πŸ—ΊοΈ Itinerary Help Hidden gems in Jaipur + best shopping recommendations (avoiding the usual tourist spots)

Hi everyone!

I'm planning a trip to Jaipur, and I'm looking for recommendations beyond the typical tourist itinerary (Hawa Mahal, Amber Fort, City Palace, etc.). I'd love to discover places that locals enjoy or that are genuinely underrated.

I'm especially interested in:

  • Hidden gems, unique neighbourhoods, or lesser-known historical spots
  • Beautiful cafΓ©s with great ambience
  • Places to catch sunrise/sunset
  • Good food that isn't just the famous tourist restaurants
  • Art, culture, local experiences, or anything that's unique to Jaipur

Also, where should I shop if I'm looking for good quality and fair prices? I'm interested in things like:

  • Block print clothing
  • Silver jewelry
  • Juttis/mojaris
  • Handicrafts and home dΓ©cor
  • Local textiles and souvenirs

Would appreciate recommendations on markets, specific shops, or areas where locals actually shop rather than places aimed only at tourists.

Thanks in advance!

I am Indian and grew up in the US. Where should I take trip to in India to have fun and explore?

I am a 30 year old guy who grew up in the US, but originally from India. I've rarely visited back, I don't know India, but I want to visit.

Where can I go where I can experience culture, hike, maybe beaches, party, meet great people, and enjoy India?

What are the top recommendations for a free minded, physically active, adventurous guy?

✍️ Travel Story Why everyone should visit Meghalaya at least once.

Most people think of Meghalaya and instantly picture waterfalls, but there's so much more to it. It's the long drives through the hills, tiny villages, local Khasi food, limestone caves, sacred forests, bamboo bridges, hidden trails, and viewpoints that make you stop every few minutes just to soak it all in.

One day you're hiking to the Living Root Bridges, the next you're exploring caves, chasing waterfalls, or just taking the longer route because the scenery is that good. Even the unplanned stops end up becoming some of the best memories.

What I loved most was that nothing felt rushed. You don't need a packed itinerary here. Just rent a vehicle, explore at your own pace, try the local food, and let the road surprise you.

If you haven't been to Meghalaya yet, add it to your list. And if you have, what's the one place or experience you'd tell everyone not to miss?

❓ Travel Question Hotel suggestions in Delhi

Hello people. I am travelling to Delhi (26, F) in August for 5 days with my family of 4. We will be travelling by train and initially thought of getting a hotel near the railway station. However, I have been told to avoid the area since Pahargunj is unsafe af even if it's close to the station. How about Karol Bagh? Was thinking of Pritampura too but seems like travelling there from NDLS will be hectic on the first day after arriving. My elderly parents will be travelling with me so I want to avoid long distances after a long train ride to reach the hotel. Can you all kindly help me out with suggestions? It's our first time visit Delhi. Budget is 3-3.5K per night. Thanks in advance!

πŸ—ΊοΈ Itinerary Help What's the most underrated place you've visited in India that deserves more attention?

Everyone knows about Manali, Goa, Jaipur, and Keralaβ€”but I'm curious about the places that don't make it to every travel list.

What's one destination in India that completely surprised you?

It could be:

A peaceful hill town with barely any tourists.

A beach that's still relatively untouched.

A small village with amazing food or culture.

A fort, trek, waterfall, or national park that deserves more recognition.

If possible, share:

πŸ“ Location

πŸ—“οΈ Best time to visit

πŸ’° Approximate budget

πŸ’‘ One tip for first-time visitors

I'm always looking for places that offer a unique experience beyond the usual tourist hotspots. Looking forward to discovering some hidden gems through your recommendations!

Budget Hotel/Hostel Dehli

Dear community,

my friend and I are backpacking India and we want to get a cheap accommodation in Dehli in a safe neighbourhood and also not too far from the main attractions. I’m asking because of the many hotel scams and fake reviews on hotels in Dehli.

Thanks for helping!
