Long story, born in Northern Ireland, British Citizen but emigrated to Canada with family way back, have a current Canadian but lists my place of birth as 'Bangor, N.I.'.

I don't want to deal with a UK passport, I've got a name change and the paperwork is fierce.

Has anybody born in the UK with a UK place of birth been able to enter with an ETA and a foreign passport?

So far I haven't seen a lot of news of people bounced but god only knows.

I posted here a few weeks ago and got good advice.  Now I’d love a review of our London itinerary!  Group of 7 Americans including 2 children aged 5 and 11.

Day 1: Friday - arrival 

Fly into Gatwick from Iceland, landing around 2:30pm.

Take the train (Tube?) to Gloucester Road station to accommodation in Knightsbridge. We will not have a car.

What should we do in London on a Friday evening with kids?  Any recommendations for museums open late or fun evening tours?  Is it reasonable to assume we’ll make it to our accommodation around 5pm?

Day 2: Saturday - city architecture day

Boat tour of the city from the Thames.  Which one is your favorite?  We’d love something guided that talks about both the history of London and the current modern city

View Parliament and Westminster Abbey from the outside.  Not sure if kids will have the patience for tours of the inside, but they want to see “Big Ben” (AKA the Elizabeth Tower).  Possibly also Buckingham Palace.

Ride the Eye - yes it’s touristy, but it’s another direct request from the kids

Day 3: Sunday - historic London day

Tower of London museum

Tower Bridge

Old city walls, possible walking tour of old town.  I’d love recommendations for cool tours/places in this area

Day 4: Monday - museum day

British Museum

Science Museum

Hyde Park and Diana playground if we haven’t already made it over there by this day.

Day 5: Tuesday 

Check out ASAP

Head to Warwick Castle on train for next portion of our trip, hopefully no later than 8:30am.

Does this all look reasonable?  Are there any hidden gems that I’m missing?  We love science and history, particularly medieval and older history that we don’t get much of in the US. Any great restaurants in the areas we’ll be in? Tips and tricks for using the Tube? We’re very excited and want to make the most of it.

The morning of Monday, August 17 I land in England for my 2 week vacation. I can’t wait!

Itinerary is as follows:
London: Aug 17 - 21
Bath: August 22 - 24
Chester: August 25 - 26
York: August 27 -28
Cambridge: August 29 - 30

Then back to London on August 31 to fly home.

I have all my accommodations and attractions booked. What I don’t have figured out is food. I have only one restaurant I was told I can’t miss so far, and that is the Admiralty in London for really good beers and “upscale” fish and chips.

I’d like to try a lot of traditional British foods. Obviously fish and chips. A good steak. An English burger chain of some kind. Cottage pie. Steak and ale pie. I’d like to have pizza there. Maybe a good Sunday roast. Eton’s mess, sticky toffee pudding, Victoria sponge cake, good ice cream. I will be going to Borough Market at least once in London. I know Britain is supposed to have a pretty good Indian food scene, however that’s not really my jam.

So what I’m looking for is other foods I should try and recommendations where I should go for those foods and my list above.

Hi, I bought an e-sim unlimited pass for 8 days in the UK without realizing that my phone SIM is locked. It hasn’t been activated and can be activated anytime before 15th October. I paid £15 for it because of an online deal. Does anyone want to use it?

I have a trip planned to London in September. I filled out the ETA application and was approved because I have no prior convictions in the past 12 months. Coincidentally, that same day but at night, I was pulled over for felony DWI. Will I still be able it go to London? I posted bail and have not been given a court date yet and haven’t even hired an attorney because it just happened yesterday. It’s all still fresh, but I’m wondering if I can still enter the UK now that I’m about to fight this case. The bail company didn’t take my passport and hasn’t given me any travel restrictions. Neither did the judge. Am I still good to go in September?

Just as the title says, i flew out from Stansted a few weeks ago (terminal 2 if that helps) and there was this super soft pair of grey flight socks on display almost everywhere. they felt so nice to touch but i cant remember what brand they were at all!

After a day of travel horror easyjet cancelled our flight. We had to rebook with a different airline from a different airport.

Easyjet is likely to reimburse us (that was confirmed by ground staff).

Is it ok to claim the same disruption from our travel insurance?

4. Any overrated stops I should skip?
5. If you had 5 touring days, what would you change?

im trying to organize an autumn backpacking trip that starts in london, takes the train up to belfast, and then connects down to dublin before heading back across. doing the actual city research is super exciting but trying to manually align the different booking windows for lner, the cross border enterprise train to dublin, and local transit links is a bit testing my patience. when i try to sync the regional timetables on my phone it's confusing. i was comparing our draft with some rail packages through indus travel to see how they pace the transit blocks, and they seem to pre arrange the cross border rail passes and central accommodations under one so you arent scrolling between different booking sites.

anyone did the full uk to ireland rail loop, did you manage to secure the tickets smoothly on your own or is it significantly smarter to let an operator handle the transit route so there is little risk getting stranded?

I want to preface this by saying me and my husband are traveling to the UK from America and ARE Americans! I understand that this is mostly touristy things and there may be things that we are missing but we have limited time and money to travel so we are doing our best!! Mainly looking for recommendations to fill in some gaps!! We will be leaving Edinburgh the following Friday but have not planned out our days there yet but we are considering booking a tour to the highlands if anyone has any good recommendations for that!

Also wanting recommendations for a good English breakfast close to our hotel in London or SCOTTISH BREAKFAST and a good shepherd’s pie in Edinburgh. And any restaurant recommendations!!

Hello all! I am currently working on booking a round-trip flight from the US to Europe. We will be taking British Airways and while we have a direct flight from our home into the UK our flight home is from Paris and they have us directing back through LHR from CDG. They want us to have a layover and we have several choices ranging from two hours to five hours to much longer. Is a two hour layover at LHR enough or will we need more? In the US that is my preferred layover time, but I am wondering if I will need more because of customs?

I take A LOT of different medications each day and for convenience I have a strong preference to sort the medication into pill boxes ahead of travel. I would also take the outer packaging of the medication with me to have a record of what I am travelling with. Will this cause an issue at the airport? I am flying from the UK and on the route this is the only place where I will need to go through security.

In case it helps, my medication consist of cancer treatments and treatments to manage side effects from cancer and its treatments. So this is hormonal blockers, beta blockers, ace inhibitors, different supplements (D, magnesium, fish oil), allergy medication, muscle relaxants… as I take over 10 different medications each day and at varying times of the day, and because I suffer from cognitive problems due to my treatment, I have a strong preference to sort the pills into boxes to 1) help me remember to take the right thing at the right time and 2) to reduce the space the drugs take in luggage.

I also have a mix of other medications, mainly for pain, I take as needed but these would not be sorted to pill boxes. The only controlled substances I have are some of the pain meds. Injections I would also have in original packaging.
