When they say bring an overnight bag to spend the night in our dorms, does that mean bring bedding too? Like bed sheet, pillow, and blanket/comforter? I don’t want to be the only person bringing like an ikea bag of stuff but I’m assuming all that is necessary since our dorms are bare rn

I'm an incoming first year in engineering and still thinking about what to major in, but I noticed something interesting with the student outcomes data page. Under Electrical engineering (bachelors) the starting salary is roughly 78k with 3.57% unemployed, while Computer engineering is sitting at 106k starting and 1.5% unemployed. is there any explanation for the difference in employment? I sort of understand the salary thing but from what I knew I assumed CompE was vastly more saturated than EE.

For families with income 80-100K how did your financial aid packages look for 3rd/4th years students (non-loan)? Concerned we will see mainly higher loan component of financial aid when using the guaranteed option.

I wanted to ask how mandatory Samonina’s discussion sections are besides for the exams dates. All the Orgo discussion days seem to fall on Thursday this year. Heyboar and Tepe have a discussion section on Monday that overlaps a discussion section of another core class I’m taking. Serbulea’s discussion overlaps with another class I have, which leaves me with Frantz on Wednesdays, which unfortunately I am at the back of the waitlist for. Samonina opened up a new section a few weeks ago but has Thursday discussions. I have important orgs and meetings I cannot miss on Thursdays around her discussion time but I can stay for the first 30 mins and attend the 3 future exam dates. How should I proceed with this in mind? If you guys have any experience w Samonina pls lmk

2. I heard that he does weekly quizzes. What day of the week (M, W, or F) do these usually fall on?

Do new transfer students have to wait until after summer orientation (July 31st) to enroll into classes?

Hi guys. UVA is one of my top schools as a class of 27 and I am looking to possibly ED UVA. I am from MA, so out of state, attend a top 15 prep school which makes my academics challenging. There have been past acceptances from my school to UVA but most kids with competitive grades go for Ivies or top 15-20 schools. I have a 3.7 unweighted GPA, 3.9 Weighted, (I know that's below the standards for UVA, but I do think the private school vs public school academics matter), taken 3 APs (my school doesnt offer that many APs and students cant take them basically til junior year), and I have a 1500 SAT. I'm still working on my essay and will try to make it as personal and good as it can be. As of ECs, I have a good amount: Leaderships in school, church volunteer, varsity football every year in HS, etc. My recs are also not bad. I'm looking to apply history major. My biggest issue I think is that I finished with a B last year in AB calc, which is the only B I had junior year and one of the few I had my entire highschool career. My grades have also been trending upward if that helps.

What do you guys think about my odds for ED are? Any tips? Suggestions? Anything helps.

I saw that UVA doesn’t accept architecture portfolios but I have seen that you are allowed to send a portfolio to the arts department. Would anyone recommend doing that to help my chances of getting in or is that unnecessary?

Hello, I'm coming into my third year as a BSCS transfer student from NOVA. My main question is how difficult is it for CS transfers to adjust?

I've been comparing the recommended transfer schedules at UVA and Virginia Tech and I noticed that VT does a much better job easing transfer students in for CS. The UVA transfer sheet wants us to take 3 CS courses immediately, whereas the VT sheet only has students taking 2 (one of which is only a one credit class).

Alumni here, my UVA account was disabled a month ago as others were. I realized my iphone notes were saved to my UVA account, so they're lost now. Anyone know if tech support is able to reinstate my account temporarily for me to retrieve my notes? Thanks~

hi guys, I am an OOS student interested in uva. i was wondering if the deadlines are reviewed on priority basis? im asking because the term i want to apply for opens on a specific date and i have to submit my current semester grades which wont be finalized yet. If i submit my application before the deadline but a few weeks after the opening date, do other applicants get priority review over me? if anyone (transfers) has experience or insight id love to hear. thanks!
