In 2022, the Rio Nuevo Board approved spending up to $512,000 to assist Empire Pizza in expanding into additional space located in the core of downtown Tucson. The expansion will increase the current footprint from 1200SF to 5000SF. Empire Pizza renovations and expansion into 145 E. Congress, allowing them more room for dine-in service and bar facilities.
This was four years ago. Where did the funds go?
This is the real story.

Glad my pest control is working. Came home to find this standard bark scorpion and this Godzilla scorpion dead on my back porch. No bananas in the house so please accept a quarter.

I'm curious as to whether folks are comfortable with the growing number of Flock license plate reader cameras in the Tucson area.

Does anyone know what's going on at the Dillard's in the Tucson Mall? There's multiple fire engines

My fiance and I are homeless, even though he has a job and I just started. It seems like shelters are booked and the intake time wasn’t possible since we have things and we are nowhere near it. Donated plasma but it can only stretch so far. It’s been trial and error calling churches as well since the funding isn’t there, so we’ve had to resort to using any money we had left to fund our stay. We are in a hotel but our checkout is today, with no luck of funds available. We both truly just need shelter, a place to stay, out of the heat to go to work and back. Any chance we could get some help, it would be great. Even just another night so we have more time to reach out to distant family or more resources today.

There was a new option for drop off ballots yesterday and plenty of discussion about it. Voters had the option to drop their ballot and go, or have their id and ballot “verified” by a poll worker. This was NOT signature verification.
The process was intended to speed up counting after polls close. We will have some data on efficacy soon. Sooo…question time!
Did you know this was an option prior to Election Day?
Did you verify your id, or drop and go?
Would you “verify” your ballot if it took longer or you had to wait in line to do so?
Was the process clearly explained?
What improvements could be made?
Do you even agree that end of day counting is a problem?

I'm trying to find a job in Tucson, but honestly, I'm not finding many opportunities. It seems like the only things this city has to offer are being a computer technician or working in call centers like AFNI and GEICO. What other places should I look to find something decent?

We are a same sex couple expecting our first baby, and looking for recommendations for a great OB who delivers at Tucson Medical Center.
We are also planning to consult with El Rio Midwifery, but would like to also visit an OB and see which direction we would like to go. Does anyone have any personal recommendations/ positive or negative experiences to share?
Thanks!

Looking for a place that offers small, private rooms with good WiFi as I have an online appointment and my home WiFi is too spotty. I graduated from UA last month, so I’m not sure if I still have access to rooms and WiFi at the library.

Looking for a good shop that specializes in performance cars. Just need a place to take my car for oil changes, brake fluid/pads, basic maintenance really but I’d like to know if there’s any shops that are popular with track day enthusiasts. Guys who are passionate about cars and the motorsports industry. Just moved here from out of state where I was hitting the track and the mountains frequently. Thanks

Hi everyone! I'm looking for some advice from other small business owners or vendors in Tucson.
I've applied to a few local markets, but I've been denied each time. I actually attended one of the markets I had applied to and spoke with someone at the information booth. They told me that one of the main reasons was that I was a new vendor and they were looking for more established vendors with an existing customer base.
I completely understand their perspective, but it's also hard to become established if no one will give you a chance to get your products in front of people.
Right now I have fewer than 100 followers on Instagram, and I'm working on improving my social media by taking better product photos and posting more consistently.
Does anyone know of any markets, pop ups, or events around Tucson that are especially welcoming to newer vendors?
Thjank you so much!!

I am looking for experiences from those who send their kids to either elementary school. I am aware of the Spanish Immersion at VV, but I heard Manzanita is more academically challenging. Also I heard both have a bullying problem, but just wanted to see what other people’s thoughts/opinions are. TIA!

A family member not on the inter webs needs some engine and body work done on a 1928 Model A. Body work is two fender dings and engine work is basically that it's been sitting too long undriven. It was fully restored years ago, this shouldn't? be a big project.
Any recommendations for reliable, honest work? Thanks!

Hello everyone! I was planning on taking a nature themed photo for a 30th birthday. Originally we were planning to do it on Mount Lemon but with all of the rain that seems out.
I'm trying to find a place with good nature scenery that has a bench where we can pop a champagne bottle without disturbing anyone or causing an issue.
Any input is appreciated and thank you in advance!

My cat is suddenly stumbling and losing her balance. It seems to be getting worse, and i no longer feel comfortable waiting for her appointment tomorrow. I was recommended petwellclinic and tucson vet urgent care on speedway. Ive been to the speedway one once and they charged me 1000 dollars to rehydrate my cat and wanted me to pay $3000 just for a diagnosis. Who knows what treatment wouldve cost. I just dont wanna go back there. I looked up petwell and i found it suspicious how their lowest review was still 5 stars. Cant businesses delete reviews? I might be tripping. But theres also not really any info on pricing or if theyll even be able to help based off her symptoms.
