Do you think there's ANY way for me to get this waived, barely touches my neck. One recruiter says hard no, other said 50/50.

I’ve heard of people getting dropped from bootcamp, and I’m curious on how that works.
I want to join but I don’t want to get dropped.
I had an uncle who got dropped from usmc bootcamp when he was younger, but he never really explained why.

Truth is, I’m still on/off passing/failing at home THC tests I purchased. Do they put me on for remediate until it’s out of my system or do I get booted during second phase? I fucked up and it was just shocking to me that it’s not out of my system yet. Please be honest. I regret my fuck up.

Update: Currently at the airport. Was told it was dq for awol if I leave now. And my recruiter said I’d be dq from DEP because I mentioned it to him day of. Lose - lose. I was getting faint lines on 15ng and 50ng tests for a couple of days straight and only yesterday (after a day of straight water and fruit) it showed positive. So idk what’s going to happen folks.

More context: I’m going to PI. Someone in the comments they were retained and continued. I was informed to just take the piss test and DENY DENY DENY for everything at MOT.

Just putting it out there, I ship August 11. So I have a little under 3 weeks. Alright so back on April 9, I injured my left knee. I slightly tore my medial meniscus, sprained my MCL (grade 1), & slightly fractured my medial tibial spine. None of the injuries were severe and I did not need surgery. I've been doing what I need to do & now I'm not all the way there with it as far as being fully healed but I'm getting close. It's come a long way. My concern is my eligibility now. I completed MEPS before the injury happened but now I'm worried if this is going to affect my process later on. I have a feeling if it was going to, then one of the recruiters would've said something to me but I'm still worried. My station commander said I won't have to go through MEPS again & plus our Sgt Major knows about my injury as well & didn't say anything that would make me think that my process would be affected. I'm worried that I'm gonna get to MEPS the day that I ship or get to bootcamp and during receiving week, they're going to see that extensive medical history cause trust me it is a lot. & then I'm going to be sent back home. What should I do?

Is there anything I should know before signing. Literally anything at all that you wish you knew before signing. Any advice or information is appreciated.

Basically that exact question. A few years ago, right before I was suppose to head out for boot camp, my mom got sick with blood poisoning, so I dropped out because I was scared of her passing if I wasn’t there. Now about four years later, could I still join?

I have never had any family members in the military but to me it seems like Marines are portrayed as the badass men who come to get shit done.

Do people in other branches see Marines as the real hard-core military branch?

I am currently 17 and debating if I should join the military.

for context My dream job in the civilian world is police officer, but I need to be 21 and im looking for stable careers to pass the time. Ive looked into being an mp in all branches and have started my talks with recruiters, though I heard someone post something like this before, and they got suggested the coast guard. I just wanted to get a second opinion from other branches.

Im currently 18 years old and I have medical history that strictly diqualifies me from trying to enlist. I understand I might have to wait 3-5 years for being stable. can any of you guys/girls tell and be honest? Please do not sugarcoat anything.

Any advice on contract selection? I graduated with my A.A.S. in Information Technologies/Cybersecurity and would ideally like to have a career after the corps.

Does anybody know the cutoff limit for thc at meps? Is it 50ng or 15ng? I’ve been off weed for quite a bit and went to get a lab test done to check my exact levels and was at 16ng, so I’m not super stressed or anxious, would just like a peace of mind.

Hey, so I know ADHD & Autism are DOD disqualifying disorders, but I just want to know what's my chances are that 1, my ASD is a mis diagnose, and I really only have ADHD, which would be much eaiser. I know I'm a few years out, but it's just worrying me, as becoming a Marine is really my only goal, and especially law enforcement related, too. Would someone be able to help me out?

19 leaving for boot camp in a few weeks, I’m wondering if anyone here has a thick beard or facial hair that grows back quickly and results in irritation when shaving and how did you guys deal with it at boot camp. If possible would I be able to get a shaving profile during boot camp?

Ok so, I’ve wanted to enlist in the Marine Corps for about two years now, ever since my junior/senior year of high school. I graduated last June and only did one semester of college to get my family off my back because they don’t know I plan on enlisting.

Before I talk to a recruiter, I want to legally change my name. I want to start fresh, and I don’t plan on coming back home after I leave. The problem is I keep putting the name change off. I tell myself it’s because I don’t have enough money, but I honestly don’t know if that’s the real reason.

I only have about $200 in my bank account right now. Between the court filing fee and updating all my documents, I’m worried it’ll cost more than I can afford. Should I focus on getting a job and saving first, or should I start the name change now and update the rest of my documents later?

Another thing is my family. I lied and said I wasn’t taking summer classes, but August is coming up, and they’re going to start asking why I’m not registering for the fall semester. I also haven’t talked to a recruiter yet, even though there’s a recruiting office about a 5 min walk from my house. If I start the enlistment process, go to MEPS, or attend PT, I’m not sure what I’d even tell my family when I’m gone during those days.

I’m also nowhere near physically ready. I can’t do a pull-up or a push-up, and I don’t run. That makes me feel like I shouldn’t even talk to a recruiter yet.
Everything feels connected, and because of that I end up doing nothing. For anyone who’s been in a similar situation, especially if you changed your name before enlisting or kept your plans private from family, what would you do first?

I (20F) am enlisting in the Marines. I’m a boxer on track to go pro. I’ve decided to serve in military instead of going pro. I’d however like to continue boxing. Are there opportunities for females to continue boxing in the Marines (not full time)? Are there boxing teams? My recruiter didn’t have an answer to this question either. I understand the Army has a world class athletes program which includes boxing. Is there anything similar for the Marines? To be clear - I want to go active duty and only continue boxing on the side

My son is in the Table 1 Phase (Week 8) with Mike Co. in San Diego and I’m seeing a conflict in the coming weeks between different training matrices.

On one of them, Monday of Week 10 is the Confidence Chamber, then the Crucible starts on Tuesday. (FWIW, this one is from Mcrsd.marines.mil, so I’m inclined to believe this one more.)

On the other, from MarineParents.com, it makes no mention of the Confidence Chamber and has the Crucible starting on Monday of Week 10.

Which is correct?

So I'm a 19 year old kid about leave in 2 months, and to be honest I've been a couch potato haven't been going on runs, running a 15min 1.5 and barely getting 8 pull ups. I mean I can do better than some of my other poolees but i feel I am not ready. Going to PT has been a issue since transport is and my recruiter is unreliable unless its a IST. Just keep a few word whatever helps!

I have been dieting and restricting gluten for the past 4 years and have lost over 60 pounds. Here’s the problem: whenever I eat gluten I have back pain, bloating, gas, occasional severe stomach cramps , along with constipation and abdominal fullness. I am not diagnosed with anything, and made it past MEPs, but I don’t want to get diagnosed with anything disqualifying.

However, I feel like this would be a major problem in bootcamp

Today’s the last day of my boot leave and my flight to Jacksonville, NC for MCT is tomorrow morning. I’ve been dealing with pain in my lower left leg, especially when running or jumping (feels relatively normal when just walking), since before the final PFT at basic. My SDI had told me to thug it out through the end of boot camp as we were pretty much at the end. I made it through the crucible fine but it definitely worsened since then/due to it. I know it could be something as light as shin splints but also more serious like a stress fracture. I wanted to hear any opinions on Marines who have completed MCT on weather it’s a good idea to try to just push through MCT and get it checked it out either afterward or once I get to my schoolhouse, or if I should risk being medically held by getting it checked out beforehand when I first arrive this week. I’ve heard differing things on how demanding the hikes/potential running is and would appreciate any insight or advice.

I enlisted in the reserves as a 2841: ground radio repairman and now like my life in the marine corps. I regret not going active but that’s not what I wanted this post to be about.

My question is, will I be able to go active duty (on like ados or ima) after schooling?

Global billets is almost exclusively filled with intel/management billets and I wasn’t sure if those are the only billets available.

Im 17 F and ive wanted to join the marines for a few years now, but i cant till im 18 because my mom wont sign anything because she doesnt want the “military to own me”, and doesnt want to be responsible for my decision. Apart of it is also because my dad is a Marine and was injured in Afghanistan pretty badly in 2010 and had brain surgery, so its a sensitive topic for her.

Anyways, even though I cant officially start the process until October when I turn 18, ive still been trying to speak with recruiters. A little while ago i went to a recruiting office with my mom to speak with someone. I personally thought he was decent, but my mom disagreed because he was wearing civilian clothing and said “that’s the filthiest Marine I’ve ever met” 😭, so my dad wanted to take me instead to have me speak with a different recruiter.

I just called another office and spoke with someone, and the guy seemed really cool and genuine. He asked me some questions on the phone to make sure I qualified before meeting in person, and then said he would prefer to meet 1 on 1 first because sometimes parents overstep, or kids dont feel as comfortable answering questions truthfully with their parents there, then after a 1 on 1 meeting he wanted to then meet with me and my dad. The recruiter offered to pick me up if I couldn’t be dropped off, and explained he would be in uniform and have government plates. I appreciated his honesty and had a good convo w him.
I told my dad this and he basically just said no absolutely not because there was no reason to be meeting 1 on 1.
I personally felt like the recruiter had no bad intentions and I thought it was nice he offered to pick me up, but maybe it’s just because I really just want to have a good conversation with a recruiter without either my mom being passive aggressive to the recruiter or my dad saying it’s a creepy situation. It’s starting to feel like a sign when I’ve already had people tell me im incapable. I want to get someone’s opinion on if my dad did the right thing or if the conversation with the recruiter seemed normal.

If a recruit is called/told to appear at a JAG office or some other office, does the recruit have to tell the DI, the purpose of the request if it involves non-military matters.

E.g. the recruit’s signature is REQUIRED on a legal document

Hello, i have been thinking about joining for two years and i graduated 2 months ago so i told my father what i wanted to do and now he has been so angry at me for the past few days and yells at me just about every day saying how “I’m going to be a burden if I die”, “you’ll regret it”, “it’s such a stupid idea” along with threatening to punch me. He wants me to have a “normal manual labor job” but I know that’s not what I want. I have talked to a recruiter and I am able to set up a date with him but I just don’t know what I should do will this be something I end up regretting? I want to go in and do schooling on mechanics while I’m there but he says I can go to a normal community collage and I’m just so confused and don’t know what I should do.
