Hi all! Genuinely where are students supposed to go when we’re in between leases? I have to move out on July 31st but I can’t move into my next place until August 18th. I previously had an arrangement with a friend, but that fell through *just today* as they no longer have the space and now my partner and I may not have a place to go at all for those in between days. I previously asked some other friends who are in the same situation but they have homes to go back to in other towns while my partner and I just have each other and our current apartment.

Does anyone have a couch we can crash on? Any extra rooms or space for these days? Any advice for where we might be able to go is greatly appreciated, I’m feeling more and more desperate as we get closer to the move out date :’)))))

I’ve also looked on fb marketplace for subleases but no one ever has availability for this specific time period, and we can’t afford to stay at an AirBnb because us needing to move was already unexpected and we are both just college students working to pay our own bills.

We both have jobs and we won’t rot in your apartment, also we are excellent chefs and bakers and are happy to cook meals in return for a roof over our heads and we will also pay for staying with you. We don’t have any pets and don’t smoke but we love animals and will get pets in our future home <3

Sincerely looking for a place to stay so our next expense doesn’t have to be for sleeping bags and camp stuff from Dick’s Sporting Goods for us to snuggle up in an obscure lot and to use a gym membership for showers :’))))

hey guys, I’m currently a sophomore. last year I got the Illinois promise scholarship. I still qualify for it rn, nothing has changed with my situation. but I submitted fafsa in June. Ik it says March 15, but is that to initially qualify? isn’t it different if you are renewing it?

Hi everyone, I am planning on applying to uiuc next year as a in-state community college student. I plan on apply as a psychology major, I currently have a 3.8 gpa but I have a concern about withdrawals. Last year I had to drop from 4 of my classes due to family health reasons concerning my mother, I am a little nervous bc a majority of those courses were math related. I was wondering if those withdrawals would be a deal breaker at uiuc or do I still have a chance of transferring in? If it makes it better the courses I dropped were not related to any of the suggested/required courses in the transfer handbook and I ended up taking one of the previously dropped courses again and receiving an A in the class.

hi!! i’m an ad major graduating in 2027. i’ve been feeling a sense of impending doom for graduating, mainly because the job market sucks for advertising right now. i have a good amount of experience, and i didn’t even end up with an internship this summer despite applying to 100s of roles, networking, etc. i’m starting to become super stressed about the idea of being unemployed after college. i want to go into account management, which as i understand is a role that isn’t being as taken over by ai, but it is also a very saturated field. any advice on how to stand out in the job market? what types of jobs should i look for and how should i look for them? what salary should i expect as a new grad? any information would be super helpful. thanks!

Running a couple classics starting tonight. Not all ramen is created equal. Tonkotsu is probably the most popular ramen in the U.S. I do enjoy eating it however I don’t enjoy the sleepless night feeding the soup and checking it every hour. It’s extremely tiresome… pop in tonight and check out my version of Tantanmen as well. I’ve been serving this style the past 5 or so years to the public but worked on it much longer. I applied to work at the dining hall and today they emailed saying I have to attend an informational meeting between August 3 and 6. The problem is I won’t be moving in until Aug 17, so I physically can’t be there and they don’t allow virtual meetings.

Has anyone been in this situation before? Did they let you go to a make up session later on in the month? How strict are they when it comes to these kind of things? I’m planning to email them but I wanted to scope out the community for some advice before I did.

For context, I am an incoming freshman, and I want to take an earlier math slot (days are mon, wed, fri), but the only available Professor during that time is Erdogen. I looked on ratemyproffessor and people liked him (4.5 rating) but his exams and homework were hard.

I wanted to ask if his exams are really that bad, and how hard it was to get an A, especially compared to Dunfield, who I heard was a great teacher. I am asking this because there is a slot open at 2pm for him, hence my other choice. I also want to know if is it hard to stay motivated and go to these classes this late!

I am okay with a harder teacher, as I have had that in the past for caclulus, but i am also willing to take a later class if a teacher is much better!

I’m considering leasing an apartment at 305 E John and would appreciate hearing from current or previous tenants.

What were your monthly utility bills like, especially during the highest-usage months? The leasing office said it depends on usage, but I’d like to know the typical range and the maximum amount tenants have paid.

I also noticed that the bedroom doors do not have individual locks. Was that ever a safety or privacy concern?

Overall, how was your experience with the apartment, maintenance, management, noise, cleanliness, and security? Would you recommend living there?

I think it’s a stupid program to use on anything other than midterms or finals because it’s just so invasive and flags you for things your dirk wouldn’t even get flagged for if it was ran through an AI detector. Apparently it flagged me for looking away throughout the assignment

It was a writing assignment where the professor told me we could use our class notes. I’m looking away AT MY CLASS NOTES. She just automatically gave me a 0 because “ use of AI or outside help” isn’t allowed. My screen and audio were shared so it’s obvious no one was helping me and I didn’t use AI. I also have adhd and tend to look around on zoom classes too which I’d think she’d notice by now since we’re a class of 12.

I miss regular online proctoring without them videoing you and being able to intensely watch and make decisions about what you were doing based off very little evidence. I think it makes people too strict when in person you wouldn’t even get a video of so some throughout their entire assignment. And I was telling my parents the writing wasn’t even that good! If I was gonna cheat it would’ve been way better. It’s also a Spanish course.

It’s an assignment that’s a good chunk of my grade as well. I’m just so frustrated having to deal with this and I don’t even know how I can get it fixed. I guess this is half rant half looking for guidance is this has happened to anyone else.

Just stopped in to get a new tube and it seemed to be totally gone from the space next to BrewLab. Anyone know if they're closed for good? Bummer if so, they were my fav bike shop in town and great location right on campus.

is it a heavy workload? how easy is it to get an A? I know there are 2 papers worth 40% of your total grade….how harsh is the professor with grading these? how important is it to do the readings? how difficult is the final?

Is it possible to receive a full funding package with the admission letter or at least before accepting the offer?
I see that it is possible to get TAs or Fellowships but I do not understand when and how these are awarded.
If it is just „unlikely“ that’s okay. I just wanna know if it is possible so I would shoot my shot!
