary is designed to let real relationships breathe.

Instead of loud venues or high-pressure social events, our meetups are centered around sensory-friendly, low-stimulus options. We are currently organizing gatherings like:

☕️ Quiet Café Connections: Calm, low-stimulus coffee shop chats.
🌲 Companionable Nature Walks: Slow-paced, peaceful outdoor movement.
🎨 The Artisan Table: Quiet afternoons for writing, drawing, or crafts.
💻 Tech & Parallel-Play: Bringing your own quiet project to work on, or diving deep into early home computers (I can talk about Commodore 64s and retro tech for hours!).
📚 Library Sanctuaries: Serene afternoons at Neva Lomason Library.
🎲 Collaborative Tabletop Games: Simple, cooperative, lighthearted interaction.

OUR ENVIRONMENT & VALUES:

This fellowship is a safe haven. No loud crowds, no flashing lights, and zero high-pressure expectations. Whether you want to find a lifelong circle of understanding friends or quietly meet a kindred spirit who shares your depth and faith, you are welcome exactly as you are.
Cost: 100% Free
Location: 710 Rome St, Carrollton, GA 30117

HOW TO TAKE THE FIRST STEP:

We are planning a meeting for 7/11/2026 at 3 pm. If this sounds like the community you've been looking for, please email or call us!

Roy Nel: [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) or 442-274-9034
Amanda: [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) or 470-834-7791

We are also putting out a petition (QR code attached) called “Stop The Invisible Isolation - Demand Social Infrastructure For Autistic Adults Over 40”. If you would like to support this cause, please scan the QR code, read what it's about and sign it. Thanks for your support!

We are really looking forward to meeting some fellow quiet souls in the neighborhood!

Sublease at Octiv Row

Hello! I am looking for someone to take over my lease at Octiv Row. It’s an all girls 4x4 apartment. It is right near UWG campus which is convenient for both drivers AND walkers.

The lease runs from 8/11/26-7/23/27 and move in is on 8/10/26.

It is $655 a month plus electric (which is split between you and your 3 roommates). This is a great deal considering it is around the same price as a dorm.

Please let me know if you’re interested or looking for more info!

Considering UWG

Hey guys, I'm currently a rising senior in high school and college admissions open in August. I want to major in Criminology and minor in French and Philosophy, and UWG seems like a really good choice for me. Can anyone vouch for those specific programs, or even just the school in general? I used to live in Carrollton, so I am familiar with the town, actually used to live 10 minutes away from UWG, I loved it. Just not sure about the school. I got this feeling that is absolutely pulling me towards it though. Any comments would be appreciated

Nursing to Accounting?

I’m transferring from KSU to UWG next spring due to financial and personal reasons. I used to be a pre-nursing major, but am thinking it’s not really for me anymore. I want to know how UWG’s accounting program is and if it’s considered good? I’ll need to take more classes for it, but I’m fine with that.

I have a 3.4 GPA if that matters.

The UWG Alumni Applique Crew no longer comes in navy, and I really want that color. I am willing to buy if lightly used and either small, medium, or large size. Image attached.
